  1. There are steps you can take to try to keep your information secure on your computers, there is nothing you can do when any information you have is in the hands of others. Think IRS, banks, shopping sites, hotels, airlines, the list is endless. Be aware that virtually all of these will be hacked eventually and that almsot everyones info will be "out there" for sale. The only defense we have is that with hundreds of millions peoples info exposed that the chance of yours be abused is slim.

  2. Sorry to hijack your thread Brad but I have a quick question and didn't figure it was worthwhile to start a new one.

I have Ads/Trackers off for all websites, however when I go to any site, all which I know do not contain malware, the Malwarebytes browser guard icon shows several blocks. What is it blocking if there is no malware on site and it is not supposed to be blocking ads/trackers?

    Thanks.

  3. I want to give my feedback.

I do not like the "Shop" icon. I don't install a security program to shop, I know why you guys do it, I just don't like or need it.

I wish there was a way to minimize or get rid of the "Online Privacy" box for those of use who won't be using the VPN.

The " Security Advisor" box is great for some, but for those of us who don't need or want it I wish there was a way to get rid of it also.

The first two issues are just a way of upselling which is a no-no for me.

    Thanks

Off topic but the number 555 always brings up the 555 timer IC from when I was back getting my electronics degree.

Congrats on reaching 555 posts and helping out here on the forums.

Thanks, but I rarely post anymore, the team you have that manages and provides support on the forum does an excellent job, they sure don't need my help.

  5. FYI, I went to that site and it defaulted to Nova Scotia as well, the pop up asking for permission to access my location appeared, I clicked 'Allow", location then reverted to Manitoba( I live in Manitoba as well), I closed browser and then opened site again, this time the location was correct, it showed Manitoba. This is using Chrome and not using MB. ( not sure if this helps😁)

  6. Yes, Unlocker gets flagged on VT, but some other "safe" tools I use get flagged too. I've scanned Unlocker with Defender, Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, Emsisoft , F Secure, and Voodoo Shield, all safe.

I was just contributing my 2 cents, my experience has shown that Unlocker is safe and that it works, up to Garioch if he wants to try it seeing that nothing else has worked to date.

Not trying to be a shill for Iobit, I don't post here much anymore because I have nothing to contribute as the helpers are doing such a good job, but when I do I am just trying to help.

  7. I'll chime in.

Configure Defender is very easy to use, just set your protection level and do not mess with the other settings. Recommended setting is " High", CD uses Windows built in settings, is portable and increases your protection levels significantly. It can only be used if your using Windows Defender as your primary anti-virus.

Hard Configurator is meant for people with an advanced level of computer experience, in other words if you do not understand what the settings mean then its best to find another program.

Another, simpler option by the same developer is Simple Windows Hardening, like CD it uses Windows built in settings and is portable. Basically its just "on" or "off", as with CD do not mess with the other settings unless you know what your doing. Both CD and SWH are excellent tools that provide advanced protection and are easy to use even for someone with limited computer experience.

I won't be able to do this until tomorrow. I'm on a laptop now because I don't want to surf with MBAM not protecting me!

Yes, I tried entering my license. The license keeps saying please enter a valid license.  I have both an ID and a license because, as I said, I've had this for years. I toggled the switch that said my license came with an ID. I entered the ID in one box and the license in the other. I'm getting something about device limit reached. This ID and license is only used on one computer. I have 5 lifetime licenses all in use.

Additional information: our Windows 7 64 bit laptops are working fine and the Lifetime license appears when I look at about to get the info.

Shot in the dark here. This has happened to me on several occasions, where after entering the ID and License it would reject them. What worked for me is instead of typing them I would cut and paste them from the Malwarebytes receipt, worked every time. Very strange.
