  1. No luck. Here's the latest frst log. It is prompting me to download a new version because it's 8 days old. Do I really need to do that? Thank you, Tarcia FRST.txt
  2. OK. It says "Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log Tarcia
  3. OK, I did the scan with the C drive. It says its beginning system scan. This process will take some time. Sorry for the confusion. Little freak out. Tarcia
  4. I don't really understand the tutorial. I'm totally computer illiterate. I can't even tell if I need a disk, or I'm running it offline, or if I'm supposed to download the program on that page! I'm an idiot. Tarcia
  5. There's an OS (C:); RECOVERY (I:), and Boot (X:). I want C? Sorry.
  6. Am I supposed to have a Windows Disk in the CD drive?
  7. Sorry, the drive letter of what? Where my flash drive is?
  8. Sorry, never mind. I needed to refresh the page!
  9. Did you post something here and remove it? Did I miss something? Tarcia
  10. I tried a system restore on all the available dates and none of them work. They each list some file that could not be restored, and each date had a different file. Tarcia
  11. I just saw the restore suggestion. I will try that. So I am safe to use the most recent date?
  12. Wow, this is going to take a while. It's been about an hour and it's on 11%....
  13. it says: The type of file is NTFS> Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Chkdsk may run if this volume is dismounted first. ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (y/n)
  14. Still just in a loop of starting, asking to choose startup repair or start normally. Seems like I am screwed. But I know nothing about these things. Tarcia
  15. It says "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically". Then the next screen says if I have recently attached a decive to this computer such as a camera or portable music player, remove it and restart your computer. If you continue to see this message, contact your system administator or computer manufacturer for assistance. I havent had anything attached besides the flash drive.
  16. Trying system repair now. It would not let me restore to any of the dates listed. I didn't try the most recent date because I think that date is after the problem ocurred.
  17. If I choose start normally, it starts to open windows. Then it goes black, restarts and goes back to the Intel UNDI screen and starts all over. I can try a system restore again.
  18. It goes through some startup thing starting with Intel UNDI PXE-2.1 (build 003) etc etc etc. Then a black screen with this opens: Windows filed to start, A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. If windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, startup repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during the startup, choose start windows normally. (use the arrow key to highlight your choice) launch startup repair (recommended) start windows normally
