  1. Was running a custom scan on my C drive and when scanning the calibre temp folder full of cover jpgs it got stuck on one jpg and two hours later was still showing that it was scanning that same file, which was under 100k in size. Since the scan had been running 13 hours I clicked on cancel scan and it did not stop... just kept on running... a few minutes later I used the task manager to kill the task and then restarted malwarebytes. Why would it get hung up on a jpg file of a book cover?
  2. What is the expectation if scanning a 1 terabyte drive, time wise, with and without rootkit checking?
  3. I cannot turn on Website Blocking in version 1.45 and the log file shows error code 21 every time I try, but error code 21 is not covered in the help file so I have no idea what that means. How do I turn ON IP blocking in version 1.45?
  4. I want IP Protection on at all times, unless I specifically want to turn it off, or unless I specifically want to make an exception of an IP address. However often when I boot up my computer or reboot it IP Protection is NOT checked, and I cannot check it to make it turn on. I can stop and start protection and it makes no difference. I then reboot the computer and it is back on, showing as checked. It is this inconsistency that is frustrating. Is there any KNOWN registry switch or any other technique that will turn on IP Protection when it is not showing as on? I use F-Prot for my AV and also run Comodo Firewall PRO, plus have Spybot installed and protection turned on. Will 1.45 help solve this problem too? HELP
  5. Cannot reach hosts-file.net at all from here in Toronto. Get a Done on a blank screen. Sam Spade reports it is at 212.56.95.253 but I simply cannot get there even using http://212.56.95.253... so what does it report? And when is the version where I can turn off blocking of selected IP addresses coming out? It said November, but we have reached the end of the month without it...

Checking shows at least 55 different web sites use this same IP address, and at least one of them is genealogy related based on the name of the web site, and it refers to people in Canada, where I am... so this may be the reason my requests flow that way. Ancestry.com uses geocoding and always tries to get me to sign onto ancestry.ca as well, so that may too be a factor. I do NOT know and cannot control the flow between my computer and Provo, Utah, so how do I get past this massive delay every time I try to go to the web site.
  7. Trying to get to this Genealogy site in Germany, I keep getting the IP address shown and then do NOT connect to the web site. I get Problem Loading Page. If I turn off IP blocking I get there immediately. MalwareBytes is making Genealogy research very difficult as it keeps blocking my access to Genealogy sites around the world, even if the end destination site is not the problem, but some intermediary address between myself, here in Canada, and the site in the U.S, Germany, or wherever, is the problem. I cannot control the routing, after all. Suggestions are welcome, but these are sites I need to get to!
  8. I have a one year paid subscription to Ancestry.com, which is a site used for genealogy research. Every time I go to that site I seem to get an IP warning in the bubble at the lower right of my screen re 208.73.210.27, which is in the log file. It then takes an inordinate amount of time for Ancestry.com to open on my screen. If I turn off IP blocking I get to Ancestry.com almost immediately. Once I get there, I no longer get the warning, as I change searches, etc., so it seems to be on the 'desired' route between my computer and ancestry.com... or from here in Toronto to Provo, Utah... I'm not certain where the 'nefarious' site is, or what the problem MalwareBytes has with the site. FWIW RsH
  9. http://www.lightleaks.org/index.php?option...8&Itemid=55 I have to turn off IP protection to get to the magazine's web site.
  10. Why is this being blocked? I use it to obtain Torrent data which I then can download using
  11. Found the solution, if not the cause of the problem in the first place... I was still getting all my email and still working with the Internet via IE and Firefox without any difficulty, but I just found that I could NOT download updates to products such as Microsoft Streets & Trips either, so I opened IE and went into the properties and set up the internet connection again. Now all is well. It was NOT the A-V product <grin> as now, without any changes to the firewall or F-Prot, the download is working. For some reason the set-up that internally showed there was a connection to the internet was lost and as a result the downloads were not working even though other downloads, such as the update for F-Prot, were still working. Go figure! I am also still losing my boot.ini file, even though I restored it using the Microsoft method via the CD, so I willl have to see if my boot.ini file will disappear again. It started at the same time I rebooted after installing version 1.37, so I will have to see if the loss of internet connectivity is related, since that has been restored and version 1.37 is now installed, and [after a clean brief scan] is running on a full scan of the hard drives. After that I may try a scan using the TrendAV scan via the Internet to see if there is something in RAM causing problems that my other defenses are not finding. Thanks for the hint... Step one should now be... Double Check your Internet Connection set-up <grin>... even if email, etc., is still working.
  12. I did the removal routine two time, and manually checked the registry to remove all mention of Malwarebytes there too. I use Windows Firewall and F-Prot as well as Spybot, and F-Prot would NOT be stopping the download of an update. It never has before, either. So after all that I still keep getting the same message. What does that 12029 mean? I now have Malwarebytes totally uninstalled, incidentally, and even after the full removal, with multiple reboots, and reinstall, I got the SAME exact message... with the same 12029 value, and that only started with the install of version 1.37! Version 1.36 was just fine, thank you, and I would willingly reinstall THAT version to prove that it is fine if I could do so without having 1.37 then be automatically downloaded and installed to 'update' me. RsH
  13. Since installing 1.37 today I keep getting error code 732. Malwarebytes is definitely permitted explicitly in my Windows Firewall setup and as you can see from this message I am definitely connected to the internet, but I cannot get version 1.37 to update! What is going on???? HELP
