  1. I have Cryptoprevent 8.034 Free. I wanted to complement it with a behavior-based Anti-Ransomware so I tried to install Ransomfree...they seem more current and focused on the WannaCrypt. Unfortunately, their installer is .msi and I got, "system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" Tried removeing the cryptoprevent protections restarting with protections disabled and stopping MB anti-exploit. RansomFree .msi stiill kicked up the "..prevent this installation" message. So I installed the MalwareBytes anti-ransomeware. No problems installing...no error messages. Then I reapplied the default Cryptoprevent 8.034 protections and restarted. No problems seen. CryptoPrevent test shows protections applied and MB AR shows an icon in the system tray...uses 53k memory and no cpu cycles...just quietly monitors it's honeypots. Note that the Cryptoprevent 8.034 premium versions DO include honepot protections so it may not be all that necessary to combine the two. As I see it, the free versions of Cryptoprevent and MB Anti-Ransomeware are complementary and play well together on my Windows 7 pro 64-bit system. As an aside, anyone who has applied the March 2017 Patch is protected, but being and belt and suspenders type, I take extra steps.
  2. I'm having 'mb has stopped' problem on lg phone android 7 & tablet android 6. Starts OK 2nd try on each. Also mbam reports the phone as rooted. It is not per CPU z. I never Roger it. I have started using AVG but will keep mbam as a backup on demand scanner.
  3. Java installed "New Tab by Yahoo" to Firefox when I was not paying sufficient attention during update...My bad. Getting rid of it was a royal pain. Sure would have been nice if MBAE had kicked up an, "Are you sure?" window. Left the following instruction on my review of this add-on to help others get rid of it without the trial and error I went through. "HOW TO REMOVE THIS MALWARE In Win7 Goto C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\browser\extensions\*gibberish*@jetpack.xpi delete the @jetpack.xpi you find" Perhaps there's something there that might help in writing an, "Are you sure?" block in MBAE. Please note that java is NASTY but necessary, so this is a very widespread problem. I knew not to allow the yahoo option and java update offered me that option with their recommended option being to install it...Had I been paying attention, it wouldn't have happened...but the same is true of many annoying exploits and toolbars...people get busy and miss things. Thanks for considering my suggestion.
  4. Uploaded this file on Virustotal 7/55 antimalware engines flagged it. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/fb6b1171776554a808c62f4045f5167603f70bf7611de64311ece0624b365397/analysis/1446680568/ I cleaned it from several PC's ...One PC where I'd installed and used it to get rid of some locked files...MBA-M didn't find any problem..only the program/installer bundle was flagged pre-installation. I looked at all the places where the delta search toolbar installs and found no evidence of it. Maybe MB anti-exploit blocked the install. Anyway, I went ahead and uninstalled unlocker because I just don't trust it.
  5. MBA-M Staff...the Uninstall Reinstall without trial advice worked great!! Thanks. Might not be a bad idea to offer a button to stop those pop-ups...not likely to encourage users sign on for the paid version, methinks. After the reinstall I ran MBA-M and it flagged 'unlocker' a program widely used to unlock locked files and USB drives. Avast & SuperAntispyware missed it, but virustotal showed the file had Delta toolbar in the installer. I've since cleaned it from several PC's Thanks again
  6. I just don't want to waste the valuable time of experts on this thread...diagnostic deep dives have not fixed other problems on other PC's so I'm reluctant to engage in another when it's really not necessary...due to multiple anti-malware programs. By quick fix, I was referring to a change in preferences/settings that might stop the MBAM screen pop-ups.
  7. Thanks, but I was looking for a quick fix, not a deep dive into the diagnostic quagmire...Since I'm using MBAM as a secondary scanner along with several other anti-malware measures, I uninstalled it. I'll try MBAM again in a later version. Thanks for replying
  8. Set up a Win7 PC with MBAM free. Several times a day, I look over a there's a large MBAM window in the middle of the screen. Doesn't happen with other PC's with MBAM installed. How do I stop this annoyance short of uninstalling MBAM? Thanks for your insight.
