  1. Ok I'll turn off fast startup but generally speaking I keep my computers on 24/7 and only reboot when there are updates to install and only turn it off when I take it apart to dust it out every 3-6 months. I use it all the time for work.
  2. Ok here it is but fyi as soon as I started running the Malwarebytes Support Tool all the "M"'s disappeared from my desktop icons so I'm really unsure what exactly caused that; also sorry running Windows 10 2004 Build 19041.867. mbst-grab-results.zip
  3. I'm sorry if this is a silly question but it's really bugging me, starting in the last few days all my desktop icons have a Malwarebytes "M" on them and I really can't stand it so how can I remove that from my icons? I'm using Malwarebytes free 4.3.0.98 and I've looked under every option under settings and can't find any way to turn this off?
  4. Thanks, but at this point I'm finding way too many things that don't work so I'm going to call it a day and backup the data and wipe and reinstall Windows rather than spend days trying to unravel and repair the existing installation.
  5. I've got a system running Windows XP Home that was infected with some kind of virus / malware which I removed by taking the hard drive out and attaching it by usb adapter to another computer running the latest Eset Smart Secuirty 7.0.x and scanning with an indepth scan and letting it clean / delete all infected files. I also ran a number of other utilities such as TDSKiller and ComboFix. After that I tried to run Malwarebytes and I keep getting the message System Error 8007007F Automation Error. I've googled on this problem and found a number of threads regarding it and I've tried all the suggested fixes: Used regsvr32 to reregister mbamext.dll, ssubtmr6.dll, vbalsgrid6.ocx Installed subinacl and ran the Microsoft registry permissions reset script: cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f subinacl /subdirectories %windir%\*.* /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f C:\Windows\system32\secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose Performed a repair install of the operating system. Reinstalled Malwarebytes and I still have the exact same problem, is there any addition information on how to repair this problem that I haven't tried? - Norm
