  3. I'm not sure if I did this right, I went into Tools/Internet Options/clicked on the connections tab / LAN setting/ and unchecked the box under proxy server. Tried to update and still get another error code 732. I'm going to try to relaunch IE and try it again. Nope, still get error code 732
  4. I hope I've posted in the right place. I've had mbam (free version 1.40) already on my computer. My problem is I cannot get it to update, I keep getting an error code 732. I've installed, uninstalled, ran the clean up tool several times, still error code 732. I completely uninstalled my anti-virus software because I thought that was causing the conflict. Here are the logs, hope you can find the problem: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.40 Database version: 2551 Windows 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 8/29/2009 9:50:23 AM mbam-log-2009-08-29 (09-50-23).txt Scan type: Quick Scan Objects scanned: 78762 Time elapsed: 2 minute(s), 25 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected) Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 9:52:35 AM, on 8/29/2009 Platform: Windows Vista SP2 (WinNT 6.00.1906) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6002.18005) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\Windows\system32\Dwm.exe C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe C:\Program Files\Motorola\SMSERIAL\sm56hlpr.exe C:\Acer\Empowering Technology\SysMonitor.exe C:\Acer\Empowering Technology\eDataSecurity\eDSloader.exe C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Matrix Storage Manager\IAAnotif.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nikon\Monitor\NkMonitor.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\IntelDH\NMS\Support\IntelHCTAgent.exe C:\Program Files\Nova Development\Greeting Card Factory Deluxe 6.0\ReminderApp.exe C:\Windows\RtHDVCpl.exe C:\Windows\ehome\ehtray.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WkDetect.exe C:\Program Files\NetZero\exec.exe C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\YahooMessenger.exe C:\Windows\ehome\ehmsas.exe C:\Program Files\Creative Home\Hallmark Card Studio 2008 Deluxe\Planner\PLNRnote.exe C:\Program Files\FinePixViewerS\QuickDCF2.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared\wkcalrem.exe C:\Program Files\Nova Development\Photo Explosion\CalCheck.exe C:\Windows\system32\taskeng.exe C:\Acer\Empowering Technology\ACER.EMPOWERING.FRAMEWORK.SUPERVISOR.EXE C:\Program Files\NetZero\exec.exe C:\Program Files\NetZero\qsacc\x1exec.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEUser.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Windows\system32\SearchFilterHost.exe C:\Users\Owner\Documents\HiJackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://my.netzero.net/s/search?r=minisearch R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://my.netzero.net/s/search?r=minisearch R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://my.netzero.net/s/search?r=minisearch R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:7900 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = searchap.untd.com;127.0.0.1;localhost;*microsoft.com;*windowsupdate.com;*wustat. windows.com;*test-speed.com;liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com;*symantec.com;*.nai.com;*.networkass ociates.com;cf.netzero.net;qs.netzero.net;*.quicken.com;*.pogo.com;*.mail.yahoo. c om;*.aolcdn.com;*.yimg.com;<local> R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = R3 - URLSearchHook: URLSearchHook Class - {37D2CDBF-2AF4-44AA-8113-BD0D2DA3C2B8} - C:\Program Files\NetZero\SearchEnh1.dll O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost O2 - BHO: &Yahoo!   5. I did as you requested. typed in the Y and clicked enter. I then tried to update, still get error code 732. I rebooted and just tried again, still get error code 732. I'm on-line, if I wasn't I couldn't post here because I wouldn't be connected to the internet. I even uninstalled ran the clean up tool and downloaded it again, tried to update and get error code 732. . I've never run into anything like this before. I even shut down the windows firewall and tried, still error code 732

  7. I've got to be the world's biggest nimrod, I did what you said, but couldn't find where it says if it's in offline mode. Which tab is it under, and which setting do I change? I went to the advanced one and and under the http 1.1 setting there is a check mark next to the use proxy connection. I unchecked it and restarted IE. I then tried to update mbam but still get error code 732. I also added malwarebytes.org to the trusted sites, still 732???
  8. Greetings exile 360 I did what # 8 said, I got a black box that says "Value GlobalUserOffline exists, overwrite (yes/No)?" Not sure what that means??? How do I check to see what the settings for IE are?
  9. prairie dog I did all of the above, in exactly the order instructed. Still get error code 732 My firewall is set to allow it through, and I'm still not running any anti-virus program. I want to get this straightened out first. Any other suggestions?
  10. I have spent the past month getting my Vista updated. It now has SP1 ans SP2. According to to Microsoft it's all up to date. I still cannot update my mbam. I had to uninstall mbam to install the service packs. I just reinstall the 1.39 version of mbam, but I still can't get it to update. I have my firewall set to allow it through, but it's not doing it I guess, why else would I get the 732 error code???
  11. Yes, should I uninstall the MBAM I have and download it again?? One of the moderators at the McAfee forum says my whole system is corrupt and I should "wwipe the drive and reinstall it". That's their solution. He also suggested I have someone analyze the hijackthis logs.
