  1. And let me add that the reason why I purchased MBAM was due to the fact that I had used the free version for awhile and found that it saved several of my computers from serious infections. After using the free version I felt that I should purchase the premium version since the free version of MBAM had saved me from numerous computer infections. It just made good sense to me.
  2. I purchased all of my copies of Malwarebytes from an authorized reseller many, many years ago. I bought the Malwarebytes retail boxes with CD's from Circuit City when they still had retail brick and mortar stores. I no longer have the receipts for those purchases. All of my MBAM versions are "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro" and have an activation code that includes an ID code and a Key code. I will be disappointed if the new policy invalidates my licenses.
  3. Equifax created the problem with their sloppy security. The solution to the problem is not for millions of people to have to freeze their credit. It's the responsibility of Equifax to find a solution and implement it without burdening innocent people. My only action will be to sue Equifax if my credit is compromised.
  4. The only solution I have found is to create exclusions for the following IP's: 13.32.188.85 54.239.172.84 52.84.74.8 All of these IP's are registered to Amazon.com.
  5. Not at all true. MBAM gives you several options concerning PUPs. You can use the recommended setting or if you prefer to allow malware onto your computer you may also set MBAM so that PUPs are ignored or have MBAM give you a warning. You are in control of your computer, and MBAM gives you a variety of options. It defaults to the recommended setting because the overwhelming majority of users prefer not to have PUPs unscrupulously and without their knowledge downloaded to their computers in the background.
  6. Registry cleaners cause much more harm than good and should not be used. Therefore, it is a PUP.
  7. I thought that was the case but I wanted to hear your thoughts on the matter. I agree, better safe than sorry! Thank you Porthos.
  8. For the overwhelming majority of users the current version of MBAM works great. Some users have underlying problems within their computers and those problems need to be addressed. It would be in your best interest to supply the logs as requested so that one of the experts can help you sort things out to get your computer back into good shape.
  9. Porthos, I've added the exclusions to both Defender and MBAM per your recommendation. However, I've been running both MBAM and Defender for years without the exclusions and encountered no problems. What is the advantage of including the exclusions in each program? And thank you for the topic.
  10. Looks as if Avast installed itself: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/608712/avast-safezone-browser-unwanted-install/
  11. Unfortunately PC Matic is not a trusted application in that they supply and advocate the use of a registry cleaner. Cleaning the registry is not necessary and can potentially damage your OS. Therefore their software review ranks high on the bogosity meter.
  12. Yes. I just downloaded the newest version 3.0.6.1469-10103 and it no longer disables Windows Defender with the Windows Action setting back to the default setting.
  13. I think the real question is, why use any software made by IObit? Their software has no value, it's loaded with PUP's and some of it is potentially dangerous to your system as mentioned in several different independent reviews. Google "IObit safety" for details.
  14. I would advise you to remove Advanced SystemCare as well as any other programs made by IObit: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/572589/what-think-about-advanced-system-care-good-or-not-good/?p=3675256
  15. Beware. The bottom line is that all of the IObit programs come bundled with a variety of PUP's. Such software is to be avoided. Once you install such software on your computer, it will take a lot of work to remove all the "extra stuff". https://davescomputertips.com/beware-iobit-malware-fighter/ It should be noted that IObit has a long history of such behavior.
  16. I would add one thing. After you deactivate the license, Malwarebytes is still running in the "free" mode. Therefore it is best to "Quit Malwarebytes" from the task bar before you uninstall. Otherwise the uninstall can hang and you might leave a few items still installed.
  17. I think the use of the term "awesome" is appropriate. It relates to you the level of malware protection the product provides in that it is "excellent or extremely good". It says, "Awesome! You're protected.", if indeed everything checks out OK. And let's not forget the big green check mark!
  18. They've got to make the product appeal to the Millennials.
  19. iObit Advanced System Care is a registry cleaner and a PC optimizer. Such programs can do significant damage to your computer registry. Unless you have a specific problem that requires editing the registry, it's better to leave the registry alone. iOBit has a long history of including various malware along with their "free" programs. I recommend that you remove any and all iOBit programs from your computer and scan with malwarebytes to clean up the PUP's. If your computer was "messed up" the first culprit on the list is iOBit.
  20. "The greatest danger to your computer lies between the left ear and the right ear of the user ...." Practice safe computing ... think first! The premium version of Malwarebytes will make your computer much safer. Norton has its share of fans but I am not among them.
  21. Since you're running Windows 10, I would uninstall Norton and use Windows Defender along with Malwarebytes 3.0.
  22. I'm running Windows 10 x64 desktop with the new BETA version and I've experienced the same behavior and can confirm your observation.
  23. Version 3.0.6 has the same problem in Windows 10. I have found two solutions. Go to the task bar and Quit Malwarebytes, then restart the program. If that doesn't work then reboot the computer. Malwarebytes seems to hang on some GUI content.
  24. My Windows 10 sometimes does the same. Malwarebytes 3.06 seems to hang once in awhile and does not fully load and the protection layers remain turned off. Have you tried to reboot the computer? Rebooting works for me.
