  1. Hi, thanks for stopping by! See you back on the fora soon.

    :)

  2. Just hopped in to say a quick hi....hope you're enjoying your summer!

  3. Just popping in to say hi and thanks for your help....

  4. Hi Yardbird! Thanks for the prompt reply. I don't have the Security Suite, just the AV with AS, but I presume if I go straight to the permissions section of the AV&AS program, I'll find similar ways there to allow MWAB to be recognized by TM. I appreciate the step-by-step instructions too.
  5. If this has been discussed before, my apologies for bringing it up again. I'm still finding my way around here. Very simply, does Trend Micro 2008/2009 AV & AS play nicely with Malwarebytes? I have Malwarebytes on my XP desktop. It doesn't fight Norton (I don't like Norton that much). I'd love to install it on my laptop that has TM. Thanks for any opinions, cautions or encouraging words you can offer. Have a wonderful Thursday going into the weekend!
  6. Just saying hello!

  7. Thanks for all the additional input, everyone. I've not used reg cleaners before and really didn't know for sure if it was something I should have been doing that I did not. Wouldn't be the first time... However, if there's really no discernible difference in performance and the inherent risks seem high for the results, probably it's a good idea to pass. *sigh of relief, crossing off one more item on TO DO list*
  8. Thanks for your replies. As we can see, there's a divided opinion on the need and usefulness of the little buggers.
  9. 3, 7 and 10 are especially spot on. *laughing through tears *
  10. Another great gorgeous kittykat photo!

  11. Hello, I'm a relative newbie to these fora. If this has been discussed at length, any links provided here will be helpful and accepted with thanks. I've never used a registry cleaner on my laptop primarily because I keep reading that if you don't know what you're doing, it's not a good idea. Any thoughts on this? If you do use one, is there one you'd recommend that's good for those of us who are not pros? And if you don't, why do you not use one? Thanks. Happy first full day of summer to all.
  12. The boys are healthy and happy and big pests. Funnily enough, I found I used the Big Blue Mail Box just one block away less and less as time went on. But no matter what it is, whether it's a humble post office receptacle or the local KFC, if it's been there forever and is now gone (the KFC and the Burger King were torn down to make way for commercial/real estate developments that were never built thanks to the RE meltdown in SoCali), it takes you aback. Maybe I'll be designated a landmark and saved from being razed down the road.
  13. *getting out cleaner to mop up laptop screen after spitting out coffee with laughter*
  14. The boys are a domestic short hair/Siamese mix. They'll be 15 this year, the scamps. Oh yes, it's those big blue standalone on the street corner mail boxes that are being removed as the USPS reevaluates their needs versus consumer wants and needs. It was a genuine "whaaaat?" moment since I now live just a few blocks from where I grew up. That mail box had been there since Beatlmania at least.
  15. This thread is a few months old, but as a newcomer to the forum, I wanted to add my comments and experience. A friend said Adware was the best free program out there, so I went to Google to find it. Well, long story short, I ran the free scan and they came up with hundreds of malware on my 'puter. However, for $19.95 or thereabouts, I could get a year's subscription, all would be cleaned, blah blah blah. Sounded cheap, I thought, why not? Bet most of you know the story already. She had said AdAware, I found the Adware site first (hmmm) and thought it was the one she'd mentioned. When I ran Malwarebytes for the first time, it found over 3000 incidents of "Rogue Spyware" droppings left thanks to Adware. I don't know a hell of a lot, but I know enough to be dangerous, now having informed myself a little better about AV and AS. Adware Alert may be a good product after all. My paranoia and distress may not be justified. But I never was comfortable after being dumb enough to buy the subscription after being told my machine was infected then learning that this has been an operating procedure for them in the past, even after being "delisted" as a rogue by another source. I simply don't think that's the best way to do business.
  16. Yes, I read Tigger's blurb. He is a handsome fellow. I have two handsome tomcats myself. According to the USPS, they've been slowly removing the stand alone blue boxes through the country over the last several years. The general guidelines state that if 25 pieces of mail or less are deposited each day, the box is tagged for review. So I guess my ancient depository had fewer and fewer drops in it, so out it went.
  17. *waving hi to the beautiful kitty in the photo* Welll, except for the occasional card/letter or something that has to be mailed definitely, I do everything online: pay bills, send e-cards (personalized, I assure you, personalized), the whole ball of wax. I bought some Forever Stamps 'bout a year ago. I may have most of them forever at the rate I'm using them. I also got the startle of my life a few months back when I took a walk to the mail box just a block from my home....it was gone. It had been there for as long as I could remember. By doing some digging around ONLINE (ahem), I found that standalone mail boxes were being removed if they did not have over a certain number of items deposited in them per week. Oddly enough, new lofts and other developments have sprung up on the very block where that vintage blue box used to live. But people are either taking important items directly to the Post Office (I, for one, would not put anything with my SS # in a mail box overnight, period!) or doing more work online. Things do change, and quickly.... The USPS will survive and even thrive IF it starts to reinvent itself now. Strictly anecdotal observation and conjecture on my part, but it seemed that they took a long while to figure out that FAX, email and online services weren't going to go away any time soon. So my guess is that we will see cutbacks even closures of certain branch offices in certain areas down the road. But the USPS will be around in some form or the other, I'd bet on it.
  18. Hi, everyone, just joined today. HOUSE is probably the best drama on TV. Love Hugh Laurie. Yum. No fave episode. I've watched most of them at least twice since there's always bits of dialogue and interplay between the characters that may be missed upon first viewing.
