Hi Arsenal123: Just an FYI that Malwarebytes employee H4V0C has just posted release notes for Malwarebytes v4.6.5.293-1.0.2181 in the topic Malwarebytes 4.6 that is pinned at the top of this Malwarebytes for Windows forum. ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3570 * Firefox v119.0.0 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23090.2008-1.1.23090.2007 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.4.286-1.0.2163 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7690

Hi G7TOK: I don't know the reason why Malwarebytes needs to collect all the "required" data for the daily check-in that was described in Porthos' 16-Oct-2023 post <above> (i.e., the telemetry data that is sent even if users DISABLE collection of "optional" data at General | Usage and Threat Statistics | Provide Usage and Threat Statistics), but I suspect most of that "required" data like your Malwarebytes version number, Windows OS and license status also needs to sent each time you check for available updates for your Malwarebytes product and/or malware definitions to ensure the correct updates are delivered to your system. The URLs listed in Porthos' 15-Oct-2023 post <above>, as well as their purpose, are documented in the support article Firewall Rules for Malwarebytes on Windows v4 Devices. ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3570 * Firefox v118.0.2 * Microsoft Edge v118.0.2088.57 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23090.2008-1.1.23090.2007 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.4.286-1.0.2163 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7690

Hi @H4V0C : Are release notes being prepared for Malwarebytes v4.6.5.293 for your pinned topic at Malwarebytes 4.6?? My SUMo (Software Update Monitor) utility started reporting that a v4.6.5.293 update was available last night (19-Oct-2023) and according to the SUMo documentation page <here> over 50% of Malwarebytes users in the wider SUMo community have already updated from v4.6.4.286 to v4.6.5.293. ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3570 * Firefox v118.0.2 * Microsoft Edge v118.0.2088.57 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23090.2008-1.1.23090.2007 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.4.286-1.0.2163 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7690 * SUMo Free Portable v5.17.10.542

Hi Dave-H: This appears to be a known issue for all Malwarebytes users. See AdvancedSetup's post today in Arsenal123's 08-Oct-2023 malwarebytes is up to date confirming that Malwarebytes is working on a fix. Hi AdvancedSetup: WuMgr (available at https://github.com/DavidXanatos/wumgr) is also compatible with Windows 11 - see the replies to my post #2591562 in the AskWoody tutorial 6000002 Guide to Using WUMGR for Windows 10 Updates from Win 11 users who use this utility to manage their Windows updates. The current WuMgr v1.1 was released on 11-Dec-2019 before the official release of Windows 11 on 05-Oct-2021, which is likely why some documentation still refers to this utility as WuMgr for Windows 10. WUMgr v1.x and Windows Update Mini Tool v22.x are both currently recommended by Susan Bradley (MS MVP and AskWoody Newsletter publisher) at https://blockapatch.com/. Regardless, there may be other ways that NewTricks can fix their Windows Update problem (e.g., by running the built-in Windows Update Troubleshooter) if their Windows updates are still failing. ------------ Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3448 * Firefox v118.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23090.2008-1.1.23090.2007 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.4.286-1.0.2163 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279

Hi NewTricks: Good to hear your Malwarebytes Native Message Service - Stopped Working errors have stopped. Are you still having problems with the Windows Update failures you mentioned <here> in your 17-Sep-2023 post? If so you might want to read my 16-Sep-2023 post # 2587839 in the AskWoody forum thread September Patches, Apple Headlines and Browsers! about a problem I frequently encounter where Windows Update prompts me to restart my computer as soon as any available Microsoft .NET Framework update finishes installing (i.e., as soon as the status changes from "Installing" to "Pending Restart") even though my monthly Quality Update is still downloading or installing. This early "Restart Now" prompt has become a common issue in the past year or so - see TechTango's 02-Oct-2023 post <here> for more details - and my September 2023 Patch Tuesday updates were especially problematic and ran very slowly on my Win 10 machine because the monthly Quality Update KB5030211 included a new Windows Backup app. Whenever Windows Update prompts me to "Restart Now" I now know that I should open my Windows Update settings at Settings | Update & Security | Windows Update just to confirm that all updates have finished installing and have a status of "Pending Restart". Many Win 10 / Win 11 users in the AskWoody forum now use a utility called WUMgr to give themselves greater control over their Windows updates and avoid this early "Restart Now" problem. EDIT: I just found your March 2023 thread Malwarebytes and Windows Update Glitchy. If you're still having Windows Update problems be sure to let us know if you are still using that same Windows 7 computer. I don't' have sufficient privileges in this forum to open your attached mbst-grab-results.zip files and see your system specs. ---------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3448 * Firefox v118.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23090.2007 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.3.282-1.0.2158 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279