  9. Drag and drop install..means to drag the subdirectory to the programs x86 directory, cross fingers and hope it works...it didn't so I used mbam-clean again before the successful reinstall of v2.04
  10. Posting logs...this is the same kind of rabbit hole I went down when the 32-bit impairment 1st developed...I learned from that experience not to waste time trying to fix the unfixable. I was able to install MBAM v2.04...the same version I had before trying to update to 2.18...It installed without a hitch...I used the 7/2/15 mbam2 rules to update it and it's happily scanning as I post this. I'll try to install an mbam update again in 6 months..maybe the runtime error problem will be fixed.
  11. I tried a drag and drop 'install' from another PC...of course that failed too...as expected.
  12. My laptop won't update 32bit apps due to an impairment but I've been running mbam v 2.04 with manual updates when available. Today I tried to update to version 2.18...after several runtime errors, I tried version 2.16...same problem. I did a search and fund a recommendation on the forum to use mbam-clean.exe to uninstall prior mbam version...then install the new version. I did so but still could not install the new version. I tried the install from safe mode..still get runtime errors. I don't have this problem installing other software on this PC. At this point I have no mbam installed...would have been better off staying with version 2.04, although at this point that might not reinstall. If it does, I'll update this post. Any suggestions?
  13. I've got same problem..Current v 2.04.1028 works ok...I'll be traveling for awhile and don't want to mess with MBAM till I get back..then I'll try the remove and Install process. I have 64bit Win7 [because of a problem with 32bit internet access on this, I have download and install the definitions manually] I post this to let you know other users have "'Runtime error (at97:109) could not call proc." problem. I'll post an update when I finally do the remove/install.
  14. mbam2-rules the offline installer for what many call signatures or definitions Available at http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbam_rulesis currently dated 2/2/15. While it may be unrealistic to expect this to be updated daily, weekly or bi-weekly would be nice. Thank you.
  15. Thanks for the rules link...currently 3 weeks out of date but better than waiting for a new release.
  16. Methinks I have a solution to my problem...and yours if you find this post while looking for manual updates to download: My problem was that I couldn't update MBAM due to an impairment on a laptop....this could be generalized as an impairment on any PC so it can't download updates...caused by...oh, say, malware. My solution was to download and install on a USB drive, the portable version of MBAM I got it here http://portablexapps.blogspot.com/2012/08/malwarebytes-anti-malware-portable.html I installed portable MBAM on the USB on an unimpaired PC, updated it with the latest signatures. Then I removed the USB and plugged it into the impaired PC where it is now scanning with the latest update in place. This portable solution offers the added advantage that the USB based MBAM can be used on any other PC after a quick update. MrToad
  17. Because my laptop doesn't do 32bit browsers and anti-malware I need current definition files I can download manually to keep malwarebytes current. The most recent I have is 3/15...way out of date...a week or so is fine...even once a month would be better...really, how hard is that? I'm sure many have infected or impaired systems that would benefit from such an option. Other solutions that would help my situation would be a 64bit mbam or a way to copy uptodate definition files from an updated MBAM to another across the network. Thanks for considering my suggestion

  19. Due to a vexing connection problem with my Win7 laptop, 32-bit browsers and apps like MalwareBytes can't connect to the net so MB can't update[Err msg, "Unable to access update server"]...strangely SuperAntispyware 32bit can update and 64bit browsers can surf the web Anyway, Is there away to transfer updates from one win7 PC to another accross my home network. I can transfer files back and forth..I just need to know which file to transfer and if there are features of MB that would prevent this..I have MB 2.01.1004..database is v2014.2.04.09 Alternatively...is there a source to uptodate manual definition database updates. I could download ..MajorGeeks offers updates but they're over a month old..I'd like a database source not over a week old. Thanks
