Sorry Swandog, but I did the reg hack and it did nothing...
Just to be sure, did you reboot after the registry tweak?
Regards,
Fran

Tried the registry tweak and rebooted.
Then tried the DB update emulator Douug provided me a few times and the memory consumption was going back to what it was before!
I then deleted the registry key that was in the Exclusions, and memory went up about 2MB.
I then rebooted and checked the memory which was at about 38MB.
Left work for work.
I'll check the memory again when I'm back home tonight.
-
When I left for work this morning, MBAM was at about 70MB, and when I went back tonight it was at almost 100MB.
There was no update in the meantime.

Thanks.
A shot in the dark: can it be related to some Windows service?
Therefore, can you tell us on which services MBAM relies on?
Maybe some of these services are disabled on our machines. (for security reasons)
Also, does it rely on some local and/or distant ports related to TCP/IP? (being blocked by a firewall and/or router)
-
Seems to me the memory increases are related to something other than the update procedure, but again I'm speculating without knowing if there's something else going on behind the scenes.
+1
I think they're focusing on that because it was the main issue when they released 1.43. (an update bug in 1.42)
I don't think it's update-related either.
Something occurs which raises the memory usage, but it's not fully released thereafter.
It may shown up in the update process, but the problem is somewhere else methinks.

Disabling IP Protection and/or Real-Time Protection didn't help here.
Also got 3494 database and am following the memory closely.
-
May I then suggest that MBAM 1.42 is put back as the current release while 1.43 gets fixed.
I also suggest the 1.44RC be available as a *beta for those who want to test it* before it's officially released.
Thanks!

1.43 user here.
Had this problem a few times yesterday, but the update finally succeeded, albeit with a very slow download speed. (maybe a server overload?)

Hello everyone
For each of you having this issue please do the following to see if it resolves it and let me know the results:
- Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Reboot your computer (this is critical)
- Navigate to C:\Program Files and look for a folder called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- If the folder Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware still exists DELETE IT
- Restart your computer again
- Reinstall Malwarebytes' and test to see if you're still encountering the problem
Please let me know if this works or not. If it doesn't then please email the helpdesk at support@malwarebytes.org and they will assist you with further troubleshooting and corrective measures to fix the issue.
Thanks
Did that before. (see post http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...t&p=178677)
I did send an email to support a few days ago, but the person at the other end sent me here...
Thanks again,
Fran

Still same problem after adding the exclusions in the AV.
For those wondering about my software choices, I even removed PrivateFirewall 7 and re-enabled XP's FW, and disabled the AV completely, and still have the same problem with MBAM's service memory consumption.
The problem gets worse after an update.

Excellent, it appears to have stabilized nicely . There will be minor variances when an update is performed due to differing sizes in the database, but it should never escalate the way it had previously, basically doubling in size after each update.
Thanks for testing and thanks for keeping me informed .
Still eating too much memory here.
I did the uninstall/reboot/mbam-clean/reboot/reinstall (1.43) and did several updates since yesterday.
Mbamservice is eating about 80MB of RAM and about 90MB of Virtual Memory right now.
IP Protection is ON, as well as real-time protection.
AV: Avira premium 9 with only the guard active.
FW: PrivateFirewall 7
Windows XP Pro SP3 running on an old P3-1000 with 512MB RAM.
Thanks in advance!
