Hi Dave-H: Please see n3MUmBgg5FA4vJrBbxBSc4PNv7's 13-Mar-2023 topic Legacy 3.5.1.2522 - Sudden "Red Triangle" "Your updates are not current" in the Malwarebytes for Windows board. When you say "pattern updates" do you mean that you're still able to download the latest updates for your malware definitions (i.e., your Update Package version) before you run a scan with the legacy version of Malwarebytes? AdvancedSetup's 29-Mar-2023 post <here> in that thread indicates that Malwarebytess will soon be changing the end of support / end of life dates for the legacy Malwarebytes v3.5.1 for Win XP and Vista in the support article Malwarebytes for Windows v3 Product Lifecycle. Just an FYI that I still have working Vista SP2 laptop. This old machine rarely gets booted up (and is never used online) since I purchased my Win 10 laptop but I'm still interested in Malwarebytes' future plans for supporting Win XP and Vista. If Malwarebytes officially ends supports for the legacy Malwarebytes Premium v3.5.1 this Vista machine will likely be recycled or I'll change the OS and install a Linux distro. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2728 * Firefox v111.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2302.7-1.1.20100.6 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.25.256-1.0.1957 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Has a final decision been made about EOL for Malwarebytes v3.5.1 (the legacy version for Win XP and Vista)? I checked the support article Malwarebytes for Windows v3 Product Lifecycle today and dates for End of Life / End of Support for Malwarebytes v3.5.1 are still blank. ____________________________________________________ Just an FYI to Malwarebytes employees that a Forum Mod already deleted the post (ID # 1346728) about Malwarebytes support for legacy Windows XP and Vista operating systems from Erix's pinned thread Malwarebytes 4 FAQs but forgot to remove the (now broken) link to that deleted post <here> in the table of contents. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2728 * Firefox v111.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2302.7-1.1.20100.6 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.25.256-1.0.1957 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Bump. Could @H4V0C or someone else from Malwarebytes explain what changes were made to Smart Scan in the current Malwarebytes v4.5.24 that differ from the way it behaved in v4.5.21 when it was first introduced? Perhaps I just don't understand how "existing scheduled scans" are defined in the 10-Mar-2023 release notes <here> for v4.5.24. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2728 * Firefox v111.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2301.6-1.1.20100.6 * Malwarebytes Premium v 4.5.24.248-1.0.1944 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi Porthos: What page are you referring to? I just checked the product lifecycle page at Malwarebytes for Windows v3 Product Lifecycle and it still indicates that the legacy v3.5.1 product for Win XP and Vista has not reached "End of Maintenance". I just suggested to someone in another forum that they should try a MB Free v3.5.1 Threat Scan on their Win XP SP3 machine just in case their Avast antivirus missed something. I would hope that Malwarebytes would have given us a bit of notice before they stopped delivering malware definition updates to Win XP and Vista users, if that's what they've done. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2604 * Firefox v111.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2301.6-1.1.200000.2 * Malwarebytes Premium v 4.5.24.248-1.0.1944 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

I have a question regarding the new Smart Scan option introduced in MB v4.5.21 that only allows scheduled scan to start when the computer is in idle mode. The release notes <here> for MB v4.5.21 (rel. 30-Jan-2023) said the new Smart Scan Feature was "on by default for all new scheduled scans", and my old 03-Feb-2023 image below confirms that Smart Scan was disabled in my existing daily Threat Scan as expected. However, the release notes <here> for MB v4.5.24 (rel. 10-Mar-2024) now state in part : After updating to MB Premium v4.5.24 I expected that Smart Scan would be enabled for my daily Threat Scan (the default scheduled scan created automatically for MB Premium), but it is still disabled. What conditions must be met before Smart Scan is automatically enabled for an existing scheduled scan? For example, would Smart Scan only be enabled if I performed a clean reinstall of Malwarebytes Premium that re-created my daily scheduled Threat Scan scan? Or should Smart Scan actually have been enabled for my existing daily Threat Scan after I updated to MB v4.5.24? mbst-grab-results.zip ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2604 * Firefox v110.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2301.6-1.1.200000.2 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.24.248-1.0.1944 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Malwarebytes and Windows Update Glitchy
lmacri replied to NewTricks's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Hi NewTricks: Have you disabled automatic Windows Updates? If so then perhaps that's why Security Advisor is warning you that you have a problem with your Windows Update settings. I don't know what Windows OS you use (I'm not authorized to open attached mbst-grab-results.zip files) but your Windows Update screenshot looks like you might have Win 7 SP1 or Win 8.1. If that's correct then go to Control Panel | System and Security | Windows Update | Change Settings | Important Updates as instructed in the ComputerHope article How to Enable or Disable the Windows Automatic Updates and see if you've selected "Never Check for Updates (not recommended)". If you deliberately disabled your automatic Windows Updates you should be able to dismiss / hide this Security Advisor warning (see Porthos' post <here>) so it doesn't nag you every time you restart your computer. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2604 * Firefox v110.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2301.6-1.1.200000.2 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.23.241-1.0.1927 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 -
