Hi @AdvancedSetup : Just an FYI that SIRMAGICUS reported a similar problem in their 26-Aug-2023 thread Conflict but no one has replied in that thread since the OP posted their requested Malwarebytes Support Tool (mbst-grab-results.zip) diagnostic logs. In that case SIRMAGICUS was able to stop their Malwarebytes Native Message Service error by disabling the Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension in their browsers. ---------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.9 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi SPDIF: Thanks for the feedback. Good to know others are seeing this error as well. If open my Task Manager after launching my Firefox or MS Edge browser I often see an instance of MbamBgNativeMsg.exe running under those browsers (i.e., in addition to the background instance of MbamBgNativeMsg.exe shown in the second image below). I could be wrong, but I've always assumed this service has something to do with communication between the Web Protection feature of my Malwarebytes Premium and the Malwarebytes Browser Guard extensions in my browsers. I don't know if it's a bug or expected behaviour, but I also noticed today that the "Hide Dulplicate Warnings" setting is no longer present in my Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.6.9 settings. It's possible that setting isn't required anymore in newer versions of Malwarebytes Browser Guard, but here's an old screenshot of my Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.4.0 settings that I captured on 24-Apr-2022. I'm not sure what triggers these Malwarebytes Native Message Service errors that are logged in my Reliability Monitor and Event Viewer, but I ran several tests yesterday both with and without Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1 and/or Firefox v117 running the background and couldn't reproduce the error, and this error hasn't been logged (yet?) on my system today (03-Sep-2023) since I powered on my system. Just need to make a correction to my comment <above>. I did more testing and can confirm that Intel DSA v23.3.25.6 will run in my default Firefox browser if I disable Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.9 at Tools | Add-ons and Themes (i.e., even if Web Protection is turned on in MB Premium v4.6.1), but as soon as I re-enable this browser extension Intel DSA fails to run in my browser. ---------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.9 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi NewTricks: I can confirm that I've had the same error logged ~ 10 to 15 min after boot-up in my Win 10 Reliability Monitor (Problem Event Name: BEX64, see attached .txt file) starting 01-Sep-2023. The error logged by my Reliability Monitor on 26-Aug-2023 for invcol.exe (Inventory Collector) is for an executable associated with my Dell Update application and has nothing to do with Malwarebytes. I don't know if it's relevant, but my Malware Browser Guard for Firefox browser extension updated to v2.6.9 on 31-Aug-2023 and since then I've seen multiple problems on my computer, including the problem reported by cage22 on 01-Sep-2023 at Malwarebytes Browser Guard 2.6.9 Prevents Intel Driver Support Assistant where my Intel DSA v23.3.25.6 will not run in my Firefox browser even if I disable my Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.6.9 extension and disable the Web Protection module in Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1. I also noticed that my Microsoft Defender received the 30-Aug-2023 platform / engine updates (Platform: 4.18.23080.2006 | Engine: 1.1.23080.2005 - see release notes <here>) some time around 31-Aug-2023 or 01-Sep-2023. I can view my current MS Defender platform / engine versions by clicking the Windows Security icon in my system tray and selecting Settings (gear icon) | About. Note that Settings | Security | Windows Security Center | Always Register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center is DISABLED in my Malwarebytes Premium settings. mbst-grab-results lmacri 02 Sep 2023.zip Win 10 Pro v22H2 Reliability Monitor mbambgnativemsg_exe Error 02 Sep 2023.txt ---------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.9 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

My Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox extension updated to v2.6.9 yesterday (31-Aug-2023) and a few minutes after I opened my Firefox v117.0.0 browser today I saw duplicate pop-ups displaying the monthly summary. Each pop-up had to be closed separately (i.e., clicking the "x" on one pop-up did not close both). I am relatively certain that I had previously disabled the display of monthly summaries in my MB Browser Guard for FF settings but when I checked today that setting appears to have been RE-ENABLED. I checked my Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 settings and Notifications | Show a Monthly Security Summary remains DISABLED. __________________________________________________ Note that I launched my MS Edge v116.0.1938.62 browser today, which has Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Chrome v2.6.9 (installed from the Chrome Web Store), and no monthly summary was displayed. Can you, please, add an anti-keylogger on MalwareBytes?
lmacri replied to AlfaVitaY2K's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows
Hi AlfaVitaY2K: No. I've never claimed that any one antivirus or anti-malware product could claim to be 100% effective in stopping 100% of all threats 100% of the time. Apologies if I've said anything to offend you. I said before that adding keystroke encryption to Malwarebytes sounds like a good idea and something that Malwarebyes might want to peruse. I have nothing further to add so I'll step out of this thread now that I understand your definition of "anti-keylogger software". ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Firefox v116.0.3 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23070.1004-1.1.23070.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.0.277-1.0.2114 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 -

lmacri replied to AlfaVitaY2K's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows
Hi AlfaVitaY2K: Malwarebytes Premium doesn't encrypt keystrokes, but it does currently offer some real-time protection against keyloggers. See the image in the Malwarebytes Lab detection blog entry Spyware.Keylogger I previously mentioned that shows Malwarebytes Premium blocking the installation of a keylogger. Someone with more knowledge with the inner workings of Malwarebytes would have to tell you what detection method(s) [e.g., real-time behaviour-based heuristics detection, file-based detection of SHA-256 hashes for known keyloggers, web-based protection to block malicious sites, etc.] they use to protect against keyloggers. ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Firefox v116.0.3 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23070.1004-1.1.23070.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.0.277-1.0.2114 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 -

Hi AlfaVitaY2K: You weren't clear in your original post, but by "anti-keylogger" I assume you mean that you would like Malwarebytes to encrypt every keystroke that you write online to prevent keyloggers from capturing sensitive data like credit card numbers (i.e., like HitmanPro.Alert does) in addition to the real-time protection Malwarebytes Premium now provides against keyloggers. If so I agree that would be a useful feature to have, at least in the home consumer editions of Malwarebytes. As David H. Lipman noted <above>, I'm not sure this type of keystroke encryption could be added to any of their business products like Malwarebytes Endpoint Protection. ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Firefox v116.0.3 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23070.1004-1.1.23070.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.0.277-1.0.2114 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 -

Hi AlfaVitaY2K. You might find some helpful information in the Malwarebytes Lab detection blog entry Spyware.Keylogger, which is "Malwarebytes' generic detection name for applications that can harvest keystrokes, screenshots, network activity, and other information from systems where it is installed". ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Firefox v116.0.3 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23070.1004-1.1.23070.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.0.277-1.0.2114 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 -
I like the new Protection Score graphic in the rebranded Trusted Advisor (previously known as Security Advisor) in MB v4.6.0 but I'm not keen on the headers you're using for the dashboard messages like "Crushing it". I don't know what other categories you use for lower scores, but it seems a bit unprofessional and makes Trusted Advisor look more like a marketing tool than a security feature. These headers just clutter the dashboard and remind me of the goofy smiley / sad face icons that used to be displayed on the dashboard in older versions of Malwarebytes. I'm not sure how well slang like "Crushing it" translates for non-English users, and it looks like the Protection Score graphic already tells users if their overall security is Excellent / Fair / Poor, so I'd like to suggest that Malwarebytes completely remove these headers from the dashboard messages. A Protection Score scale of 0 to 100% and brief explanation (e.g., like the current "You have no items on your checklist") should be sufficient without telling me I'm totally awesome 🙂. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Firefox v116.0.3 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23070.1004-1.1.23070.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.0.277-1.0.2114 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279

