  1. The computer is new; had McAfee on it. Uninstalled that before running the clean then re-install of Premium.
  2. Ran a repair, then a clean and re-install; got a few similar messages but all seems sorted now.
  3. Did that. Got two unauthorized changes blocked messages. Another message roughly saying Unable to create the log.
  4. No problem at all. . All seems fixed Ron; even the dead icon has resolved itself. . Tyvm anyway.
  5. LoL Upon Googling it seems dead icons can remain in the notification/system tray and that if I restart explorer.exe I'd have to run each program again that was in there to have the icons show-up again; I think I'll just leave it be. I've been at this a while. Thanks for putting up with my talking to myself here in the forum. LoL
  6. I went on to run AdwCleaner, Junkware Removal Tool and ComboFix; disabling AVG when running each and rebooting after running each. I found that clicking, "customize", in the system tray showed cltmngui.exe (SearchProtect) sitting there. I then again ran all three of those programs, disabling AVG with each and rebooting after running each. cltmngui.exe is still in the, "customize", listing of which icons and notifications will appear in the taskbar. The SearchProtect folder is gone from program files (x86). So next I read that combofix doesn't do well with AVG installed; so I uninstalled that and installed Avante, disabled the shields and ran combofix yet again. cltmngui.exe is still listed in that, "customize", listing of which icons and notifications will appear in the tackbar. Strange thing is, "avgui.exe", is also listed in there but should be gone.
  7. Found 29 objects and fixed them all; MalwareBytes mbam log shows no problems with any fix and I've rebooted. I've subscribed to this thread. Will update if the situation seems to return.
  8. That should have read, "the only folder installed in program files or program files (x86), on that date, is SearchProtect"
  9. Full scan is still going. At this point the only folder installed in program files or program files (x86) is SearchProtect and the only other things installed on that date, listed in Programs and Features, is Adobe Flash Player 13 Plugin and Adobe Flash Player 13 ActiveX. I started in computers with a Commodore 64 when they came out; just to say I can follow along with suggestions. Was only 12 days ago this SearchProtect was installed. I tend to use an iPad alot more than the computer anymore; I guess this is the second time its been turned on since the infection was first noticed. I thought AVG must have taken care of it the first time it was noticed until tonight when it was blocking something about SearchProtect again and again "secured" it.
  10. I'm hearing thunder and the satellite dish is cutting out; I have a battery backup but it only lasts about twenty minutes and the power seems to go out here in this little town if someone sneezes hard enough. Hope I can stick to this thread and keep the computer up while I wait for a reply. LoL
  11. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware full scan is still going; 55 minutes now. Might be a while with almost a tb of games.
  12. AVG shows first Object name as: c:\Program Files (x86)\SearchProtect\SearchProtect\bin\SPVC32.dll and second Object name as: c:\Program Files (x86)\SearchProtect\SearchProtect\bin\SPVC64.dll AVG shows extended element information Process name, for both, as: c:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe Both are showing as healed but...
  13. The full scan is still on-going and AVG just popped-up another threat indication of MalSign.SearchProtect.1DD, twice, in the c:\Program Files (x86)\SearchProtect folder. I secured them both with AVG. The Malwarebytes Anti-Malware app is still doing its full scan.
  14. A few weeks ago I ran a couple programs I probably shouldn't have and have since uninstalled them. AVG Free Ed found an infection a week ago or so and quarantened it and found another that seemed similar tonight; in a Search Protect folder. So I Googled Search Protect and found that it wasn't good. Right now I'm running a full scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Please help. LoL
