  1. Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the delay. It will be looked into.
  2. Thank you for contacting us on this issue. This will be looked into and you will be updated before too long.
  3. Thank you for contacting us on this issue. As you may/may not already be aware, a file sharing site does not necessarily get blocked just because of malware. Other reasons include the spreading of cracks, keygens and illegal copyright software (warez and pirate music/films). The site/IP will be looked into.
  4. Thank you for your notification. It will be looked into.
  5. LOL that was funny. I remember this and a few others, were our dream machines back then as the best I could afford that time was a dragon 32 which was out of this world.
  6. I work on the principle of, how secure will I be after I have removed the infections as often paranoia can set in especially when things just dont feel right afterwards. A computer is like a car engine and you get to know the tune, when this misses a beat, you soon notice very quickly. If its a minor infecrtion that is quickly removed I proceed as normal but when we are dealing with Rootkits and other major nasties, I prefer to simply remove them then totally reinstall my pc to square one. It may take about 10 hours but it helps to clean out all the junk and keeps my PC running at top performance. One reason I often backup my data as I dont suffer any inconvenience other than a few extra hours but have peace of mind afterwards.
  7. I know that here in the UK, manufacturers were giving the customers the option to have a new PC/laptop rolled back to XP rather than have Vista installed as many felt Vista was too problematic. Masy systems are still released with XP Sp3. Lets hope Windows 7 does a better job.
  8. You say it detected and took care of quite a few infections plus you are having issues with your home pages too. First impressions are that you suffered a browser hijacker amongst other things and I would say your best bet would be to follow this MBAM guide: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9573
  9. You took the words out of my mouth as was going to say very much the same thing. Regardless of the whats happened, it has obviously discredited them with a lot of people and they will have to carry the brunt of this for a long time. I am sure a valuable lesson was learnt and they can make it better following through with a public apology which will save them some face.
  10. Well I can't say I have heard of A-Squared but Malwarebytes has always been very prominent in my surfing and forum use, besides I trust it and believe I get excellent software for free. Now I see these people saying they are beginners! Well, that will really encourage me to try their software or even visit their site NOT. Keep up the great work guys, you have one very appreciative user here who knows which side his bread is buttered.

    Garding tips

Well I pant stuff (lost my sunflowers) and the damn slugs eat it We have used all sorts of measures from salt to slug pelletts but they are just keep coming back in endless numbers. I guess the only soloution is to stick with planting hardy stuff that is well established before planting in the garden. I do have a vine issue here and that is a swine to eradicate.
  12. ROFLMAO, that was pretty damn good
  13. Lol Telmerc, do i detect some jealousy there Yes Supernovasky, I agree that future games will be more intensive but then future Pc's will be better spec'd to handle them.
  14. Happy birthday and hope you have a great day.
  15. yeah, I see where you are going on this but I have played World of Warcraft online while running a full system scan and I suffered very little interruption. In fact most of the time I had to check the scan was finished even though it hadn't. I suppose this comes down to what vendor software is scanning but even with MBAM, I can do pretty much anything while it's on using my old P4 3.06 XP pc and the newer Vista quad core. I somehow can't believe that a quick scan is all that is needed as often a full scan finds spyware that was not picked up on a quick scan. Not doubting this is not the case for others, but not in my experiance. Im not implying that I know better but it doesn't make sense to me.
  16. Yeah I am not being pessimistic here but the bit that caught my eye was the mention that it overwrites the HD boot sectors making the drive irreparable. I realise that the chances of me (and other home users) catching something like this is probably very remote but just like the lottery, you never know when your luck may change. So far, I have had a few virus's (well handful) over the last few years (26 years) but nothing that I couldn't deal with, or gave me sleepless nights, as they were easily removed. I recall back in the old BBS dial-up days of virus's doing the same as this threat but back then it was probably just a scare tactic whereas today it's doesnt seem to be the case.
  17. Indeed, that crossed my mind too about it not being profitable for the bots to issue kill commands buy how many script kiddies dont follow this practice that can easilly get access to the malware and spread it about whilst having it under their control. Now that is worrying. Somehow I can see this becoming a problem in the future especially when a bot wishes to cover their tracks after facing prosecution so issues a kill command to destroy the botnet to give the authorities a harder time with seeing him go down.
  18. I see that there is a trojan about that is infecting PCs and will destroy the hard disks. Although its still fairly limited in the systems it has affected, it is a major concern all the same and it may very well be the start of a new trend by the criminals who take pleasure in our misery. What's your views on this?
  19. I did read earlier that renaming the MBAM.exe would help in an install. Have you tried this to see if it helps you to run it?
  20. I see what you are saying but surely this could cause extra problems having the scan run faster where files could be missed as they were not scanned fully! Wouldn't a pause button help in the situation when you are busy and need the resources at hand?
  21. They are both great but I agree with everyone esle that #2 is the best of the two.
  22. I use Firefox for all my main browsing as it has some really nice addons (Adblock Plus and BetterPrivacy) plus the way you can customise the look of the browser. Appart from the latest unpatched security issue, it's generally far more secure for my liking the IE8. I only use IE 8 to check for windows updates or do certain things on the MS site that only allows IE.
  23. Great, thank you, I will have a butchers now and point the Admin to areas that will improve our forum greatly.
  24. yes, I have noticed this on another forum I use too. I have been monitoring connected users for the last hour or so and picked up a few spammers with spam signature links, that had been missed. I see that although they dont actually post spams, they are using this method to get MSNBot Spider to point to their profiles and spam link, of all accounts that are still acivve on the system that have not had this info removed or been banned. I know the easy answer would be to just limit people signatures and just about everything else they can do BUT it wouldn't be a forum where people would bother then, would it.