[ RESOLVED ] using malwarebytes
lmacri replied to abbaqa's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Hi abbaqa: If you paid for a Premium license and have a Win 7 SP1 or higher operating system then all four protection modules (Web Protection / Malware Protection / Ransomware Protection / Exploit Protection) on the main Dashboard should be turned on as shown below to ensure you are protected in real-time. The support article Real-Time Protection in Malwarebytes for Windows explains how these four modules will protect you from online scams and phishing sites while you are browsing (if Web Protection is enabled) and should detect and block or remove potential threats that try to infect your system in real-time. Settings for some of these modules can be configured (e.g., Settings | Security | Exploit Protection | Manage Protected Applications; Settings | Allow List | Add | Allow a Website, etc.) but in most cases the settings for your real-time protection should only be changed if they are causing a problem and a Malwarebytes employee or Trusted Advisor like Porthos has confirmed that it is safe to do so. According to the support article Security Settings in Malwarebytes for Windows the settings in your 14-Aug-2023 image <above> at Settings | Security | Scan Options are the rules Malwarebytes uses when you run a manual scan like a Threat Scan (Dashboard | Scanner | Scan button) to look for any malware, PUPs (potentially unwanted software like browser toolbars, adware, etc.) or PUMs (potentially unwanted registry modification) that were missed by your antivirus and/or Malwarebytes Premium real-time protection - see Scan Types in Malwarebytes for Windows for a list of the locations on your system that manual Threat Scans and Quick Scans will scan for hidden malware. If you have a scheduled scan at Dashboard | Scanner | Scheduled Scan you can edit the default scheduled scan options (e.g., Scan for Rootkits, etc.) as instructed in the support article Set Up Scheduled Scans in Malwarebytes for Windows. To configure the options for a one-time Custom Scan (e.g., Scan for Rootkits, specific folders to scan, etc.) go to Dashboard | Scanner | Advanced Scanners | Custom Scan | Configure Scan . Here are my Scan Options settings for my manual scans, which match what Porthos recommended <above>: I'd advise that you use the default settings at Settings | Security | Scan Options that are shown in my image above and leave both Scan for Rootkits and Use Expert System Algorithms to Identify Malicious Files turned OFF. The support article Security Settings in Malwarebytes for Windows notes that enabling a rootkit scan for every manual scan will significantly increase the time to complete each scan and this setting is disabled by default. Use of scanning with Expert System Algorithms is still experimental and can significantly increase the number of false positive detections (i.e., when files are incorrectly flagged as "potentially dangerous" even though they are safe) during a scan and could remove a "legitimate" file needed to run important software so this setting is currently disabled by default as well - see Malwarebytes employee pbust's Sept 2021 Malware.Heuristic.100X Detections and Explanation for further details. All Malwarebytes v4.x settings are described in detail in the online Malwarebytes for Windows v4 User Guide. In general, the only setting most Win 10 and Win 11 users need to change in Malwarebytes Premium is to go to Settings | Security | Windows Security Center and disable Always Register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center as Porthos suggested <above>. This will ensure that Microsoft Defender (or whatbever antivirus you use) is still active and acts as your primary real-time protection, while Malwarebytes Premium runs in the background as a second layer of protection to detect anything in real-time that is missed by your antivirus. ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Firefox v116.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23070.1004-1.1.23070.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.34.275-1.0.2102 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 -
Do @H4V0C 's release notes <here> have an incorrect version number for today's v4.5.34.278-1.0.2102 update (rel. 08-Aug-2023)? I installed the update via Settings | General | Application Updates | Check for Updates and the update seemed to run to completion without any problems, but according to both Settings | About and Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features I still have the previous v4.5.34.275 scan engine I installed on 03-Aug-2023, and only the Component Package updated to v1.0.2102. A system re-boot did not change anything. If this isn't a typo in the release notes then a similar issue was reported back in Sept 2021 in BillH99999's Update to MB 4.4.7.134 Left Wrong Version in Registry So SUMo Flagged It when MB v4.4.6 was updated to v4.4.7. In that case the problem was traced back to the installer not updating the uninstall key DisplayVersion and DisplayName and the problem had to be fixed by Malwarebytes in a later release. ______________________________ Here's my diagnostic logs, just in case this wasn't a typo in the release notes. mbst-grab-results.zip ------------ 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3208 * Firefox v116.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.9-1.1.23060.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.34.275-1.0.2102 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

