  1. There is something going on.  I have just duplicated the error on two different computers using three different browsers on each.

ADDITION:  After speaking with developer, this is a short-term known issue due to resource usage on a server, and vacation for the person who can fix it.  It should be handled in early August.  AT THE SAME TIME, you will get database updates depending on server load.  The program checks every 15-20 minutes, so if it fails this time, it likely will not next time.  There are not voluminous updates each time, so it is an inconvenience at best.

  2. These are reported periodically when there is an interruption in the path anywhere from your computer to the server responsible for providing the update.  It should always recover immediately.  If it does not, there is an issue to be dealt with.

Your log is showing a high likelihood of a corrupted database.  Please try the "Check for DB updates" process again and see what the result is.  If you still have the problem, do the Factory Reset available on the Browser Guard Settings page, then check for updates again.  Please let me know your findings.

  3. How are you blocked?  I am not blocked in either Chrome or Firefox and was rather surprised to get files downloaded from an HTTP site.

  4. It has been unblocked, but you should probably tone down the aggressiveness of your use of notifications.  We block those because they are a common behavior pattern of malware designed to scare users into acting before thinking.  Now that browser vendors are becoming more proactive in protecting users, they will likely start to block this behavior themselves.  When that happens, we will not be able to fix it.....that is up to the people who write the code and run the websites.

  5. If there is a connectivity problem with the database server in the cloud, you could get an error.  Same if a database download gets corrupted.  Same also if integration of the database with your existing database gets munged.  The good thing is that it is no longer happening.

  6. I just confirmed the behavior you mentioned.  The VPN pipe is going through a server that is also used by another user for malicious purposes - or it is a false positive.  It was mentioned earlier that malware is being hosted on this server as well.  As I mentioned, there is a lot more to the internet than what most of us are aware of.  This is a perfect example.  I will refer this thread to the Product Manager for the VPN so he can look into it further.

  7. You are very likely in good shape.  You were using the VPN as your network connection, and the site you were on (or if on a Google search, a site that they showed) was on the IP address that was blocked.  The fact that it was blocked is a good thing, because whatever is there was prevented from becoming part of your world.  As a reference, many IP addresses provide service for multiple websites AND there are as many (or more) internet resources that have nothing to do with websites.  The internet is a much larger place than most people think, so a good protection product is essential.  As long as the bad guy was blocked, you're okay.

  8. Perhaps the block is of an indirect nature.  When you get blocked, click on the Browser Guard icon and see if anything shows up with a red spider,  If so, that is something being blocked because it is supposedly malicious.  You can also go into Browser Guard's Support tab, download Browser Guard Debug Log and attach it to your reply here.  Maybe that will yield some usable information.

  9. Congratulations!  You found something we don't have a good answer for...yet.  Because there is no URL associated with this text string, there is nothing we can work with.  The developer has created a defect so that we can come up with a proper solution.  In the meantime, what I would suggest is:

    1. In Browser Guard settings, turn off all protection settings temporarily
    2. Download the Bookmarklet file as you tried to do earlier and process it as it requires
    3. Turn on Browser Guard's protection settings again

This will allow you to do what you need to do with only a brief lack of coverage with Browser Guard.

  10. The secure URL you have referred to is either incorrect or does not have a valid certificate to allow that communication to occur.  Additionally, attempts to go to widex.pro redirect to widexpro.com.  I cannot say authoritatively that is correct behavior, so we need more from you in order to know how to proceed,

  11. I just went to rei.com and got 7 tracker hits.  cnn.com gave me another 7.  That is on a Windows 11 computer that also uses Malwarebytes Business.  My second computer (Windows 10 and Malwarebytes Consumer) has the same results.

Until we get this figured out, please uninstall (or completely disable) Ublock Origin so that we are not seeing any potential interactions between the two similar products.  After doing that, make sure your settings are all correct, and go to the two sites I mentioned in the last paragraph.  The reason I am saying to go there is that YouTube will have heuristic blocks, which may or may not appear.  There are also reports that Facebook may have altered their ad integration code, which may affect our ability to block it for the time being.  In a nutshell, these two are fuzzy, while the two I mentioned (rei and cnn) are pretty reliable.

After you go to those sites. please let me know your results AND send me a Browser Guard log so I can inspect it.
