  1. Utorrent 2.1 is the LAST version that isn't bundleware, hence why I've used it. The following versions are bundleware. I did however install Qbtorrent and it is fast. So this ends up being a non-issue, best as I can tell. As for Snappy, there are some drivers that have flaws. For example, Nvidia has a history of this, being exposed by the Nvidia community before releasing a fix shortly thereafter, like a week later. Snappy gives me a list of multiple versions of drivers, noting which ones are considered a "better match" vs just the latest. Hence why I like it. Also, some drivers don't have any specific download source and Windows Update will NOT offer the latest drivers. I've seen Windows drivers well over 10 years old, even in version 22H2. Maybe older drivers don't matter for some things, IDK.
  2. I am trying to use Utorrent to download the full, offline version of the Snappy Driver utility which can only be downloaded via a torrent client. But despite adding Utorrent to the exclusion list MB keeps quarantining it, calling it "bundleware" . It is NOT bundled with anything. I get that it blocks the P2P IPs it (and Snappy) sometimes connects to, but to quarantine the whole program regardless of my settings seems like a mistake. I do use a very old version of Utorrent, 2.1, vs more modern versions which are notorious for installing spyware, etc. and it has worked beautifully since that version came out. MB doesn't have a problem with it on my other computer. What should I do? Thanks
  3. No, I did not reinstall Windows. However, I did a DISM repair though since the last time we chatted. I'm pretty sure that AdwCleaner solved the "Powershell issue" that I mentioned above when it detected and got rid of Advanced System Care by Iobit (the same company that copied Malwarebytes bit for bit a few years ago). I had their program IobitUninstaller installed (it was actually useful) but today it installed that piece of garbage without even asking me. When I found out I immediately blocked IobitUninstaller via Windows Firewall so it couldn't access the internet anymore. It seems quite apparent that Advance System Care was using Powershell to contact their EU server because I am not getting the "Website Blocked" notice anymore after AdwCleaner got rid of it. Thanks for putting up with me. 😁 Addition.txt FRST.txt AdwCleaner[C00].txt Jan 9 scan results.txt
  4. C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0 I scanned the folder and Malwarebytes said that it was clean, but Malwarebytes has to keep blocking the same IP address from it. Shall I just delete the darn folder or is there better option? Thanks.
  5. One more thing, you alluded to MS approved software. Could you please provide me a link to their list if there is one? Thanks!
  6. I fully stopped the reinfections by deleting a folder called "Extension" in my Chrome profile. I'm 100% certain that folder was NOT created by Chrome as the correct folder name is "Extensions", plural. MB has not picked up one trace of injections or infections since. BTW I was mistaken that MB was causing an error that made my system appear to be an older system. The same thing happened the next day when I removed just the files manually. Deleting the folder was the answer all along. No such error this time around. Fingers crossed. 🤞 I will certainly take your advice regarding the AIO Repair software, even though the developer has kindly given me personal attention since the old days. I have had a similar experience with the people at Bitsum. You really opened my eyes about how damaging that software can be when carelessly accepting some of the "repairs" it uses. Such a shame as I have relied on that software for years. Back in September I did a DISM repair using an official Windows 10 ISO that I extracted the install.wim from that fixed all of the problems I was having at the time. No fresh install required. But just in case I do end performing a clean install, I can back up important software and settings (including licenses) so I can get everything running exactly as they were setup originally using EaseUS PCTrans (pricey, but subscribing for one month isn't going to kill me). It's amazing how well it works, but maybe you know of a cheaper program that does the same thing? 🤔 Right now my system is really stable after dealing with the Chrome infections, other than a few programs not starting up with Windows even though they all show as enabled. I am considering upgrading to Windows 11 and I assume it's going to do a good job fixing any issues that I haven't noticed yet. But a clean install is always a good option. Thank you the advice you've given me! ❤️️
  7. Oh, and enjoy your vacation!! I really wish we could edit our posts but I don't see the option.
  8. Shane Croft, who created that app, is one of the most advanced Windows experts I've ever run across. Though I'm sure Malwarebytes has the very best in the world, of course. ❤️️ He even designed a few utitlities at my personal request before things got super busy for him. I'm sure he is well aware of any changes to Windows 10 as he updates his app quite frequently. 4 times this year, 12 times last year! I will ask him for an answer about this though as it is an important issue to address.
