  1. Hello malware destroyer You could be infected, so please read and follow the directions below so that someone can check your system out and determine if you are infected, and if you are not, help you figure out why the issues may be occuring. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help. If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you. After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. Thank you
  2. To add onto what gtyhfy said, if you would first like to try to run Mbam on the infected system, burn the Mbam setup to CD if you are able to (name it something like mjvh.com or something when downloading (instead of run, hit save when the file begins its download and then you can choose what you'd like to name the file). Otherwise, you may transfer to a flash drive instead. Then, please follow Issue #4 at this link here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...ost&p=49525 If you need any assistance with that, I will do my best to help you out If you do need assistance with that, please tell me what your OS is (XP, Vista, 7). If any issues remain after running Mbam or if you can't get Mbam to run still, please follow gtyhfy's directions above As a side note, please use the "ADD REPLY" button located at the bottom of the page when replying. Thanks
  3. askankman, What are you using for an AntiVirus program? You may need to add some exclusions to your AV for Mbam if you are experiencing system slowdowns.
  4. That would be cool, if its feasible.
  5. Thanks Buttons, if I need some buttons, I know where to go! From a quick look, they have some quite awesome buttons to boot! Like this really cool Apple button: http://www.buttons.com/Item_Results.asp?Style=24721 Oh and fishy: http://www.buttons.com/Item_Results.asp?Style=23060
  6. You're welcome, giofio Excellent! The more samples the Mbam team gets, the better!
  7. No problem! Don't hesitate to post if you need any further assistance or if you have any other questions
  8. Hello stymie and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Have you added exclusions for Malwarebytes to your Norton? Please see here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?a...&pid=215158 And also here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?a...&pid=167851 Please see here on how to use the scheduler: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=45177 As for the Malwarebytes update and scanner settings, its up to you. Typically there are multiple updates a day. So you could choose hourly (Malwarebytes will check for updates hourly), realtime (will be updated as they come out), daily (Malwarebytes will check once a day for updates at the time you choose), or one of the other options. As for the scanner, since the quick scan does not take much time, many people choose to scan daily. Others scan once a week or a couple times a week. It's all up to you. My personal preference is manual Malwarebytes updates and manual (once a week or a couple times a week) scans. As a side note, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button located at the bottom of the page when replying. Thank you
  9. Greetings, giofio, and welcome You must be a member of the Malware Hunters, Rogue Reporters, or in Experts or above group in order to download attachments in the research center. This is to prevent users from accidentally getting infected. If you contribute regularly with new malware samples, then you may be added to the Malware Hunters group. I hope that this answered your question!! As a side note, please use the "ADD REPLY" button located at the bottom of the page when replying.
  10. Hello PowerPenguin I am happy to hear that your updating and rules.ref issue has been resolved!! Please do follow gtyhfy's directions above
  11. Hello Might I also add that it is good practice to temporarily disable your AVG whilst installing Malwarebytes My AV also pops up with a "suspicious driver" alert when I install Mbam if I forget to temporarily disable it. It's just due to the nature of the drivers. Malwarebytes is obviously not malicious As a side note, please use the ADD REPLY button located at the bottom of the page when replying.
  12. jamjar, It is definitely good practice to do that, yes! I usually do that when I am (I do a clean install) installing a new version of Malwarebytes or if I have to re-install for any reason. You're welcome Okay, cool. MSE and the free version of Malwarebytes on XP get along just fine as far as I know. I was going to say, if you have the paid version (which is why I asked what your OS was) you should refer to this guide here to add exclusions to MSE for Mbam as the realtime version of Mbam and MSE in realtime together on XP do often conflict. So if you ever DO get the paid version of Malwarebytes (and I do highly recommend getting it if you can, I have been using it myself for about a year now and I will never go without it again!), just refer to that guide I linked you to above for MSE. As a side note, please use the "ADD REPLY" button located at the bottom of the page instead of quoting everything.
  13. Hi jamjar, It wouldn't hurt to do so, just don't forget to re-enable MSE's realtime protection once Malwarebytes is installed What OS are you running? And are you running Malwarebytes in realtime (paid version)?
  14. lol its okay! If you have indeed wiped your computer clean (reformatted) then the ID & Key should work just fine on your new computer
  15. Ack! You guys are boggling my mind!
  16. Sure Leila, Just let me know when you're ready! I'll be offline for a while soon but I'll be back on later this evening
  17. You're welcome! I've been using the paid version for almost a year now, and I will never go without it again, it's fabulous!! It certainly does offer you excellent protection well HostsMan incorporates MVPS hosts and offers additional lists for protection. If you're interested, I'll start a new thread in the PC Help forum where I can assist you in installing it Just a side note, please use the ADD REPLY button at the bottom of the page, no need to quote everything someone you are replying to said
  18. Hi Leila! I'm glad that Maniac was able to get you all cleaned up MVPS hosts would be a great idea. Infact, HostsMan would be a great idea to further enhance the security of your internet experience. I have it on my system. I can help you get it onto yours if you'd like Are you using the paid version of Malwarebytes? I don't really have any firewall recommendations at the moment but I am sure that someone else will be able to help you with that
  19. Yes but unfortunately they have a shady history, check out the blog entries in the second link that YoKenny1 posted. In MY personal opinion, they've already tainted themselves and don't seem like they are cleaning up their act none too quickly
  20. Hello wxtrendsguy, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Sounds like you may have some nasty burying itself in your system Also, you didn't mention an anti-virus program as something that you scanned your system with; I hope that you have one.
