  1. For all I know in a week or two it may ask me for a license key. With the windows media creation tool running from my Win 7 Pro system disk M.2 SSD it automatically installed Win 10 Pro without a key. It is working for now. My difficulties were probably due to registry issues. As I said I have tried to upgrade several times. Originally I didn't have the disc space on my 512GB ssd. I moved as much as I could to a standard SSD. Some of the programs didn't allow me to select an install directory so I ended up moving them manually and reconnecting the start menu items. The programs worked. No guarantees I didn't mess up the registry. Eventually I swapped my 512GB Plextor SSD for a 1TB Samsung. I had all kinds of trouble cloning the old drive onto the new one, and getting it to boot. I've heard there issues with windows licenses and changing hardware. Sorry that got so long winded. I just wanted to give some background. What finally worked for me was uninstalling Avast, uninstalling Visual Studio, turning off all the non-Microsoft services, and deleting the old $Windows.-WS from the previous install. The computer is basically working. My web cam isn't recognized. I have a directory I don't think I need on my C drive, that has Windows6.1-KB2685811-x64.cab in it . I know there will be a few more issues to work through. I can handle that. This forum is about getting Malwarebytes working so I don't want to take up any more of you time. Thank you for all of your help!
  2. I had heard that but I could never get it to install. I finally worked through all the update issues today. You are right it never asked for the license key. Oh well, I'm due to build another computer soon. Maybe I'll use it then.
  3. I haven't had any of the issues mentioned. Thanks for the info. I bought a Win 10 License Key a while back. I plan to install that this weekend.
  4. I was"t about to restore the page I was on. I cleared that when I shut the computer down. Guess I should have mentioned that. Malewarebytes was installed, but it was an older version. It ran but didn't show any problems. I updated it and installed Browser Guard, and Ublock. I just ran another scan. It also came up clean. This is an old computer. When Win 10 came out their were issues with game comparability. So I went with win 7. I ran Norton, provided by Comcast until comcast said they installed a firewall in the router that made AV software unnecessary. I installed Avast with MB, and planned to do the win 10 upgrade. I just keep putting it off. It's definitely time.
  5. Thanks Porthos! I thought it was probably just the Website trying to phish for personal info., or get me to allow remote desktop access. I guess I'll just boot normally and check if MB is properly installed. It took a bit for me to figure out how to get back into my account. It looks like I have 2 of 4 premium subscriptions I haven't been using. I may have forgotten to reinstall MB when I changed the system drive on my gamming PC a few months ago. I haven't had any virus or malware issues for years. It looks like MB includes anti-virus now. I've always used another AV program along with MB. Is it alright to use Malwarebytes Premium for both anti-virus and anti-malware?
  6. I just Googled amazon and clicked the first link that came up. The browser opened to a window showing a big warning about identity theft, and a stilted voice told me to call the Microsoft support number on my screen. I shut the computer down using task manager. I'd like to start it the computer in safe mode and run Malwarebytes. I'm not actually sure I have it installed. If it turn out it is not installed is it possible to run it from a flash drive or install it while I'm in safe mode? On a side note I believe a pay for an MB subscription for 4 computers. Is it possible to find out how many I have installed, and what computer they are on?
  7. When I download Secruity Check, Norton Security Suite say it is unsafe and immediately deletes the file.
  8. I thought I had deleted this file before starting this thread. I'm not sure why it came back. After deleting the file, I rebooted and NSS brought up the same message. I hit rescan and NSS said that the threat was gone. I ran a full system scan and NSS didn't show any unresolved threats. It looks like this may have solved my issue.
  9. The BMP is what I'm seeing. I used Export Results to generate the attached .txt file. MS Safety Scanner repaired one item. I don't recall the exact name, but it was not Qakbot. I could run it again if you like. NSS Report.txt NSSQakbot.bmp
  10. I made a mistake and ran MS Safety Scanner before AdwCleaner. Hopefully that won't mess anything up. The AdwCleaner and Mbam logs are attached. I'm still seeing the warning from Norton. Is it OK to paste a screen capture of this in my next reply? I'm wondering if the warning message might be a false popup created by the virus. It looks authentic, although I've only had Norton installed for about a month so I don't have much to compare this message to. AdwCleanerS0.txt mbam-log-2013-11-04 (14-53-43).txt
  11. I couldn't find any way to disable Norton anti-spyware. Eventually I ran ComboFix anyway. The log is attached. ComboFix.txt
  12. Don't close it. Sorry if there was confusion. I mentioned taking a 3 day weekend to go fishing. Maybe you thought I was kidding. I attached the mbar logs you asked for in your previous post. It didn't seem to find anything. Norton is still reporting a "Threat Detected" on W32.Qakbot. Terry mbar-log-2013-11-04 (07-52-42).txt system-log.txt
  13. Here is the Rouge Killer report. I'm taking a 3 day weekend. I will be leaving soon, so probably won't get back to this till Monday. Gone fishing Terry RKreport0_S_10312013_145242.txt
  14. I have Norton Security Suite as part of my Comcast subscription. It keeps putting up a threat warning for W32.QAKBOT and says the "Remove Failed". When I run Malwarebytes it says that no infections are detected. I'm trying to find out if Norton is giving a false positive on the infection. Here are my log files.attach.txtdds.txt
