The New version from Norton was released two day´s ago.

Version 24.X from Norton = Avast.

Many people in the norton forum don´t get it ... it does not only look different, it is different. It is Avast.

The same Programm version/build, the same Virus definitions version, same Number of definitions.

Right now, I use Malwarebytes in the Free Version - just in case.

I had to allow Malwarebytes in Norton to run a scan.

I am not sure, what will happen, if I use the new Norton and Malwarebytes Premium, just read, they don´t get along very well, because of the Web Protection Avast uses.

Now Web Protection is deeply integrated into Norton.

It´s the same with AVG... different name, different look, but inside = Avast.

  2. open Malwarebytes,

    click on "Scanner"

    and "Schedule a scan"

(you might have to restart your computer first)

for some reason this screen is not that sharp than anything else...

The big "icons" and whats inside them, seem a little blurry.

You can also switch to german, this looks a little bit more blurry.

    ## v8.4.1 [29/01/2024]

    ### Changes

    * Update bundled definitions to 2024.01.29.1

According to the log file, AdwCleaner uses very old cloud data.

    # -------------------------------
    # Malwarebytes AdwCleaner 8.4.1.0
    # -------------------------------
    # Build:    01-29-2024
    # Database: 2023-07-19.3 (Cloud)
    # Support:  https://www.malwarebytes.com/support
    #
    # -------------------------------
    # Mode: Scan
    # -------------------------------
    # Start:    01-30-2024
    # Duration: 00:00:03
    # OS:       Windows 10 (Build 19045.3930)
    # Scanned:  32099
    # Detected: 0

    Something else,

the duration time for a scan is different, in the log above it says 3 seconds,

but on screen it says 5 seconds

    (just a cosmetic bug)

  4. Hi Malwarebytes Team,

I wish you all a good start in 2024!

My last Windows installation was this year and I only use Windows Defender and/or Malwarebytes.

Some days ago I decided to have Malwarebytes as my only Antivirus, those are my settings:

    grafik.png.13274bf6015a75d2642efe3b923c6795.png

Once I restart my computer, I takes about 2 Minutes for Defender, to realize, that Malwarebytes is there and working.

Defender will start and give me some feedback that I don´t have an Antivirus, before Malwarebytes kicks in (after 2 minutes).

I have never seen this behavior before, that it takes such a long time, for windows to realize, that there is another Antivirus.

    Maybe my installtion went wrong?

    This is my Autostart:

it´s almost nothing... my computer is doing "nothing" after the restart...

I'm happy that you found it.

It was not myself, who found it.

I was searching for it the "whole" night - nothing (doing a scan, over and over again)

One of my friends came over for lunch and we were trying again and again. Just before giving up on it (2 hours later) ... "there is just one more thing you could try".

We created a bug for this and will be working on it. Thanks!

-> you could also exclude manual updates from "Play mode"...

Is there a Malwarebytes logic, that covers the following scenario?

    - A user has added Firefox (steaming), VLC and Excel to Play mode.

    - Because the user is working from home, the computer never get´s in too sleep mode, never get´s turned off and

Firefox are open for 24 hours, same with VLC and Excel.

-> When will Malwarebytes warn the user, that updates are too old?

-> How long will it take, before Malwarebytes ever updates itself?

-> Is there a Malwarebytes logic, that tell´s the user, that the program is not able to update, because of items using Play mode?