lmacri replied to baktazjam's topic in General Windows PC Help
Hi baktazjam: If you won't provide any details about your operating system, antivirus, default browser or Malwarebytes product name / version number and won't attach diagnostic logs collected by the Malwarebytes Support Tool then we cannot assist you. As I said before, the image you posted <above> does not look like the settings in my Windows 10 v22H2 / Malwarebytes v4.5.33.272-1.0.2069 installation. I noticed your image shows you use Avast One as your antivirus. I don't use a third-party antivirus (Microsoft Defender is my primary antivirus) and I have never used an Avast antivirus, but you should be aware that there is a known conflict with the web protection modules in Avast antivirus products and Malwarebytes - see the Malwarebytes support article Issues Running Other Security Applications and Malwarebytes for Windows. This is likely something Porthos or the Malwarebytes employees would have noticed if you had provided your Malwarebytes Support Tool diagnostic logs when they were requested. ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3208 * Firefox v115.0.3 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.9-1.1.23060.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.33.272-1.0.2069 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 -
unable to start in a normal mod of windows
lmacri replied to baktazjam's topic in General Windows PC Help
Hi baktazjam: Are you using a Malwarebytes for Business product like Malwarebytes Nebula or Malwarebytes Endpoint Security? This Malwarebytes for Windows forum board is for the home consumer edition of Malwarebytes for Windows, and my Malwarebytes for Windows v4.5.33 setting at Security | Update Threat Intelligence looks like Porthos' image <above>. I don't have a setting at General | Updates like the image you showed <here>. From my Windows 10 computer: It might be helpful if you gathered some diagnostic logs using the Malwarebytes Support Tool as instructed in Porthos' 10-Jul-2023 post <here> and attached the mbst-grab-results.zip to your next reply. To attach a your .zip file file click the choose files... link in the message editor as shown below to upload the file. Once the .zip file is uploaded you can click your mouse where you want to insert your attachment, and then Insert the uploaded file in the body of your message just as you would an uploaded image. If you have a problem uploading the mbst-grab-results.zip file created on your desktop try moving the file to another location like your Documents folder (C:\Users\<yourusername>\Documents). Note that only senior forum members like Porthos (a Trusted Advisor) and Malwarebytes employees are permitted to open attached mbst-grab-results.zip files. ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3208 * Firefox v115.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.9-1.1.23060.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.33.272-1.0.2069 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 -
Hi digmorcrusher: If a user experiences a problem during or after after a product update with the internal updater (Settings | General | Application Updates | Check for Updates) they are often asked to try an over-the-top update with the latest full offline installer (see Porthos' 29-Jun-2023 post in Stuck at 19% of Installation - I Include the Log for one example). Given the frequent lag between the official release date that a new Malwarebytes product update starts rolling out and the date the corresponding full offline installer is posted at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline, I imagine most users would like to know if they actually had the "latest" full offline installer before they tried an over-the-top update. As I noted in my post <above>, my other concern is that Malwarebytes is using the same file name MBSetup.exe for the online (stub) installer and the full offline installer. I would have thought using different file names for two installers with different SHA-2 hashes was just good practice. ---------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3208 * Firefox v115.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23060.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279

Hi AdvancedSetup: Sorry to hear that. I hope Malwarebytes eventually goes back to the old naming convention (e.g., mb4-setup-consumer-4.5.32.271-1.0.2051-1.0.71xxx.exe) for the full offline installer so users can easily tell which version of MB v4.x is included with the installer. It's even more confusing now that the small online 2.5 MB download manager (stub installer) at https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download and the ~280 MB full offline installer at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline are both named MBSetup.exe. It would be helpful if Malwarebytes could at least use a different generic name (e.g., MBSetupFullOffline.exe) for the full offline installer. ---------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3208 * Firefox v115.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.5-1.1.23060.1005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.32.271-1.0.2051 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279