Hi Porthos: I already stated today that setting was OFF in Malwarebytes Premium in my previous post <above>. As I said before, I'll do a factory reset and update of MB Browser Guard for FF as 1PW suggested next month if the problem returns and the monthly summary appears in Firefox again, but thanks for the reminder. If no one else is seeing their MB Browser Guard for FF settings reset to their defaults after the extension is updated then it's probably just an odd glitch on my system. I don't expect Malwarebytes to do anything about it if it's not a widespread / reproducible issue for other users. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3448 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.3.282-1.0.2158 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v118.0.1 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.10 * uBlock Origin v1.52.2

Hi Porthos: I agree. My problem is that I keep turning OFF the option at Settings (gear icon) | Notifications | Monthly Summary in MB Browser Guard for FF and it keeps turning itself back ON. I don't know if this happens when the extension automatically updates, but as a result I see the unwanted monthly summary pop-up in my default Firefox browser on the 1st day of the month. As I noted in previous posts, this doesn't happen with the MB Browser Guard for Chrome extension that is installed in my MS Edge browser. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3448 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.3.282-1.0.2158 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v118.0.1 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.10 * uBlock Origin v1.52.2

Hi 1PW: Am I correct that a factory reset will remove all my custom settings, including sites I've whitelisted in the Allow List? If so I'll just wait until the next MB Browser Guard for FF update is released to see if it re-enables my Monthly Summary notification setting. If that setting does eventually re-enable itself again then I'll go ahead with the factory reset. Regardless, I wouldn't be able to tell you today if a factory reset and check for database updates in MB Browser Guard for FF fixed the problem because I'll have to wait until 01-Nov-2023 to see if the Monthly Summary pops up again. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3448 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.3.282-1.0.2158 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v118.0.1 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.10 * uBlock Origin v1.52.2

Just a status update to report that I did not see duplicate monthly summaries this month, but a pop-up showing my monthly summary did unexpectedly appear in my Firefox browser today (01-Oct-2023), and when I checked my MB Browser Guard for FF v2.6.10 settings it showed that notifications for my monthly summary had re-enabled itself again (see images below). My Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.3 setting at Settings (gear icon) Notifications | Show a Monthly Security Summary remains DISABLED. When the next update for MB Browser Guard for FF is released I'll try to remember to check if this settings is automatically turned on after each update. I know that there have been a few bug fixes pushed out this past month to improve interactions between Malwarebytes Premium and MB Browser Guard, so perhaps one of these bug fixes reset the settings in my MB Browser Guard for FF extension back to their defaults. Note that this glitch did not occur with MB Browser Guard for Chrome v2.6.10 . I opened MS Edge v17.0.2045.47 today and no monthly summary appeared and the MB Browser Guard for Chrome option at Settings (gear icon) | Notifications | Monthly Summary remains disabled, which is what I observed last month in my 01-Sep-2023 post <above>. ------------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3448 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.3.282-1.0.2158 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v118.0.1 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.10 * uBlock Origin v1.52.2

Malwarebytes Native Message Service error
lmacri replied to ram5thwheel's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Hi ram5thwheel: I don't have sufficient privileges in the forum to view your attached PDF, but according to AdvancedSetup's 22-Sep-2023 post in NewTrick's Malwarebytes Native Message Service Stopped Working the bug causing this error to be logged in the Reliability Monitor has been fixed in the latest Malwarebytes v4.6.3.282-1.0.2151 that started rolling out yesterday. H4V0C's 22-Sep-2023 release notes <here> state in part that Malwarebytes v4.6.3 has "Fixed Browser Guard integration". ------------ Dell Inspiron 15 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3448 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.3.2821-1.0.2151 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v11.7.0.1 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.6.10 -
Hi NewTricks: I'm not certain, but it looks like a bug fix for the Malwarebytes Native Message Service - Stopped Working errors was included in today's Malwarebytes v4.6.3.282-1.0.2151 update. From H4V0C's 22-Sep-2023 release notes <here>: I won't be able to confirm if today's Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.3-1.0.2151 update solves the problem because the last error I saw logged in my Reliability Monitor occurred on 09-Sep-2023 as noted in my 17-Sep-2023 post <above>. EDIT: Are you still having problems with your Windows Updates? If so you might want to gather a fresh set of diagnostic logs with the Malwarebytes Support Tool (Advanced tab | Gather Logs) and attach the mbst-grab-results.zip file to your next post. ------------ Dell Inspiron 15 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3448 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.2.281-1.0.2131 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v11.7.0.1 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.6.10

