Go to Browser Guard's SUPPORT page and look for the link titled Download Debug Logs (in the lower left corner). Collect the log file and send it to me. Your website requires authentication, so I cannot independently view the error as it occurs. I need to know exactly what is blocked and why.

I am not seeing the block at this time. Please try again.

False positive for software downloads of www.analyzeiq.com
gonzo replied to MM-AIQ's topic in Website Blocking
I have just download ALL of the files you have mentioned without encountering any issues of any kind. You have an issue with cache. Empty the cache, close the browser, reopen the browser and try again. Also, this has nothing to do with the Malwarebytes main program. You were/are being blocked by Malwarebytes Browser Guard, an extension that runs in Firefox/Chrome/Edge/Safari browsers. If you did not specifically install Browser Guard from one of the browser web stores, that means you installed it as part of installing the Malwarebytes Premium/Trial program. That installer has a checkbox which is checked by default to install Browser Guard. If you did not uncheck the box, you installed Browser Guard. The log you sent shows nothing because it was not blocked by Malwarebytes main program. As I mentioned previously, executable files are blocked by default because too many people simply assume that everything they want to download is safe. Executables includes EXE files, JRE files, COM files, Office files (DOC/DOCX/XLS/XLSX, these due to the potential for infected macros). You have the option (as shown in the block message) to download the file in question if you know it to be safe. If you download from a specific site on a regular basis (and trust that site), you can also add them to your Allow List. -
The site has been whitelisted. Please allow 15-30 minutes for changes to take effect. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Browser Guard blocks download of all executable files by default. The site has been whitelisted. Please allow 15-30 minutes for changes to take effect. Sorry for the inconvenience. -
I just put in the URL (as written here) and it downloaded just fine. AH! Doing it from the website main page does get blocked for suspicious content. I'll fix that right now. Please allow 15-30 minutes for changes to take effect.

I appreciate you stopping me from getting Rick Rolled though, but...

I saw phishing as cause of block and moved it over here. Tested now...no problems. -
The website has been whitelisted. Do it to it!

I received approval to whitelist the IP address, so I have done that. Please allow 15-30 minutes for changes to take effect. You should then be able to offer the download without any blocks. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I know. Its all good.

You were being literal the first time. Thank you! People often speak generically, so I have to ask. (Not trying to be a nuisance) The site has been whitelisted. Please allow 15-30 minutes for changes to take effect. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Malwarebytes Premium or Browser Guard? If Browser Guard, are you using a download manager extension also? There are dozens of blocks that can be implemented. Knowing which specific one is extremely helpful.

I agree with your findings and have also verified that it was whitelisted. I am currently writing an email to find out if that tracker is being blocked at a deeper level. I apologize for the continuing issue. I thought it would have been resolved on Saturday, and attempts to get it resolved today have not accomplished anything...weekends being what they are. I am writing the email now so that responsible parties can have it available for their perusal before I wake up. As far as I am concerned, the clock is ticking and I do not like ticking clocks. Again, apologies.

I did not say there was malware. Thirteen different domains are hosted on that IP address. If I unblock your site, I am also unblocking theirs. Can you vouch for them? For the record, you are using HTTP for the download of an executable file. That is not secure. I will need to confer with my superiors to determine how this should be handled.
-
Your company web site is on that IP address but you are using the IP address here instead. Can I ask why? You are not the only domain on that IP, so unblocking the IP is inviting the possibiliity of malware from any of the other 12, not to mention any other domains which may be associated with that IP in the future.

I messed up on the timing. The power shutdown started earlier than expected today, and it is schedule to be off until 10pm Pacific Time on Saturday. Yours is one of two items I need to check for completion, and I will start trying early evening Saturday to see if facilities are available. Sorry for the confusion and the delays.

UPDATE: The tracker has been whitelisted, but the database update cannot occur until tomorrow morning due to a power shutdown affecting the hardware involved. Sorry for the last minute problem. Please note that anyone using AdBlock or uBlock Origin (competing products) will still have issues on your website. Browser Guard users will be able to use functionality as you intended.

I have whitelisted the single tracker for your site only due to the way it is employed. Please allow 15-30 minutes for changes to take effect. Thanks for your patience.

There are two scenarios where Browser Guard blocks downloads: If the download is an executable (EXE) file or a Office document (DOC/DOCX/XLS/XLSX), it is blocked. In that case, let me know the site and I can verify site integrity and whitelist it (if site is clean). If you are using a download manager as well as Browser Guard, they compete for control. In that case, choose one and disable the other while you are doing the download. The image is likely showing the first type.

I have referred this to research management for their decision on how this should be handled. While waiting for their findings, here is current info: Google Analytics is blocked by all major ad blockers (including Browser Guard), and will remain blocked Google Tag Manager is blocked by three of five major ad blockers, Browser Guard being one of them. This "mixed message" is where a decision is needed. On a side note, I agree with your consultant that Browser Guard is blocking code which expands sidebar menus, display of product graphics and possibly other things which I did not notice, but other sites which use Google Tag Manager are not affected in the same way your site is. It is the way Google Tag Manager is being used, not just that it is being used. I will provide more info once that final determination is made.

Good luck. I know I didn't solve your issue, but I hope I helped you focus on a viable solution.

At a glance, it sounds like he is on the right track. You mentioned something which I think deserves mention though...I believe that functionality on a mobile device (meaning smartphone as compared to laptop computer) is beyond the scope of Browser Guard. There would be some other reason for functionality issues on a mobile device.
