  1. Thanks so much!!! Thats exactly what I was after. Thanks again for your help, the next time I post I will have a real bad virus... I hope that never happens. Awesome, you saved my butt, and I learned a lot, and I know you have more interesting malware related things to deal with, so thanks so much for your time.
  2. Oh sorry, I always seem to forget something. The Ip of the incoming tries about 15-20 or more times, and then changes ports, and also IPs as well. I just would like to know. I can't figure it out.
  3. No we are good. Thanks again, and sorry I flap my gums so much on here. I tend to think 'outloud' as I'm doing this. If I have another topic in the future, I will restrain myself more. Could you please answer ONE last question on this topic, and then I will leave it alone. Just to put my mind at ease. I have a constant incoming connection, and a outgoing one too, that eset is bocking, I just want to know what service it is. I have looked around online, and cant find anything. I know it's svchost, but I have like a LOT of those running. I just want to understand why thats all. It's 3-5 a minute all day all night. 11/11/2013 6:02:31 PM Communication denied by rule 192.168.1.1:138 192.168.1.255:138 UDP Block incoming NETBIOS requests System 11/11/2013 6:02:31 PM Communication denied by rule 192.168.1.1:138 192.168.1.255:138 UDP Block incoming NETBIOS requests System 80::ad0b:c1ea:2f6d:8ab3.:51206 ff02::1:3.:5355 UDP Block outgoing multicast DNS requests C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE 192.168.1.157:137 192.168.1.255:137 UDP Block NETBIOS Name Service requests System I just want to know, then Im out of your hair! Thanks again for dealing with me. Very cool of you.
  4. Yep so I guess my router got bricked. I'm thinkin' that some foreign firmware got uploaded to it. I couldn't update the firmware, and my configuration settings wouldn't stick. I also heard that I wasn't the only one in the area who this happened to. So I'm not totally out to lunch. Apperently the tecs didn't really know what to do. I'm hoping that this solves it for me. Ive got windws 7 installed on all three systems, and the last one is pretty much updated... Thanks again. Do you have a preference in routers? I like my new one, except that the configuration section loads extremely slowly.
  5. So I have 2 out of three computers running with 7. Seems good. Working on the third and at the same time testing the router offline with a junk computer I have. After I did the hard factory reset, I was able to access everything and change everything, but I still can't upgrade the firmware, it won't let me, and then I also noticed pages I had made adjustments on had changed back. lol. I'm thinking its time for a new router. Thanks again for all your help. I couldn't have done it without you, and will let you know how things work out.
  6. Cool that's what I ended up doing. And now I see you told me to do exactly that. But anyway. It seems as though it went pretty smooth. One thing, I'm sure it's nothing. The disk is service pack 1, in updates it shows 2 they have been done one in 2010, and one just a few days ago. Normal? So any other tips to get me going? I will do my updates as soon as I get online. I was looking at the firmware you mentioned for my router, it doesn't show the model I have, so I guess I probably can't use it. Do you have any suggestions for good secure routers and setup?
  7. You're probably sleeping. That's all good. If not, just wondering what's the best way to partition.?I have it all one allocated space from three, and I'm just not 100%. I'll keep looking though.
  8. Do I need to have the drivers for everything ready, like for my video card and stuff?
  9. Yep I got both the certificate and the code. My backup is almost done. It's taking a little longer than expected.
  10. So I think I'm ready to go. I'm not looking forward to installing all my programs. It is so time consuming. But this has been too... What do I do specifically?
  11. I guess you would say its a custom. Asus mobo, Intel i7 3820 CPU. The dvd as far as I know I'd just Microsoft. I guess I should copy my key. Side note. Malware bytes hadn't been working for a few days. There was no icon and it said it was missing. I forced it to fire up and as soon as I did something started making a BUNCH of changes to the registry. Like 15 changes and I'm not kidding. Then when I scanned it would go for 1 second and say it was done and nothing found. Lol
  12. So then if I back up onto an existing USB hard drive, then format the disk, that would be what you mean? You spoke of two options, which would be the cleaner way. I would like to start tonight. I Already have started my backup process.
  13. Oh, and this may be a question for Microsoft or a retailer, but I've heard that you can put your windows 7 serial on up to three systems. Do you know if that is true? Thanks again for your time.
  14. Ok. My phone just crashed so I hope I'm not posting twice here. Thanks agains for your help. You've been awesome, sorry about my mistakes, also not posting some stuff yet, I will as soon as I'm online again. First thing, what are the pros and cons to the two methods you stated? Second, "ghosting" the hard drive is not an option here because of the corupted files right? Third, what is the best way to back up. Right now I just have my critical files on a USB hardrive. I should probably do the other systems on my network. I will upgrade to xp to 7 on those. I was going to do it as soon as I got hardware, but if it's ok I'll just do it, and upgrade the hardware later. I think I ran a 7 test on them a while back and they passed.
  15. Shoot well no matter how I do it it doesn't find anything wrong. The system keeps making changes it has been making changes to control set. Quite a few in the last hour. I THINK that this is a virus. My quake buddy years ago told me when I had a pretty bad Trojan that it was nothing, the worst one he ever experienced was the windows scripting virus.
