  1. Ok. I guess we're all set then. Thank you again for your help. I really appreciate it. Jetter
  2. So, I have done these steps. I feel that I should mention that immediately after running Adwcleaner and selecting the two WildTangent entries of preinstalled software to be quarantined and then rebooting, the pc started to get some pep in it's step. Also no lost internet connection as yet. AdwCleaner[C02].txt SecurityCheck.txt
  3. It seems pretty good for the most part. Not quite as snappy as my own device but, then again, I paid for an i7 and he only paid for an i3 so maybe that makes a difference. One thing that I have noticed since the fix though is that it keeps dropping the internet connection to my router which is only about 12 feet away while my own laptop is a couple of feet further and never drops the connection. Also, getting pop up alerts now that some of his yahoo stuff is not up to date. Something that he can just update on his own now I presume.
  4. Thank you for your help Maurice. Webroot shows that it last scanned this pc one day ago. User says that he did not knowingly set a proxy server for this system. msert.log

  11. Hello and thank you for being here and helping. So, I've had this HP laptop for a few years now. It's a pretty good pc. Good specs and have never had a problem with it until now. Last night it froze up on me to where I had to press and hold the power button to shut it down and restart it. It happened again this morning. I am using it now to post here and it seems to be working ok at the moment. I feel that I should mention that just before the first freeze happened I was on a project of transferring all of the data from a bunch of flash drives to this laptop in order to organize all of the data on them. The first few sticks went ok but when I got to one of them I started to get errors about corrupted files or a corrupted file and then the drive would become "not recognized" by Windows anymore. I have to wonder if that corrupted file had an effect on my laptop somehow. Just a gut feeling; I could be wrong. Anyway, I will attach the logs from the tools that I have run so far and would greatly appreciate it if you could check to see if you spot anything amiss. If you need me to do anything to help you, just let me know. Thank you very much. Jeter mbam_scan_3_31_2022.txt FRST.txt Addition.txt AdwCleaner[S01].txt

  16. Hello and thank you for the help that you provide here. It is greatly appreciated. I am on a desktop pc running Windows 7 that my fiancee was using here, in the house, until she passed away last week. I got on the computer today to search for some pictures to use at her memorial and noticed that it was acting strangely. Specifically, When I boot it up sometimes it has an internet connection and sometimes it doesn't until I reboot it again. Also, sometimes when I boot it up the cursor will not move with the mouse until I reboot it again. Sometimes when I try to open firefox it doesn't open but when I open Task Manager it shows many instances of firefox.exe running and won't let me close them. Just lots of little quirks. I have Malwarebytes Premium on this pc and on my laptop. Can someone please advise me on how to check out this pc? I can provide a Malwarebytes log or a FRST log or whatever you think would help. Just let me know what I need to do to get cleaned up so I can use this computer. Thank you once again.
  17. Thank you very much for your assistance. The laptop seems to be running okay. Fixlog.txt
  18. Hello and thank you for your assistance. I have a friend who needs to get his laptop running well for first year of college this year. The Acer laptop is kind of slow and buggy. I wanted to check it for malware infections and I know that this is a place I can trust for that. I appreciate any help you can give us. mbam_scan_1.txt FRST.txt Addition.txt
  19. Mom has said that she has no personal data stored on this pc so she has no problem with a reformat and reinstall so, I think that is what we will do. I thank you very much for the time, the effort, and the advice that you have given us. A donation follows.
  20. Thank you and I am sorry for the delay. Had to work at both of my jobs all weekend. No noticeable change in the pc. still can't access Start menu or get to any settings or directories. Using firefox to post. When I try to open Internet Explorer I get a pop-up that says, "explorer.exe" and then, "Class not registered". I have not tried to boot into safe mode and see if it works better from there. Here is the Fixlog.txt Fixlog.txt
