  1. So, my problem started a week ago where I got a piece of what I thought was malware. I unhooked my ethernet and ran scans, didn't detect anything. I ran a system restore and thought that solved the problem... until today. I could not log on to my computer even in safe mode. Unhooked ethernet again. I also tried a bootable flash drive with Windows Defender Offline and since that booted the OS, it would not run a full scan. The virus was counteracting everything I tried. All this has led me to believe that it is a root-kit. Is there any way to remove it using an external independently bootable anti-virus program or anything else? When I turn on the computer, it tries to log on to my user tile whenever I start the OS. I run a Win7x64. Note: I happen to have 2 bootable OS's on differnt hard drives and tried both (My new one and my old one) but the virus had infected both OS's.
