  1. Just an fyi, the link in the first post worked for me a few hours ago using Chrome, I am also in Manitoba. Now its time to go ride my moose.
  2. These guys always show too many AV's scoring perfect every time, which means imo, that they are testing incorrectly or that there is virtually zero difference in protection between the leading 10 or so AV brands. I'm thinking its a bit of both, most other AV testing organizations do not show this clumping of perfect protection results for so many products. And if you go back a couple of years and compile stats from the test results from multiple organizations, it basically confirms that most AV's provide almost equal protection , the difference is minimal if you compare number of samples versus samples not detected. Also, I would not trust any youtube testers.
  3. Malwarebytes Version: 4.3.0.98 Components Version: 1.0.1130 Update Package Version: 1.0.38745 Malware.AI.4090910830 Checksums: The file AdwCleaner\Version 3_0_2_3\adwcleaner.exe has the following Checksum(s) MD5 - 04B47DEEB298AE90A0C42DEAED71F8BA SHA-160 - 04C656F5CB00708B093B050DFCBB0D3F34E4A56A SHA-256 - 450DE13F98DC79C3E6359CB244FAC2A6F23F848F531F5C5A3EC3B9C2AF365714 I know this version is 8 years old ( I'm not using it) just wondering why it would detect this? I think I may know the reason but just want to confirm. Thanks.
  4. Well maybe they could harvest our data and sell it, nobody does that right?😄 Pretty sure Google ain't hurting for money, however, given the choice of ads all day or paying a small fee such as $50/year, I pay all day long. I have zero empathy for any big corporations whose only goal is to gouge and exploit their customers. ISP's, banks, telco, etc.
  5. I am not overly concerned about privacy, if I was I would just stay off the internet. What I'm worried about is the "new" Chrome breaking ad-blockers. I despise advertising of any sort and would not be using any browser if I could not block ads while using said browser.
  6. Glad you like it. However I agree with AdvancedSetup that this kind of tool can be abused or somewhat ineffective. But its not useless, so if you like it just keep using it.
  7. If you want something that will show green check marks for safe sites you could try adding Bitdefender Trafficlight, its a browser extension that works on both Chrome and Edge, get it at the Google store. And as a bonus it also protects you from phishing and fraud attempts. I find it works very well, I use it for the protection aspect and not the Search Advisor (checkmarks).
  8. Throw up as many warnings as you like asking for a restart, but under no circumstances should any program force a restart.
  9. If Microsoft does not want people using system restore then they just need to get rid of it, what's the point of offering it and then saying no,no, don't use it kiddies. Its saved me numerous times, such as..... a bsod.... from a botched Windows update!! I also use Aeomi but only use it when system restore doesn't work. Trying Rollback RX now, quite nice, a reboot and you can roll back to a previous image, very simple and very quick.
  10. Just check your System Restore, this update turned off my system protection ( not the first time).
  11. Yup, when the marketing department takes over your in trouble, see Avast. 😉
  12. I concur, you really don't need Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro Alert ( if that is what your referring to.) Malwarebytes is less buggy than HMP in my experience as well.
  13. I would be hesitant to delete it especially since you have no idea what its for. Its probably doing no harm and deleting it could cause issues. Maybe someone else will here will know what its for.
  14. From the developer: The SbieDrv.sys driver must be signed, and since the appropriate certificates are prohibitively expensive, I head to use a leaked code signing certificate I found laying around the Internets. This means some anti malware applications wrongfully flag it as potentially dangerous or a virus.
  15. This, and worse, is going to happen, just a matter of time and there will be no way to stop it. My dim view of things.
  16. But why worry about Cortana, either live with it or use an outdated OS or use Linux. I turn off what I can for Cortana, Cortana is the least of my worries. As I said previously if I was worried about Google or Microsoft spying on me then I would just stay off the internet.
  17. Nah, a good security solution combined with safe practices should mitigate the chances of a keylogger being installed on your system.
  18. Yah, I use a PO box and refuse to give out my phone number as well. I am more concerned about identity theft than Google or Microsoft seeing what sites I visit.
  19. Oh I care, just not enough to worry about it, life is too short as they say.
  20. One of these days I'm going to try your SRWare browser.
  21. When does trying to be private become more of a pain then just just being on the internet? I don't do social media, buy little online so they don't get my cc number, use fake names on forums, some other stuff. But when is it too much, I use Chrome, because it works the best for me. Basically my opinion is if you want privacy then stay off the internet. Like that is going to happen.😀