Hi P1W: Are you certain that https://data-cdn.mbamupdates.com/web/mb4-setup-consumer/offline/MBSetup.exe isn't part of Malwarebytes' authorized CDN (Content Distribution Network)? If I download today from the "official" download link https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline the pop-up in my Firefox browser shows that the large 306 MB MBSetup.exe file is actually located on data-cdn.mbamupdates.com as shown below: I tested today and both links provided by jrman505 are currently downloading a large 306 MB MBSetup.exe file with a SHA-256 hash of 18d99ac8bfbdbb77d62ebf40788bcd55c1f0814251e6b121b8e6426c09b83087. This might tie in with the problem you raised in your 13-Jun-2023 thread What's the conventional version number of the mb4_offline installer? about how the latest full offline installer downloaded from the "official" download link at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline is incorrectly named MBSetup.exe (the name usually reserved for the small 2.5 MB online stub installer / download manager available at https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download) instead of mb4-setup-consumer-4.5.30.269-1.0.2037-1.0.xxxxx.exe (the name we would normally expect for the current full 306 MB offline installer released on 05-Jun-2023). _________________________________ Regardless, I would agree with you that jrman505 should always use the "official" download link https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline that is recommended for home consumers who want to download the latest Malwarebytes v4.5.x offline installer for Win 7 SP1 and higher. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2965 * Firefox v114.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.3-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.30.269-1.0.2037 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279

Hi P1W: I noticed the same issue a few days ago. If I browse to https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline I am currently offered a 306 MB file named MBSetup.exe, but I was expecting the latest full offline installer to be named mb4-setup-consumer-4.5.30.269-1.0.2037-1.0.xxxxx.exe (where 1.0.xxxxx is the bundled malware definitions update package). ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2965 * Firefox v114.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.3-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.30.269-1.0.2037 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279

Hi Chris_in_Makati: If you haven't found a solution yet let us know your location and current time zone (e.g., Makati, Phillipines / PHST). You might have the same issue that Krusty has reported in the past (see their October 2022 Scheduled Scan Not Changing When Daylight Savings Changes for one example) where their scheduled scans will sometimes run 1 hour early or 1 hour late if Malwarebytes does not account for the change to / from Daylight Savings Time for their location in Eastern Australia. If you are having a similar issue and don't want to wait for a bug fix then changing both the Start Date and Start Time of your scheduled scan (or deleting your scheduled scan and creating a new one) often fixes the problem. If you are already working with Malwarebytes Support on this problem just check with them first before making any changes to your scheduled scan settings in case they want you to test something for them with your current settings. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2965 * Firefox v114.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23050.3-1.1.23050.3 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.30.269-1.0.2037 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279

Is Malwarebytes planning to post a full offline installer for the latest Malwarebytes v4.5.29.268-1.0.2022 (rel. 17-May-2023) at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline? I checked today and that link is still offering the previous mb4-setup-consumer-4.5.28.266-1.0.2005-1.0.69217.exe installer. I have automatic product updates disabled in Malwarebytes and normally delay updating until the latest offline installer is posted. According to my notes and as best as I can recall, I've never enabled Tamper Protection (Settings | General | Tamper Protection | Limit Who Can Change Your Malwarebytes Settings) or clean reinstalled MB 4.x since MB v4.2.1.89-1.0.1061 was originally installed on my Win 10 laptop on 14-Oct-2020. Are you certain that Security Advisor never stopped monitoring Tamper Protection? When I checked my Security Advisor details in MB Premium v4.5.7.186-1.0.1645 on 31-Mar-2022 I could not find any mention of the status of my Tamper Protection monitoring under General Settings, in my dismissed (hidden) items, or in any other section of Security Advisor - see my 31-Mar-2022 post in the product suggestion MB v4.5.4 Security Advisor Warning for Tamper Protection Confusing. Porthos replied <here> that same day confirming that "It is not any more on mine", which is why I assumed Malwarebytes had decided to stop monitoring the status of the Tamper Protection setting. When these Security Advisor pop-ups about Tamper Protection first started appearing back in early 2022 many users enabled Tamper Protection without understanding the consequences and later discovered that they couldn't manage their configuration settings or uninstall Malwarebytes because they had forgotten their Tamper Protection password. Is it possible that the software devs temporarily removed Tamper Protection monitoring in Security Advisor until they could improve documentation for this feature? If the software devs added Tamper Protection monitoring back into Security Advisor after MB v4.5.7 was released that might have "unhidden" my Security Advisor warning that Tamper Protection was turned off and I just didn't notice it. If that's correct then I'm guessing something changed recently because yesterday was the first time I've seen a system tray notification nagging me to turn on Tamper Protection in over a year. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2846 * Firefox v112.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2303.8-1.1.20200.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.27.262-1.0.1991 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

