  1. I realize this has nothing to to with Malwarebytes, but I thought someone might be able to clarify something. I hear that Verizon phones receive advertisements from given Verizon shops when the phone is near or inside a shop. My Verizon phone made a strange sound when I approached a Verizon shop. I had bluetooth turned off, cell service turned off but wifi turned on. On "wifi settings" I didn't notice anything connecting to my phone. All available wifi required password. I am convinced that there is something in my Verizon phone that causes it to stealthly communicate when near a Verizon shop. When I got this phone (used LG android 5.1.1) the camera didn't work. If I tried to use the camera, it would say "camera error, unfortunately camera has stopped". I tried force stopping and clearing all the caches, and even doing a master phone reset, with no success to get the camera working. But if I go near or into a Verizon shop for a few minutes and then reboot the phone, the camera will work again, usually for a few days, or weeks or even months, and then I get camera error again, and then I go near or into a Verizon shop (can be after business hours) to again get the camera working. I can't do any updates on this phone because it is too old, says "no updates available". The Verizon shop clerks know nothing about why this camera situation happens, so this is why I am asking here.
  2. Thanks for the reply. I did find a workaround to solve the problem. (I long ago already uninstalled/disabled anything anything resembling "news" or other apps that I thought that could be causing a problem. What I did is try to uninstall Google Chrome. There wasn't that option; I could only "force stop" or disable. So I disabled Google Chrome. The browser icon disappeared from the home screen and stay gone even after rebooting the phone several times. It has been over a week and I am not getting any more popup adware. I use Firefox browser which is just fine. For further info that I am curious about, I have attached a video: https://files.videohelp.com/u/61125/apps.mp4 that shows all the apps on the phone (including the disabled ones which are marked as such). Could you take a look at them and see if there are others I should disable? Also, if I download another Google Chrome apk and install it, would that install a separate Chrome browser that wouldn't have the adware, or (1) would I get a error that Chrome is already installed, or (2) would the adware be shared from the existing disabled chrome? The Chrome already on the phone (according to app page) is version 92.0.4515.131
  3. These are Government phones issued by Assurance. I've seen other reports on Malwarebytes forum about this. I'm not that technical, so I'm not going to try to follow the instructions on how to deal with this problem. I can put up with the occasional ad pop-up. In this case, it always the website "myhypermedia". I can just close it out at get on with using the phone. I'm writing this just to report the issue. I had read on forum that Blu phones also had this problem (Blu phones are $30 phones commonly available at Walmart to be used with Tracfone cell service.)
  4. I am on Windows 7 netbook with 2GB memory. I am using Malwarebytes free 2.2.1.1043, build date 3/10/2016. When I start Malwarebytes I am connected to the internet so I get the latest antivirus data. (Though prompted, I am not willing to update to the latest version of Malwarebytes; that is my choice.) It takes about 25 minutes to complete the scan. I recently downloaded and installed the latest Malwarebytes (free trial, plan to revert to free, later) on a Windows 10 computer (originally Windows 7 and updated to Windows 10) with 8 GB of memory. When I run Malwarebytes, it takes about 27 seconds to complete the scan. My question is, why does it take 25 minutes to complete the scan on one computer, and 27 seconds on the other computer?
  5. Ok, I used ver 1.75.0.1300 ( one year old) and did a scan (choose to not update) and there were zero infections. Then I restarted ver 1.75.0.1300 and chose to update. Thank goodness, the update still had the original malwarebytes interface. There is somebody else who is trying to copy your product, but one look at it and you can see that it is bogus. I attached a picture of the update (Current database information: date 4/16/2014, database version v2014.04.16.04 fingerprints loaded 294241) Everything looks ok. I closed out the updated version, and then restarted it, and it went directly to the old scan interface ( no update request) , so I know I have the latest version.
  6. I am looking for an old malwarebytes that I can use just before the takeover. The version I had updated to a new company. This version does not work on my xp computer. When trying to scan, it sat for 15 minutes on the prescan and never moved. ( Previous version would complete in 10 minutes and always work flawlessly.) I closed out the window and tried to re-start malwarebytes but it wouldn't start. I noticed mbam was running in th task manager but I could not stop the process with the task manager. I had to turn off the comptuer to stop the process. I managed to uninstall the program and reinstalled version 1.75.0.1300 which is one year out of date but runs fine. Is it possible that someone could send me the last version just before the takeover. I will be sure not to update. I guess that would be about 2 months old. I'm not interested in the new malwarebytes company, and I don't think you should use the same name for the product that is currently available.