Hi NewTricks: Just checking in. Did an update to Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.6.10 and/or Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.2 fix your "Malwarebytes Native Message Service - Stopped Working" errors? It appears the error I saw on 09-Sep-2023 the day after my Malwarebytes Browser Guard (MBBG) for Firefox extension updated to v2.6.10 was indeed a one-time-only glitch. I monitored my system for another 4 days before updating to Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.2 on 13-Sep-2023 and haven't seen another error, so I'm still guessing that something I did on 02-Sep-2023 when I disabled and re-enabled Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1 and Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.6.9 (see details in my 05-Sep-2023 post <above>) must have done something to get my Malwarebytes Native Message Service back in sync. When I'm troubleshooting a minor glitch that isn't crashing my software or causing some other serious problem I prefer to make one change at a time and then monitor my system for a few days for look any change in behaviour. Jason Maxham wrote a blog post on troubleshooting in 2012 at Change Just One Thing that's a bit old but the basic principle still applies today. mbst-grab-results lmacri 17 Sep 2023.zip _________________________________ Just an aside, but I was able to confirm that the disk controller error that AdvancedSetup noticed in my diagnostic logs only happens when I plug in my old Verbatim 500 GB USB 2.0 external backup drive. ------------ 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3448 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.2.281-1.0.2131 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 * Firefox v117.0.1 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.6.10 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Well, this is disappointing. My Malwarebytes Native Messaging Service - Stopped Working errors have returned since my Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox extension updated to v2.6.10. 👎 Until today I had gone six days without one of these errors (i.e., since 02-Sep-2023 @ 6:13 AM - see details <here>) but after receiving the update for Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.6.10 yesterday on 08-Sep-2023 this error reappeared today in my Reliability Monitor on 09-Sep-2023 @ 6:33 AM. These errors always seem to occur about 30 min after I power up my laptop in the morning but I have no idea what triggers it. I'll monitor for a few days just to make sure this isn't a one-time occurrence and then update to the latest Malwarebytes Premium4.6.2.281-1.0.2131 to see if that fixes the problem. mbst-grab-results lmacri 09 Sep 2023.zip ---------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.6.10

Hi Porthos: Well, some do have Settings | General | Application Updates | Notify Me When A New Update Becomes Available DISABLED and would like to have that setting respected. I follow H4V0C's thread Malwarebytes 4.6 and already received an automated email notification today about the release of MB Premium v2.6.2. I don't need or want to see a pop-up notification on my screen every time a product update is released as well. I could have posted about this in the Comments and Suggestions board but didn't want to do that after my last suggestion <here> on 20-Aug-2023 was rejected out of hand by a staffer (somewhat flippantly, I felt) so if no one can tell me how to stop these "What's New" pop-ups without turning off all my notifications then I'll just have to live with it. ---------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.10

HI Porthos: My last automatic update check was about 20 minutes ago and I'm still on Version 4.6.1.280-1.0.2117, and likely will be for quite some time unless I do a manual check for product updates at Settings | General | Application Updates | Check for Updates. Are you saying that this "What's New" pop-up is supposed to appear when a product update is ready for download, even if my setting at General | Application Updates | Notify Me When A New Update Becomes Available is DISABLED? Now I don't know if the "What's New" pop-up I saw this morning was two weeks too late or two days too early. 🙂 ---------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.10

Affected users should note that a new Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.6.10 browser extension was just released. I can't confirm my own "Malwarebytes Native Message Service - Stopped Working" errors had something to do with my Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension (it could be a coincidence that I haven't had any further errors logged in my Reliability Monitor since I disabled and then re-enabled Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.6.9 in all my browsers on 02-Sep-2023 ) but users might want to check and see if their errors stop after all browsers (e.g., MS Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) that have the Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension installed have been updated to the latest v2.6.10. ---------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.6.10

I can also confirm that Intel Driver & Support Assistant v23.3.25.6 is launching correctly again in my default Firefox browser since I received the latest update for the Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.6.10 browser extension today. 👍 ---------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Firefox v2.6.10