I received a pop-up in my system tray today with a generic warning to check Security Advisor for an unresolved issue. I clicked the Check Security Advisor button and was surprised to see that my warning to enable Tamper Protection (Settings | General | Tamper Protection | Limit Who Can Change Your Malwarebytes Settings) is back. It was surprising to see see this since I had dismissed this warning in MB v4.5.5 (see the third image in my old 03-Mar-2021 post in Security Advisor Warning Returns After Being Dismissed in MB v4.4.10) and it is my understanding is that Security Advisor monitoring of the Tamper Protection setting was completely removed from MB v4.5.7 in March 2022. See my 31-Mar-2022 post in my thread MB v4.5.4 Security Advisor Warning for Tamper Protection Confusing, as well as @Porthos's subsequent reply confirming that Security Advisor in their MB v4.5.7 was no longer monitoring the status of their Tamper Protection setting. I noticed that the change log <here> for MB v4.5.27 says this version fixed an issue where "Security Advisor alerting when Chrome is up to date". Did Malwarebytes re-introduce monitoring of the Tamper Protection setting in v4.5.27, and if so why does my main dashboard have a green status (Your device is protected") when I have not clicked the small "x" highlighted in blue in my second image above to dismiss my Tamper Protection warning yet. If I'm getting system tray pop-ups advising me to turn on Tamper Protection (which I don't want to do) then I would have expected my dashboard to have an orange status ("Careful, you're not fully protected") until that warning was dismissed. mbst-grab-results.zip ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2846 * Firefox v112.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2303.8-1.1.20200.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.27.262-1.0.1991 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi Porthos: Thanks, mystery solved. After seeing your image I found the following in the 15-Mar-2022 v4.5.6 release notes <here>, so I assume that's what I was looking for: Just a suggestion, but perhaps @AdvancedSetup or one of the other Malwarebytes employees could ask to have the following comment about notifications for scheduled scans deleted from the Malwarebytes support article Set up scheduled scans in Malwarebytes for Windows, since that information seems to be out-of-date. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2846 * Firefox v112.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2303.8-1.1.20200.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.27.262-1.0.1991 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Does anyone know if the option to "Notify me when a scan completes, only if items are detected" in the advanced settings of scheduled scans is no longer available in the latest MB v4.5.27 (rel. 20-Apr-2023)? According to the Malwarebytes support article Set up scheduled scans in Malwarebytes for Windows (see item # 4 of the section "Add or Edit scheduled scans") this option should be available, but when I check the Advanced settings of my default daily Threat Scan (i.e., if I choose "Scanner" tile on main GUI | Scan Scheduler | Edit | Advanced) there is no option to "Notify me when a scan completes, only if items are detected". I created a new custom scan today and confirmed that option is also missing from newly created scheduled scans as well- at least on my system. The image in Porthos' 21-Dec-2021 post in the product suggestion Please let me disable SCAN COMPLETE notifications shows that this option was added to MB v4.5.0 (see the 13-Dec-2021 release notes <here>), but if that option was removed at some point after December 2021 I can't find any mention of that change in the Malwarebytes 4.5 release notes. mbst-grab-results.zip ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.2846 * Firefox v112.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2303.8-1.1.20200.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.27.262-1.0.1991 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
