  1. You are correct. I was already on version 4.1 of Malwarebytes. I wish that rather than shutting down Malwarebytes completely I had tried turning off the individual protections one at a time. That might have given you folks a bit more to go on as far as where to look for the issue.

  3. Solution to 1Password updates not completing: Whitelist the 1Password directory with Malwarebytes. You can find the 1Password directory at C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\1password. If you need the full path, open 1Password and go to the Help Menu > Troubleshooting > Reveal 1Password directory in Explorer.
  4. I use a password program called 1Password. It checks for updates and then updates the program. It only does this when it is in the "locked" state. Came back to my laptop this afternoon to find a window/screen advising that the 1Password update could not be completed and to check if any browsers were active. They were not. I quit Malwarebytes and 1Password finished the update. Not sure what to add to the "allow" list in Malwarebytes to have this not happen again. If one of the developers could advise, that would be great. Just as a side note, that "allow" list in V4 has certainly grown to something way beyond anything I ever needed to do in V3.
  5. Porthos, I found this on the Windows 10 Forums regarding this very issue: If you get this issue (Macrium Reflect slowdown), it's real easy to fix. Two entries in the MBAM exception list: 1) Program Files\Macrium (as a folder) 2) Program Data\Macrium (as a folder, the Service is in here) I'll end up adding the folders above until such time as there is a fix.
  6. Porthos, as far as issues, just a few minor items that I've seen posted here as well. Firefox tends to be slower with internet connection drops at least a couple of time a day. I also use Macrium Reflect for image backups (weekly full/daily differential) and the time to perform either a full or differential image has increased by at least 50%. All of this is reproducible by turning Malwarebytes on/off. Again, so far none of these issues have caused me to revert to V3, but it has been on my mind. In closing let me say that I have been a Malwarebytes Pro (along side Windows Defender as my only other protection) customer for longer than I can remember and have gone through these version updates in the past. In the end, the Malwarebytes developers (and those like yourself who help us users on this forum) get issues identified and resolved. I'm sure that will happen in the case of V4 as well.
  7. I've had a few issues with version 4 (few solved, a couple not) and I've been following the posts here on a regular basis. In the end, many of the responses suggest reverting back to V3. If one does in fact make the decision revert back to V3 (and turns off the reminders to upgrade) how long will V3 be supported and will that support (updates) include the most recent threat protections?

  10. I have an elevated cmd prompt that clears the Windows 10 Event Viewer Log. It has worked perfectly for years, takes less than 30 seconds to run. Since the release of the latest version of Malwarebytes this function has slowed down noticeably as it now takes a couple of minutes to run. It functions perfectly again if I exit Malwarebytes. Once I pinpointed that, I started to turn off the individual protections to see which one of them was the issue. Found that it's the "Ransomware Protection" that is causing the issue. The issue is reproducible. Turn it on and cmd prompts run slow, turn if off and cmd prompts again run quickly. This was not an issue prior to the latest update (4.0.49/1.0.17531/1.0.793). I can live with the cmd slowdown, but it would be nice to fix this issue.

  12. Latest version took care of the Xmarks issue. The scan report is below. Is there any way to tell what the two files are? Does JRT put these files in a specific location, or are they just deleted (did not show up in Trash after scan).   13. Was following this topic and ended up downloading the mbam-check utility via the above posted link. Ran the utility (out of curiosity), read the report, and on the next shut down/startup Malwarebytes Anti-Malware started in the "free" version. I needed to re-enter my ID and registration code to reactivate my Pro license. Any other reports of this, or possibly this is the intended result?
  14. Thank you to both the Malwarebytes folks and Bitsum for looking into this issue. Seems that the thoughts regarding cause/effect seem to be pointing to an older (2009) machine with an outdated (painfully slow by today's standards) CPU. I'll have to address this with my wife as it is she who sets the home budgets The other security programs I have running are Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit and Windows Defender. This PC laptop obviously came new loaded with Windows 7. When I upgraded (?) to Windows 10 I did it via a "clean install" and surprisingly, the performance (startup, launching applications, shut down, etc.) became better, so I stuck with the Win 10 install. For the things i use this laptop for, surfing the web with morning coffee and running the few RC hobby programs that I do, it seems to work. So possibly, what we have here is a very isolated case, that can be resolved by a hardware upgrade and that does not warrant too much additional attention. Both Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and Process Lasso have both worked flawlessly on this machine under both Win 7 and Win 10 and I'm grateful for the attention my "issue" was given. Unless additional information is requested I will consider the issue at least "identified" if not totally resolved.

  16. I continue to be concerned about this conflict with Process Lasso once the Anti-Ransomware product gets rolled into Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Seeing how it is relatively easy for me to revert my system to a prior state, I would be willing to reinstall the Anti-Rasomware beta and test further. What I would need prior to installing (from both Bitsum and Malwarebytes) is an exact list of files/logs/etc. that could possible help in the investigation of the issue. I use my PC laptop mostly for support of a hobby (RC flight) and would not be able to leave the beta installed for much longer than a couple of days (assuming the issue persists) as I use the hobby support application on it on a daily basis. I'll wait to hear back.
  17. Sorry, but although the directory is there C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\Logs it only contains logs for Anti-Maleware. There is a second directory for Anti-Exploit but there are no log files in that folder. Sorry. I'm not surprised though. It is my habit, prior to installing any software, especially beta, to make a backup image (I use Macrium Reflect) of my hard drive. If things go wrong, rather than going through an uninstall (at times not everything truly gets uninstalled) I just re-image my hard drive with the backup.

  19. In the time that has passed I have removed MAR Beta and kept Process Lasso Pro. My concern is what happens when Anti-Ransom is rolled into Anti-Malware.   20. Spoke too soon. The issue seems repeatable. I can now turn Malwarebytes Anti-Ramsomware on/off via the task bar icon (right click) and with each "on" of Malwarebytes Anti-Ramsomware CPU load goes to 100% with Process Lasso Pro taking the lions share, and with each "off" of Malwarebytes Anti-Ramsomware the CPU load goes to nil, with Process Lasso Pro at near zero CPU load.
  21. Need to add that once I quit Malwarebytes Anti-Ramsomware I was not able to restart it via the task bar icon. A restart seemed to do the trick and now with Malwarebytes Anti-Ramsomware running, Process Lasso Pro has settled back down to normal. Possibly this was just a one time issue (after initial install) and a reboot has fixed whatever issues I was having.
  22. I am running Process Lasso Pro and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro on a Windows 10 Toshiba laptop. The high CPU usage is coming from Process Lasso Pro when Malwarebytes Anti-Ramsomware is running (active). As soon as I exit Malwarebytes Anti-Ramsomware the CPU usage for Process Lasso Pro drops to nil. As soon as restart Malwarebytes Anti-Ramsomware, Process Lasso Pro CPU usage goes back up to a very high level. Any prior reports of this?
  23. I've read the posts about FreeFileSync and the issue that Malwarebytes is not picking up the OpenCandy. This case is different. If you "donate" to the group which maintains FreeFileSync they send you a link to download the program without advertizing and free of OpenCandy. I downloaded the file and (twice) Malwarebytes would stop the installation. I had the file checked on VirusTotal and it is indeed clean (see attached). How do I get the program installed? Thanks.
  24. Today, after running JRT 8.0.6 I had to reinstall Xmarks in Firefox. Not an IT type so I don't know if this was a chance issue or caused by running JRT.   25. Exile, You are correct, it is the "but currently under certain conditions when the scan starts, the main UI will pop up" that I'm looking to stop. If it's a known bug that will be corrected . . . great!