  12. Gt500 I ran avenger and did what you said. I also downloaded MBAM again and tried to update, still getting code 732. I did run MBAM and the only file it said was rogue was avenger, so I had it delete it thinking that might help, just tried to update and still code 732. Here is a new "hijackthis" log. When I went to open that I got a message saying my system was denying write access to the host file and hijackthis may not be able to fix it? I ran it again in administrator mode, hope it shows something? hijackthis_log_for_7_27.txt hijackthis_log_for_7_27.txt
  13. GT500 Finally got it to download, I downloaded and ran both. I have attached the logshijackthis_log.txtlog.txt All of this stuff is totally alien to me, hope you can make heads or tails of it, and figure out what is blocking it. I really appreciate your help!!!! hijackthis_log.txt log.txt
  14. This link seems to be down temporarily, I've tried several times to download it and it has failed each time. Will keep trying, unless you know of another option?
  15. Yardbird I copied and pasted the line in the "RUN" and clicked ok. A window popped up and was for C\windows\system32\REG.exe The black box says Value GlobalUser Offline exists, overwrite (yes/No)? I don't have any anti-virus program installed right now so that's not the problem and I have set Windows firewall to allow the 5 things you listed earlier. I even reinstalled MAMB. Nothing changes it??????
  16. Maniac; I went to the ESET forum and got a solution for getting it off. Now back to my original problem. I thought ESET might be causing the problem since MABM worked ok before I installed it. So much for that theory. I uninstalled it using the start menu. I ran a search and deleted all the MAMB stuff. I then rebooted then reinstalled MBAM, tried to update it and still get ERROR CODE 732. I'm using my windows firewall for the time being. I added all of the 5 things listed earlier in this post to things to allow past the firewall. I really like this program, it's one of the few that actually does what it said it would, and that was root out malware from all of it's hiding places. It found a couple all the others missed. It's not much good if I can't update it though. What's the trick to fix this problem????
  17. Maniac I uninstalled the NOD32 following the directions in the ESET knowledge base. I did a complete search to make sure everything ESET was removed, even in hidden files and folders. I rebooted.. I should have gotten a big red notification from Windows telling me I needed to install an AV. It didn't so I went to the control panel and looked at my protection status. It says ESET is STILL protecting my computer How the heck can that be???? When I tried to update my MBAM I still get an error code 732. NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE???????
  18. Even though ESET NOD32 doesn't have a firewall, I added the above to the exclusion list to the AV section. I still get error code 732 when I try to update MBAM. I still have 11 days left on the NOD32 trial, will they let me download the smart security even after I uninstall the NOD32, or do I have to wait for the trial period to end before I uninstall????
  19. Yardbird; I have the latest removal tool from McAfee's website. I've had to use it so many times I put it in a Documents folder. It must get used a lot because they keep updating it. I ran it before installing ESET. The removal tool you sent me is for 2005, 2006 and 2007 verions. The one I have is for the 2009 version. I upgraded to 1.39, just tried to update it and still get the 732 error code. As to all of this: files you need your AV/Firewall for mbam to trust C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref (Windows 2000/XP) Is this all stuff I will need to add to exceptions if I download ESET smart security??? The PITA part of this is I don't have a problem when I use McAfee. Since my subscription is good until the end of October I think I'll go back and tuff it out with them. At least then my MBAM will work
  20. Sorry folks haven't checked my mail in a couple of days. GT500: No, ESET came recommended by Vista along with several others. Yardbird; No, I have not upgraded to 1.39 yet, will as soon as Windows gets down updating. I read that link you gave me but it's not MBAM that froze up, the McAfee Real Time Scan would freeze in "pause mode" and there wasn't any way to correct it. I spent days working with their Techs trying. Unfortunately they didn't know why either, all they kept telling me was I was getting a bad DAT file. They suggested I set my updates to manual. I did, but their updates come packaged, meaning you don't get to pick and choose what to install and what not to. The minute I started to update manually, it downloaded the bad DAT file again. I'll let you know if upgrading to 1.39 fixes the problem.
  21. I currently have a subscription to McAfee Anti-virus Plus. The problem with them is every month they send out an update to the Security Center that freezes the Real Time Scan. That in turn shuts down my ability to update the virus definitions. As a result, once a month I would end up uninstalling it and downloading it all over again. With a 56K that takes about 6 and 1/2 hours. That's a PITA. MBAM keeps my computer clean of the malware they miss. I gave Zone Alarm a try too, didn't like that and even had a hard time uninstalling it. I'm going to keep looking until I find one with a firewall that's not a PITA. Question; When you get to download a free trial of something, shouldn't you be able to download the actual one you intend to buy? I thought I was downloading ESET Smart Security, but the NOD32 is what I ended up with. I want to see what it is I'm actually going to be getting for my money. Not all virus programs are equal, same goes with firewalls. When I started years ago I had Norton. Can't begin to tell you how much crap got past their firewall.
  22. I have done a search for something that applies. I read through several, not sure what will work in my case. I'm running Vista Home Premium, Malwarebytes version 1.38. I am using the trial version of ESET NOD32 Anti-virus version 4. Until I installed that I wasn't having any issues. According to the download from ESET this is supposed to have a firewall. I've gone through all the tools advanced and other wise but don't see one. When I check Windows to see what firewall IS running, it say Windows is "ON". I set that to allow MBAM through. Something is still blocking it I guess?? Along with the code 732, ESET says it's won't update either due to a general compiler error, what is that? How do I find what is blocking the updates? I'm about to dump ESET and go back to McAfee which also gave me nothing but grief. Once I get this thing working again, can you recommend a good Anti-virus program that includes a good firewall that is compatible with MBAM???
