  1. I have had great success on here before, and now am doing the same thing with my partner's laptop, as it has been acting very funnily lately (very slow processing times, and DVD's no longer play). I've installed Malwarebytes free version, and it did quarantine one file. Also, just FYI, the battery on this laptop is on its last legs - we are waiting for a new one to be delivered. Here are the FRST logs (they will not paste so I'm attaching). Thank you so much! Krista Addition.txt FRST_18-04-2014_13-01-29.txt
  2. I just installed new version (2014.03.24.09) of Malwarebytes. Thanks for your answer about the 2 different types of software - I didn't know there was a difference.
  3. You say on your PM page: Note: Please only install one anti-virus program, one firewall and one anti-malware program that provides real-time protection. I have Bitdefender Total Security 2013 installed and running on my Windows 7 64-bit laptop. I also now have Malwarebytes after you worked with me, and I assume it's running in the background even though it checks with me every time I double click it, as though it's being installed. What would you recommend? I've paid for both Bitdefender and Malwarebytes but am unsure of their strengths/weaknesses, and where they overlap.
  4. I posted a comment on your profile feed. I am going through PM instructions, and the link for how to remove old system restore points has instructions that don't seem to match what my computer is doing. The dialog box is different. Is it different for Window 7 than XP?
  5. I wholeheartedly agree with the other commenters on here, who say you helped them with skill, speed, patience, thoroughness, clarity, and a complete absence of condescension. Well worth a larger donation that I can afford right now, that's for sure. You rock my world! I am very grateful. Thank you. :)

  6. I tried to run combofix /uninstall but it said it couldn't find combofix. Do I just continue on with your directions?

  12. 1. I just purchased and activated PRO. 2. Do you still want a tip via paypal? Or is buying PRO good enough to show my appreciation? I'm serious. 3. File Type Assistant - I honestly don't remember or know for sure if I downloaded it consciously. I may have. Yes, it's highly possible I did. In any case, I uninstalled it now. Do you think it caused the problem in the first place? 4. I will follow the rest of your instructions now. 5. THANK YOU.
  13. Ok I copy pasted the report but here I will attach it. Thank you for answering my question about system restore, I'm on it. RKreport0_S_03232014_141206.txt