  9. I see that the support tool is using the FRST app, whose logs I uploaded to another thread where I was having a strange delicensing problem. I'll upload the one that the MB Support tool just created. Anyway, instead of letting Malwarebytes remove the files, I deleted all 3 folders they were found in myself, rebooted, and everything is like it should be. I'm considering going back again to my Windows backup and letting a slightly older version of Malwarebytes remove the files to see if the issue of Windows 10 not being recognized happens then. It's a lot of work troubleshooting as an end user, so I can't imagine what you guys have to deal with. mbst-grab-results.zip
  10. Okay, after letting Malwarebytes remove those Chrome infections, every single application on my computer that only runs on Windows 10 thinks that I am not running Windows 10 and will not run! This happens immediately after I let Malwarebytes reboot my PC to finish cleaning the browser infections. I've duplicated this issue twice more now after going back and forth to this morning's Macrium Reflect backup. Malwarebytes is causing this to happen. There is no other explanation This is a major, probably very recent issue with the newest version of Malwarebytes that needs looking into. I don't think it's safe to continue using it until this is resolved. I'm gong to revert to an earlier version in the meantime. Here are the l FRST files. FRST.txt
  11. Is there a known Chrome extension doing this? I know Google recently had to remove several extensions from the store.I also saw this happen with MS Edge even though I hadn't run it recently, but that only happened once a few weeks ago. It has NOT happened with Brave Browser nor Firefox, though it is stil version 52.3 ESR which is as high of a version I wil ever go. Reasons. :) But it's happening every single day only with Chrome. Sorry this looks so messy but I couldn't figure out how format the stuff below so it looks cleaner.
  12. It just says 2 devices but it doesn't let me delicense them, so doing so from my account page doesn't seem to be an option for some reason. I reverted to a Macrium Refect backup temporarily and the license is still intact on that backed-up version. It's so weird that the system version I reverted from had mysteriously reverted to the free version, so there was no option to Deactivate it there. So I'm decactivating on this version via Malwarebytes Account tab so that I can go back to my latest Windows install and reactivate it there. Also, regarding log files I tried to use the support tool, which said that the log was saved to my desktop, but it's nowhere to be found there, so not able to upload a log file. I tried it 3 times.
  13. There was no way to edit the post, so here is one more thing. I did Tweaking.com All in One Repair and one of the repairs was repairing the Windows hosts file. Could that cause such an issue? Here's what's in it
  14. It required a restart to update to a new version, but it reverted to the free version after the restart. I don't want to use up yet another one of my 3 licenses remaining to reactivate it on the same system again. I thought one of the log files would have some info on what happened, but those only show scan history, not installation or licensing data. I can't exactly delicense it on this system since it already unlicensed itself for no apparent reason. What should I do to avoid using up another of my remaining system licenses? Thanks.
  15. I really misunderstood what deactivating was. So if I understand correctly, I don't lose that one device license if I simply deactivate it, do the new OS then reactivated. But what about transferring my whole existing OS system the new hard drive? I use Macrium Reflect for that sort of stuff. Thanks!
  16. I bought a 3 device licence off of Newegg and I am wondering if refreshing/nenewing my system the Windows 10 way) or changing the hard drive (I just bought a very high-end NVME drive I am moving my OS to) it would end up counting as a new device. You've no idea how often I reinstall Windows because I have been, being super OCD about a pefrect OS install, experimenting with Windows mods for decands. I am just worried about losing one of the three devices I'm allowed to install Malwarebytes Premium on if I do anything like stated above. Well, I am definitely installing the new hard drive soon. Thanks.
  17. Decided to test out the latest version of Malwarebytes and I realized I couldn't disable notifcations about specific events like IP Blocking. Instead, it's just a one size fits all disable option. It would be better if there were separate notification options for system threats and malicious websites. Yet another tweak would be helpful: An option to disable notifications about the same IP address.. For example, I'm using Utorrent and Malwarebytes has popped up the same notification about the same ip address every 10 seconds or so for the last HOUR and a half! Since Malwarebytes has already decided to block an IP that I want blocked it's redundant to notify me about the same IP ad infinitum ad nauseam. Additionally, I'm running a fullscreen program and that notifcation is blocked part of my view. Thanks for considering my suggeston.
  18. Well, no way to edit my post above, so sorry for the double post. Turns out that unicows.dll is only needed for Windows 98 and below. It is not needed for anything newer than Windows 98. The developer claims that the current version of Atlantis does not install this dll file, but it most certainly does.
  19. That seems a pity, as the program keeps telling me every single day that unicows.dll is a trojan packer. It's actually a dll file that belongs to a legitimate copy of Atlantis Word Processor. This file has been brought up long ago, but it's still triggering a false positive. I've yet to get an infection using Malwarebytes, but it's annoying that it doesn't remember I selected ignore unicows.dll.
