  1. I should have sought your advice before I got to this point. Luckily, I have my laptop as backup which is apparently unaffected by what is going on with the desktop. I think I'll go to bed now. Thanks again for your assistance.
  2. I have a Dell desktop computer that is several years old. I started having issues with internet searches being redirected. I found that somewhere along the line, a bunch of malware programs got installed on the PC such as yontoo, wambah(?) and others. I thought I had deleted all the files and add-ons but especially with yontoo, I kept finding files that the search feature did not find even though they were named "yontoo". Long story short, I tried to reboot in safe mode with F8 but it did not work. So I read that I could change the boot up instructions through msconfig and I reset the startup to boot safe mode (minimal). Now when I try to boot the machine, the motor comes on but nothing happens. Black screen with no cursor. Doesn't appear to doing anything but running the motor. I created a recovery disk from another computer and tried booting that way, but no go. I'm running Windows 7. Anyone have any idea where I go from here?
  3. Sorry. My brain is fried from trying to fix the problem with the desktop. I reposted in the malware removal section. Thanks
  4. I followed the link but since I cannot boot my desktop, I cannot follow any of the the instructions for the free stuff. contained in the links. Thanks anyway.