Hi Porthos: If this is expected behaviour then a two week delay to tell me what's new with my last product update seems a bit excessive. I saw the following "What's New" pop-up from my system tray today, even though my MB Premium v4.6.1 update was installed back on 25-Aug-2023 and the setting at Notifications | Marketing Preferences | Show Promotional Notifications From Malwarebytes is DISABLED. Could this be a one-time glitch or is this a new behaviour that I should expect to see in the future? According to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/malwarebytes/versions/ a new MS Browser Guard for Firefox v2.6.10 was released on 05-Sep-2023 but I've opened and closed my Firefox browser a few times today and Tools | Add-ons and Themes | Extensions shows I'm still on v2.6.9 (updated 31-Aug-2023). I don't know if this is a coincidence, but in the past few days since the "Malwarebytes Native Message Service - Stopped Working" errors stopped being logged in my Reliability Monitor I've started seeing the "Let's confirm you are human" prompt shown below when I browse to the Malwarebytes forum. To date this challenge only appears intermittently, and only if I receive an automatic email notification in MS Outlook 2019 from Malwarebytes that someone has replied in a thread that I am following and I click the blue Go To This Post button in the email to try to automatically open the thread in my Firefox browser. Does anyone know if this pop-up challenge is legitimate, and if so is it some kind of experimental CAPTCHA feature added to the forum software or Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.6.9 that uses the Malwarebytes Native Message Service? As a precaution I've never clicked the orange "Begin" button on the pop-up to see what happens just in case this pop-up is some sort of malware - I simply close the browser tab and then browse to the Malwarebytes forum as I normally do using a bookmark (https://forums.malwarebytes.com/forum/41-malwarebytes-for-windows-support-forum/) that's saved on my Firefox bookmarks toolbar. mbst-grab-results lmacri 06 Sep-2023.zip ---------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.9 * Microsoft Office Home and Business 2019 Version 2308 / Build 16731.20170 Click-to-Run Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi AdvancedSetup: Thanks for the heads up. I checked those intermittent errors in my Event Viewer and they all appear to be associated with HardDisk1. According to Disk Management (Start | Windows Administrative Tools | Computer Management | Storage) my internal Toshiba SSD is HardDisk0 and HardDisk1 is only detected if I plug in an external USB drive, so I suspect the controller error is for a USB port or an old Verbatim 500 GB USB 2.0 external backup drive with a spinning HDD platter I purchased several years ago that I occasionally plug in. In the mean time can you suggest some sort of stress test that would be appropriate for an internal NVMe SSD? HWiNFO, ClearDIskInfo and Crystal Disk Info didn't find any obvious problems with my SSD, and the ePSA (enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment) hardware test I ran from my Dell BIOS didn't report any issues, but none of these diagnostics are very robust. ---------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.9 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Hi AdvancedSetup: Just an FYI that I haven't seen another "Malwarebytes Native Message Service - Stopped Working" error since 02-Sep-2023 @ 6:33 AM and all my protection modules are enabled in Malwarebytes Premium. Only guessing, but I ran various tests on 02-Sep-2023 to see if I could trigger one of these errors (I couldn't) so if Malwarebytes didn't fix the problem on their end then it's possible the following sequence of events I tried got my message service back in sync: Disabled Malwarebytes Premium setting at Security | Windows Startup | Launch Malwarebytes in the Background When Windows Starts. Disabled Malwarebytes Browser Guard in all browsers (for Firefox, enter about:addons in adress bar; for MS Edge enter edge://extensions in address bar). Re-started computer to prevent Malwarebytes Premium from loading at boot-up. Re-enabled Malwarebytes Browser Guard in all browsers. Re-enabled Malwarebytes Premium setting at Security | Windows Startup | Launch Malwarebytes in the Background When Windows Starts. Re-started computer to allow Malwarebytes real-time protection to load at boot-up. I power off my system every night and power on the next morning so I should have seen an error logged by now if they were triggered by a system restart as I originally suspected. I'll post back if I see these error messages re-appear in my Reliability Monitor. ---------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.3324 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.23080.2006-1.1.23080.2005 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.6.1.280-1.0.2117 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7279 * Dell Inspiron 5583/5584 BIOS v1.22.1 * Firefox v117.0.0 * Malwarebytes Browser Guard for FF v2.6.9 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
