  1. Looks like we're all clear. Reports form ADW and most recent MB are attached. ADW picked up a few things, and I let it clean them all out.MB came back 100% clean. I did manually check all PUP that came up in a previous scan and deleted them. Browsers seem to be running clean no out of the ordinary ads or traffic with unknown servers. Installed EFF HTTPS-everywhere and adblock plus for cleaner browsing. Installed Foxit reader which didn't specify the ask toolbar, but did have plugins for browsers that I opted out of just in case. MrCharlie, Thank You again for all of your assistance. Its people such as yourself (and your team) that make the world a better place! :-) mbam-log-2013-10-14 (16-09-16).txt AdwCleanerS0.txt
  2. Hi MrC, Last night after completing the MBAR scan and removing the infected Flash Player file, I installed MB and ran a full scan. MB returned 16 pieces of malware and I let MB remove them all. I then installed AVG and ran a full system scan which yielded no results. However AVG did promt me that it detected a fake av process and I used AVG to remove it. From there, I attempted to update flash player by visiting the adobe site, and it was covered in ads. I was very skeptical and did not download anything and closed the browser immediately. I have since uninstalled all adobe applications (since adobe files seemed to be the source of the malware) from the control panel. Once I logged back in this morning and saw your most recent post, I downloaded combofix from my xp machine and transferred via USB to the infected PC. I copied the downloaded file directly to the desktop and ran it from there as per the instructions. I have attached the combofix log to this post. I hope none of the steps I took last night will have done any harm, but please advise on what my next steps should be. Thank You Very Much, Phlip combofix log.txt
  3. Thanks Again MrC, I have attached the MBAR log file for reference, but it looks like the problem is now solved. The culprit appears to have been a fake or infected flash player installation file. It was in the downloads folder and was named: FlashPlayer_V.70689518b.exe --> [Adware.DomaIQ] Thank you again for your help! You saved me a lot of time and energy as I probably would have ended up reformatting and reinstalling the OS. mbar-log-2013-10-13 (22-01-47).txt
  4. MrC, Thank You very much! I have followed your instructions above and the fixlist file you provided worked perfectly. After running the fix in FRST64 and rebooting, I booted into windows normally and was able to access the desktop with no interference from the white screen or any other malware that I noticed. I downloaded mbar from another machine and transferred to the infected PC via flash drive. I am running MBAR scan as we speak and will report back on the results. Once the MBAR scan is complete, I was going to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and scan again with that. Is this necessary or does MBAR perform the same functions as MBAM? Also, can you please recommend your preferred application for active antivirus/anti-malware? I usually install AVG free and MBAM and enable windows firewall on my windows machines and this combination seems to keep me pretty well protected.
  5. Windows is being locked by an unresponsive blank white screen when I try to boot normally. Safe mode and safe mode with networking both reboot immeditately and take me back to normal boot & white screen. Safe mode with command prompt does boot sucessfully though. I have attempted multiple recoveries from different system restore points which either fail or the problem persists. I have a win 7 install CD as well as a Win XP machine. My next step was going to be to pull the infected hard drive and scan it with malwarebytes from my XP machine using a sata - USB interface. I just thought I would post my issue here to see if anyone might know of a better way to solve this problem. Its win 7 Home Premium 64. I followed MrC's instructions from a different thread using a Win 7 64 installation cd to get into system recovery. The results of the FarBar scan are copied below. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. 6. I should have been more specific about the problem, I apologize. Windows is locked by an unresponsive blank white screen when I try to boot normally or in safe mode. Safe mode with command prompt does boot sucessfully though. I have attempted multiple recoveries from different system restore points which either fail or the problem persists. I do have a win 7 install CD as well as a Win XP machine. My next step was going to be to pull the infected hard drive and scan it with malwarebytes from my XP machine using a sata - USB interface. Thanks Again! Phlip
  7. Hello, I am having this same issue on my sister's laptop. Its win 7 Home Premium 64. I followed MrC's instructions above using a Win 7 64 installation cd to get into system recovery. The results of the FarBar scan are copied below. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
