  1. OK, I will get it checked out and see what is said. I have just made a donation, which I hope is adequate. I think I have taken up enough of your time, so unless you need me to try anything else, thanks for your help and advice & take it easy.
  2. No bluescreen that I have seen, just shuts itself down; maybe the fan has now failed, as it gives out a lot of heat? I am going to get a new laptop anyway and have backed up the essentials, as it seems like there isn't much life left in the current one. The only positive this week is that it has booted up again quite quickly, once it has cooled down - I don't have to keep trying for two days at a time! What are your thoughts?
  3. Update: laptop crashed (overheated from being continuously on, I think); when I rebooted, I managed to get it into Safe Mode! I tried to run the Fujitsu diagnostic that I couldn't before & it is still the same - it will not run. I now seem to have the opportunity to run safe mode again, so is there something I should do while in this mode?
  4. Hi, I ran the scan but when I returned later and it had finished, there wasn't any report and it hadn't asked me for the installation disk; I presume it didn't find any problems?
  5. Hi, Sorry, been a bit busy! I will have time this week-end & will let you know how it goes.
  6. Just to let you know, I hope to be able to complete backups & system file check in the next couple of days. I will report back after I have finished. Cheers.
  7. A system file check could help, if you wouldn't mind telling me the best way to go about it. Ultimately though, I think it is a write-off & will do a back-up of as much as possible; I am worried that it will eventually shut down and not reboot again! Is there anything specific I should remember to include, other than all users documents/photos etc? Thanks for your help so far, you have been extremely patient & helpful & I will make a donation to show my appreciation shortly.
  8. Basically, it is a blank screen and doesn't do anything except continually try to start up, including the cd / dvd drive. When it did finally boot up this time, after trying for two days, it would not go into safe mode. I will back everything up in case it doesn't improve. It still will not run the hard disk diagnostic, so is there anything else you suggest I should do or is it a write-off long term?
  9. Hi, Just to let you know - I have not managed to get rebooted yet but still trying!
  10. Unfortunately, the diagnostic does not run, although a message flashes up briefly 'Scanning new drives now, please wait'. No progress is made on the scan, either on Total Test or Test Progress but I do not understand why. Even this didn't happen the first time, so I think I have now installed the ASPI driver correctly.
  11. Is it the wnaspi32.dl_ file that I install?
  12. Do I have to reboot, as starting up is where I have ben having trouble?!
  13. I have run SystemLook, log is below. The Toshiba scan does not seem to run though, not sure if I am doing anything wrong?
