  1. Ron, All scans completed, log files attached. Nothing was detected on any of the scans other than a few URL objects during the AdwCleaner step. They appeared to just be left over from the laptop's default configuration from the factory, as they were MyToshiba start URL's in IE. That's really it. Malwarebytes continues to be able to run successfully although it doesn't detect anything. The process that RKill had to terminate to allow the install to complete properly still appears to be present, however. (C:\Windows\SysWow64\Umonit64.exe) And I tried to run a HijackThis log again and it still fails to create a log file. Can I assume he is clean at this point due to the negative results from the scans? Thanks for the feedback. Addition.txt AdwCleanerS0.txt FRST.txt JRT.txt Malwarebytes.txt
  2. Ron, With the holiday yesterday and other things, I haven't been able to pin down my father in law long enough to get reconnected and run the above scans - should be able to get these done tonight/tomorrow. I just wanted to check in so the thread doesn't get closed due to inactivity. Thanks and sorry about the delay
  3. Ron, Malwarebytes finished and didn't find anything. Ran Roguekiller as well, it found some items. Both logs are attached. Thanks, Robert Malwarebytes.txt RKreport_SCN_07022014_213143.log
  4. Ron, Thank you for your help!! Malwarebytes is currently up and running a scan as I type this. I had downloaded Rkill previously, from reading other threads on this forum, but I was doing things out of order. Even after running it in step 01, I could not launch Malwarebyes. It wasn't until I ran the cleaner, rebooted, and then re-ran Rkill BEFORE trying to reinstall again that it went through. The install completed without any external exception errors this time and the application started immediately. I will follow up with attaching the RogueKiller log afterwards, but I couldn't wait to reply to thank you. Rkill log is attached, I'm guessing malwarebytes will pick up the one entry in there during the scan. Rkill.txt
  5. Hi, I am working on my father in law's laptop - Windows 8, and he's got the latest version of MBAM installed. Every time I attempt to run MBAM, it launches and then immediately terminates with no error message. I see the executable start in task manager and then get terminated. I have reinstalled multiple times and received e06d7363 external exception errors during the attempts, but clicking ok on the error prompts allows the install to complete. Also, when running HijackThis it completes a scan, but fails to generate a log file - it throws back a notepad error saying file not found, since whatever is going on must be preventing the log file from being created. I've run FRST and ESRT, found from other posts in this forum, log files are attached. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day all, Robert T.
