    Cookie Theft

Does Browser Guard protect against cookie theft?
  2. Thanks for your help Porthos. After unregistering Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center, are both Malwarebytes and Defender protecting against malware?
  3. Done. I have turned off "Always register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center" I have also applied this to my other Malwarebytes 5.1 protected Windows 10 system. Windows Security One Drive access is not enabled.
  4. Your requested copy of mbst-grab-results.zip is attached. Your instructions were followed, including the disabling of 'Fast Startup'. This has since been re-enabled. mbst-grab-results.zip
  5. Malwarebytes 5.1 occasionally stops working, the MB icon vanishes from the bar at the bottom of the display screen and Windows Security shows a red mark in the system tray. After a short time, Malwarebytes will restart without user intervention.and the MB icon reappears while Windows Security once again shows a green mark. I am running Windows 10 Pro 22H2. Is there a diagnostic reporting tool I can run and, if so, where do I find it?
  6. I see that Open Office starter program (soffice.exe) is on the list of Protected applications but the component programs (e.g. swriter.exe) are not. Does this matter? If a Open Office component program is started independently of soffice.exe, is it protected? Also, is email client Thunderbird protected? Is there protection against maliciuous attachments? MBAE enables this to be specifically protected.
  7. Issue fixed? I have just observed MBAE 1.13.568 being automatically updated to 1.13.585.
  8. It's called enlightened self-interest. This software is much valued.
  9. I guess that no one can update MBAE from version 1.13 Build 568 except by performing the update manually. Many users will be unaware of the new version being available. Does this mean the end of MBAE Free?
  10. Anti-Exploit 1.13 Build 568 is not being automatically updated to Build 585. It can be updated by using the appropriate downloaded installation excutable. The Automatically upgrade to new versions setting is enabled.
  11. I have read (cannot remember where) that it is recommended that any Optional cumulative update preview, now or in the future, is not to be installed.
  12. I cannot give any details because this happened to two separate non-tech users who were unable to supply me with televant information. They are located 60+ miles away from me. The process is run from a .bat file and the user is requested to permit it to run with administrator privileges. The .bat file contains the following two lines: - sfc /scannow cmd /k The system file check runs to 100% completion but MBAE then steps in and interrupts the process. System file check is prevented from presenting the results of the check. I gave the affected users this .bat file procedure to simplify doing a system file check. That is a much as I can tell you. It hasn't happened to me. When I do this, I type 'sfc /scannow' into the command window.
  13. I use a 2007 Toshiba Satellite Pro P200 (1.8GHz Intel Core Duo, 4GB RAM, SSD) which has a lovely display screen. Windows 10 Pro lately seems to need more processor power and my only option to mitiigate this has been to uninstall MBARW and rely on Windows Defender. Fortunately MBAE is very light on resources. MBARW overheads are unnoticeable on more recent hardware. This is not a complaint, just for information. I assume that MBARW is behaviour based. Am I correct? I would not allow a Windows PC/laptop to operate without it, except with very good reason.
  14. Thanks Arthi. Glad to see that MBAE has been in the Malwarebytes workshops.
  15. This 'permission' procedure has the effect of discriminating against non-tech users of Firefox. Will they question the orange spot on the control to open the application menu? If they don't, they will be deprived of possibly important new security benefits of using Browser Guard.
  16. Thanks for that Porthos. That's OK as long as Brower Guard protection is uninterrupted. I'm still curious about the difference in this context between Firefox and Google Chrome.
  17. I do not use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but I do use Avast together with Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware. Does the lack of permission actually prevent Browser Guard from working within Firefox? Why only with Firefox but not with Google Chrome?
  18. I use Avast. Do I assume correctly that this permission is irrelevant to those who do not use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?
  19. When an update for Browser Guard is available, an orange spot on the 'Open Application Menu' button. When clicked, a popup appears requesting permission to update. Does this mean that the previous version continues to operate until that permission is given by the user? Is this a Firefox thing or is it a Malwarebytes created behaviour. It does not happen with Google Chrome.
  20. Why does a new version of Browser Guard cause a request for permission in Firefox? Isn't the original request after first installation sufficient? Many will not notice the less than significant orange spots on the three parallel bars at the top right hand corner of the Firefox window or be deterred by the permission procedure.
  21. I have a fix. It is to uninstall MBAE then install a previous version (assuming that you have a stock of MBAE installation runfiles). While this is being done, Internet access must be stopped so MBAE cannot immediately update to version 1.13.1.516. The MBAE user can add shields and when this is completed, Internet access can be restarted. If the necessary changes have not been done correctly and if MBAE has reupdated to version 1.13.1.516, the process describe above will need to be repeated.
