  1. That would be a question for Technical Support.  Open a ticket with them and tell them all of the email addresses you have used to purchase the product, and they'll be able to check for you.

  2. Too bad they don't make stuff like that anymore. We're too hip/urban for that now days I guess. Now it's drop your pants a foot down below the bottom of your butt and swagger around like you're God's gift to mankind and use the most vulgar language possible and claim you're an entertainer.

Being a plumber is cool now?

  3. John,

The premium version of the product has changed from a lifetime license to an annual subscription.  The subscription is good for three computers.  Some people are upset about this, and some recognize that the value provided is well worth the cost.  Having had to deal with "cooties" in the past, I know how much time and energy I spent trying to get my computer back into proper working condition, AND what I could have been doing instead.  That's a determination you need to make for yourself, and my opinion may mean nothing.

This posting may end up being moved elsewhere...I don't know how to do that properly, so I don't want to leave debris for someone else to clean up.  Posting a new topic is the best thing to do if your subject is not directly related to the poster before you.

  4. Sometimes, Malwarebytes will have issues with other programs that can be remedied by adding the "offending" program to Malwarebytes' Ignore List (on 2.0, its called Malware Exclusions).  Don't add something just because you're tired of seeing it...add it only if you trust it.  I think you can trust avp.exe because it is Kaspersky's executable.  If Kaspersky has problems with Malwarebytes, there is likely an ignore list in its interface as well, though I do not know the proper name for it.

Skype lets you talk to anybody anywhere because it is using peer-to-peer technology.  It will use bandwidth from any computer running Skype to maintain a path to send packets from source to destination.  In this case, a packet is a tiny piece of your chat/text.  A computer used for Skype could also be on a list of computers known for spam or malware, which would trigger that warning if packets came from that computer.  Skype will find an alternate path to use if it cannot complete its task using the original path.

Based on what you have said here, I don't think there's any cause for alarm.

  5. I don't think you can edit until you get to 100 posts.  "AdvancedSetup" can confirm or deny if he's lurking.

I just set logging to go to a shared network drive.  I had to do it explicitly because it would not appear on the Advanced Scheduling Explorer-like dialog.  The log went to my default log directory.

Then I set logging to go to a USB thumb drive.  It did appear in the Explorer-like dialog, and I selected it that way.  The log went to my default log directory again.

I'll send a link to this forum post so QA can check to see if this is an existing bug or not.  Thanks for the information!

  6. Hello Anne & John,

I can't speak as an authority, but only to provide a bit more insight.  I have had refurb computers where the power supply provided enough power for a standard configuration, but not by much.  If a power supply is marginal or is stressed, it may shut down and cause an immediate shutdown.  I can't say that happened here, but it has happened to me in the past.  I checked the rating on my power supply, shook my head in disbelief, and bought one that provided more than enough power.  If you have added any components, or run the computer under warmer conditions, OR in a poorly-ventilated area (which causes it to run hotter), that's worth checking.  I hope it was a one-time event.  Good luck!

  7. Hello,

MBAR is complementary with Avast, as well as also being compatible.  Its very possible that Avast would detect MBAR as a rootkit, because MBAR would need to be able to mimic rootkit behavior to be able to successfully detect and eliminate any rootkits it does find.  If you do have conflicts, Avast will allow you to set exclusions so that it overlooks any file(s) or directories that you specify to be excluded.  You should either set exclusions before running MBAR for the first time, or make sure that Avast does not automatically delete any detected threats...have it get your approval first.

As far as either product being fixed, both Avast and MBAR should report threats that they detect.  If one or the other didn't, I would be looking for a fix.  They're okay.

    Hope this helps!

  8. Mike,

Thank you for your comments.  Here's a definition of whitelist, straight from the mythical guide.....

Whitelist is a list of apps considered suspicious based on scan results by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Mobile, but have been specifically whitelisted by the user.  If an app is listed here, it is deemed safe.  If it is considered risky, press on the app’s name to select it, then press Delete.  To clear all entries from the Whitelist, press Select All followed by Delete.  Once an app has been added to the Whitelist, it will remain there until it is deleted from the Whitelist, or if its signature changes.  A signature change indicates a possible change in app behavior.

The guide you are asking for is in process now.  Because I feel the same way as you do regarding system/program documentation, I write them.  This one is not quite ready for prime time yet, but it will be soon.  If you want to make sure you get one sent to you without needing to check back on a regular basis, drop me a private message and I'll make sure to send one out as soon as its ready.

    Thanks for choosing Malwarebytes!

  9. I have good news for you, if you don't mind waiting a few days (plus or minus).  We have identified a problem that matches the behavior you describe, and developers are working on a fix for it.  Once they are complete, QA testing will be necessary to make sure everything works as expected for all supported devices.  At that point, an update will be available that will solve the problem.  I can't give you a specific date that it will be available, but it will be soon.  Thanks for your patience!

  10. Hello,

I have checked with other support members, and we have not seen this issue yet.  Based on that, we would like to gather more information to try to narrow this down.  Could you please check the specific OS version you are using on your Galaxy phone.  To do that, do the following:

    • Click the bottom left menu button
    • Select Settings
    • Click the More tab
    • Press About Phone.  The OS version will be listed under Android version.

Also, could you please provide a list of other apps that you have installed on your phone.  Hopefully, we'll get this figured out quickly.  I'll be watching for your reply!
