  1. FRST is gone. Ran OTL cleanup successfully. Ran Delfix successfully. Only items remaining on desktop are FRST-OlderVersion folder and ESET SCAN.txt file. I do have DelFix.txt on my c: yet. Should I delete? There was no C:\zoek_backup folder on my system as I don't recall downloading or running that tool.
  2. I wasn't able to find any good info online about the Google Chrome issue but found enough that it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the programs used to clean up my computer so I'll worry about it after everything is cleaned up. Please let me know the first steps when you can. Thank you,
  3. Everything seems to be working properly other than since running some of these programs I get a dialog/message box popup from Windows each time the system restarts telling me that Google Chrome stopped working. It tries to fix the problem but can't find a solution. After closing the box I can still run Google Chrome without an issue but wasn't sure if something in one of these programs changed something to cause this issue. Thanks
  4. Java is updated. Avast is enabled once again and UAC has also been enabled. The computer is restarting to finalize the change to UAC.
  5. Does it matter which browser I use to update Java? I have Chrome and IE.
  6. When I navigate to Programs and Features (Uninstall or change program) there is no program listed as Adobe Reader 8. The only Adobe Reader listed is Adobe Reader X. The other Adobe programs listed are Adobe AIR, Adobe Digital Editions, Adobe Flas Player 11 ActiveX, Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin, Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 and Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6. Side note, I have not updated Java yet from the same instructions above. Should I do that now or wait until we resolve the Adobe Reader issue?
  7. I opened my current version of Adobe Reader and it is Adobe Reader X (10.1.8). I don't recall where it was now, but at some point while trying to upgrade Adobe Reader through one of the two methods you have given me I read that to upgrade to version 11.0.05 you had to be coming from a more recent version that what I have. I downloaded the file from the new link you provided. After double clicking on the file a dialog box titled Windows Installer appears that says, "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch." Should I try updating Adobe Reader from within the program itself or do you have another way I should try?
  8. delfile.bat worked properly. I followed your instructions to install/update Adobe Reader. At about 96% installed a dialog box appeared titled Adobe Reader 9.5.0. The message said, "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate." There is only one button to click, an OK button, which I have not done yet. Waiting for your response in case there is some way around it.
  9. I then ran Security Check. Below is the log. Results of screen317's Security Check version 0.99.78 Windows Vista Service Pack 2 x86 (UAC is disabled!) 11. Are there any next steps that I should take to make sure all is well or should I be set? Should I uninstall any of the programs we worked with?