Problem solved. Thanks to everyone for their feedback. I tried another manual update check at Settings | General | Application Updates | Check for Updates this morning and received the latest update to v4.5.22.236-1.0.1915. Hi robkarp: Thanks for the heads up. Did you receive an update to Malwarebytes v4.5.22.236-1.0.1909 (rel. 09-Feb-2023) or the new Malwarebytes v4.5.22.236-1.0.1915 with the updated Component Package (rel. 13-Feb-2023)? I noticed that @H4V0C posted release notes <here> for v4.5.22.236-1.0.1915 about an hour ago but the only fix listed is "Broken link for Buy now button in tray notifications". The v4.x offline installer offered at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline hasn't been updated yet and is still offering last Thursday's mb4-setup-consumer-4.5.22.236-1.0.1909-1.0.65518.exe installer. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2486 * Firefox v109.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2211.5-1.1.19900.2 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.21.231-1.0.1890 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.21.0 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Malwarebytes v4.5.22.236-1.0.1909 was released on 09-Feb-2023 (see @H4V0C's <here>) but when I click "Check for Updates" at either Settings | General | Application Updates or at Settings | About | Version Information my current Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.21.231-1.0.1890 reports "Malwarebytes is up to date". These manual update checks will deliver available malware definition updates but cannot find the v4.5.22 product update, and the issue persists after a system restart (note: my laptop is powered off every evening and my Win 10 Fast Startup power option is disabled). mbst-grab-results.zip The URL for the latest v4.x offline installer at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline is currently offering the mb4-setup-consumer-4.5.22.236-1.0.1909-1.0.65518.exe installer so I assume I could probably do an over-the-top update, but I'm just wondering why my manual "Check for Updates" isn't working as expected today. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2486 * Firefox v109.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2211.5-1.1.19900.2 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.21.231-1.0.1890 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.21.0 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

I updated to MB Premium v4.5.20.230-1.0.1868 (rel. 12-Jan-2022) today. Shortly after updating I noticed the release notes for MB v4.5.20 had been removed from Erix's pinned topic Malwarebytes 4.5. Has the v4.5.20 rollout been paused because of a known issue? Also, the only change for v4.5.20 under "What's New" for the release notes said "Enhanced tray behavior for left click". However, I re-booted my system after my update to v4.5.20 and when I left-click the system tray icon all it does is open the user interface; when I right-click the system tray icon the options in the pop-up menu look identical to the v4.5.19 version. What enhanced behaviour should we be seeing with the left click? I also noticed that a monthly 30-day security summary was displayed the first time I opened the v4.5.20 interface after the update was applied, even though I have no detections in my Detection History and my summary is only supposed to be displayed if I had a detection in that 30-day period. However, that glitch started with the previous v4.5.19. ----------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2486 * Firefox v108.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2211.5-1.1.19900.2 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.20.230-1.0.1868 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi BjelakovicL: Problem fixed. Thanks for whitelisting IP address 72.167.57.110. This has resolved an additional glitch that I wasn't expecting. When I click the insecure "Weekly Flyer" link (http://familyfoods.ca/flyers/fffA-1.pdf), my Firefox browser is now able to automatically re-direct me to the secure HTTPS address at https://familyfoods.ca/flyers/fffA-1.pdf. I'm having an issue downloading the PDF of the weekly flyer for my local grocery store, Downtown Family Foods. I can browse to https://www.downtownfamilyfoods.ca/shop/content/pages/Flyers without a problem but when I click the "Weekly Flyer" link (http://familyfoods.ca/flyers/fffA-1.pdf) on that page I see the following block for IP address 72.167.57.110 (see attached detection log) in my Firefox browser: MB v4_5_18 Web Protection Block 72_167_57_110 Family Foods Flyer 05 Dec 2022.txt Since the PDF of the weekly flyer is located on an insecure HTTP server (and my Firefox setting at Privacy & Security | HTTPS-Only Mode is set to Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in All Windows) I'm used to seeing the HTTPS_Only Mode Alert: Secure Site Not Available warning in my Firefox browser, but I normally click "Continue to HTTP Site" to open the PDF in my browser. However, the simultaneous Malwarebytes Web Protection block for IP address 72.167.57.110 just started appearing in the past week or so with both MB v4.5.18.226-1.0.1823 and MB v4.5.18.226-1.0.1838. I'm not sure now if there's actually malware on that insecure HTTP server (I didn't click "Continue to HTTP Site" out of an abundance of caution) or if there's been change in behaviour with the way that MB Premium Web Protection (or my MB Browser Guard for Firefox v2.5.5 extension) are now handling insecure HTTP connections. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2251 * Firefox v107.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2210.6-1.1.19900.2 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.18.226-1.0.1838 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.5.5 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi digmorcrusher: Thanks for the feedback (and "Hi" back at you from the Keystone Province. Go Bombers!!) When you say that your geolocation worked at https://www.mygroceryoffers.ca/ as expected "using Chrome and not using MB" could you just confirm that you weren't using Malwarebytes Premium at the time? Or did you mean that you weren't using Malwarebytes Browser Guard with your Chrome browser? Hi AdvancedSetup: Here's the requested MBST diagnostic logs. mbst-grab-results.zip I'm not sure why, but after enabling Event Logging in MB and rebooting, the first time I browsed to https://www.mygroceryoffers.ca/ I didn't see the usual pop-up asking me if I would like to allow the site to access my geolocation. However, the site still incorrectly defaulted to the wrong location of Nova Scotia (i.e., instead of Manitoba where I live). I closed and reopened my Firefox browser at ~ 1:50 PM and the pop-up returned as shown below the next two times I browsed to https://www.mygroceryoffers.ca/, which is what I normally see, so if you're checking the event log you might want to check events that occurred around 1:50 PM. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v21H2 build 19044.2251 * Firefox v107.0.1 * MS Edge v107.0.1418.62 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2210.6-1.1.19800.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.18.226-1.0.1823 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7175 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi jdb2: Thanks for posting about your problem. After reading your thread I discovered that a long-standing problem I've had where geolocation doesn't work correctly in my browser was actually caused by Malwarebytes Web Protecion, and like you, creating an exclusion for the website in Malwarebytes didn't solve the problem. I have a problem where my Firefox browser cannot automatically detect my geolocation if MB Premium's Web Protection module is enabled, even if the site is excluded in both Firefox and Malwarebytes. Kudos to jdb2 for posting Web Exclusions Not Working in Malwarebytes Premium 4.5.18 on 29-Nov-2022 and pointing me in the right direction. I live in Manitoba, Canada, and use Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.18 on a Win 10 Pro v21H2 laptop. Even before updating to v4.5.18, I noticed that every time I browsed to https://www.mygroceryoffers.ca/ (a website where I load weekly Scene+ reward offers from Sobeys grocery store) in my default Firefox browser it would repeatedly prompt me to allow Firefox to detect my geolocation, even though that site was excluded in my Firefox settings at Tools | Settings | Privacy & Security | Permissions | Locations | Settings. Each time I visited that site I would have to manually change my region to Manitoba on the home page. After reading jdb2's post today I temporarily turned OFF my Web Protection module in Malwarebytes, and when I browsed to https://www.mygroceryoffers.ca/ it correctly detected my geolocation. As jdb2 also observed, I created an exclusion for https://www.mygroceryoffers.ca/ in Malwarebytes at Settings | Allow List, but when I turned Web Protection back ON it once again prevented Firefox from detecting my location. I currently have Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.2.5 installed in my Firefox browser but if this browser extension is disabled (Tools | Add-ons and Themes | Extensions) my geolocation still doesn't work as long as Web Protection is turned ON in Malwarebytes Premium. Also note that I can reproduce this behaviour in my MS Edge browser. I understand that I can request to have https://www.mygroceryoffers.ca/ whitelisted in the False Positives | Website Blocking board but don't want to do this just in case there's a bug in Web Protection and Malwarebytes asks me to do further testing. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v21H2 build 19044.2251 * Firefox v107.0.1 * MS Edge v107.0.1418.62 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2210.6-1.1.19800.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.18.226-1.0.1823 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7175 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi AdvancedSetup: I use the latest Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.18 on my Win 10 v21H2 laptop and my current Update Package (malware definitions database) is v1.0.62831, not the v1.0.28086 you showed <above> for the legacy Malwarebytes Premium v3.5.1. Does the legacy Malwarebytes v3.5.1 use an older Update Package, or does the v3.5.1 product just use a different numbering system for Update Packages because it uses a different scan engine? ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v21H2 build 19044.2251 * Firefox v107.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2210.6-1.1.19800.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.18.226-1.0.1823 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7175 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi nheric: I ran both Malwarebytes Free v3.5.1 and Malwarebytes Premium v3.5.1 (the legacy version for Win XP and Vista) on my old Vista SP2 laptop. If you go to Settings | About the Update Package version (which is equivalent to the virus definition package) should increase on regular basis if your malware database is updating. Here's an old screenshot I captured in March 2019. The Malwarebytes version (3.5.1.2522) is the version of the main product/scan engine, while the Component Package version (1.0.365) is basically the version of the real-time protection modules of the trial and Premium editions of Malwarebytes (e.g., this includes Exploit Protection and Web Protection - note that the real-time Ransomware Protection module is not available for Win XP and Vista and will be automatically disabled). Since Malwarebytes v3.5.1 is a legacy product you will no longer see the version number of the main Malwarebytes version or the Component Package change on the About tab.
