  1. Excellent point, Goldhound. I think that WOT has its uses, but I wouldn't use it as an add-on, personally. I do have the site bookmarked to check websites if I want to, though.
  2. Well I don't have a 64 bit system unfortunately but I know that Exile360 does and he uses Kaspersky and it works just fine for him
  3. I purchased my KAV in the box at a retail store & I was happy to find that they had one for just 1 machine (this does not appear to be available online), which is all I need it for currently. I plan to purchase it in the box again when I need to renew my license It was only $40.
  4. hehe well here is an official welcome from me Volvo's are pretty cool... I drove one for about a year. However I have to say my favorites are Volkswagen (particularly the Beetle) and the Corvette.
  5. I don't use KIS, DaleDoc, but I do use KAV 20011, and it works beautifully with Mbam pro
  6. Ohh, okay. I was just confused by what you said in your post just before this one. I think I am clear now
  7. Thanks for the confirmation, Alex But wait, I have the newest version of KAV and the screen shot that I attached is what I see on my settings...
  8. @IDKWatMyDisplayNameShoudBe Thank you, but I am happy with my Kaspersky I'll do some more research on BD sometime though when I have a bit more time As for Comodo: http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2010/06/comodo-fake-meds.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/07/comodo...re-malware.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/07/michae...-featuring.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/07/comodo...ase-oh-and.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/07/comodo...trust-saga.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/07/comodo...g-criminal.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/07/comodo...rr-malware.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/05/oh-com...e-go-again.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/05/comodo...-good-guys.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/04/softpe...ted-comodo.html http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/02/comodo...-saying-no.html http://msmvps.com/blogs/hostsnews/archive/...10/1699205.aspx

  10. The attached picture is what I have... I think that "Perform regular scan for active threats" is probably now the second item in my picture, "perform regular rootkit scan". I am not positive, though. Also, please see here: http://www.kaspersky.com/support/faq/?qid=208281836
  11. Yes, definitely, run a full scan of the newest version of KIS when you have a chance, as this does improve system performance. I still need to do this myself, since I updated my version a few weeks ago.
  12. http://hosts-file.net/ Is a great site to reference! It is the site of MysteryFCM
  13. I just think they're kinda shady, and I don't think the detection rates are all that great (last I looked into it, hopefully they've gotten better since). I can give you some links tomorrow - I am getting offline shortly.
  14. Alrighty You're welcome! Don't forget to uninstall Comodo and restart your computer before installing Kaspersky. Thanks for changing your typing style, much easier to read
  15. I know Exile360 used to use WD and Mbam paid together in realtime without conflict. I am not sure if he still uses them together though. If he comes across this thread, I'm sure he'll comment if he has anything to add
  16. Hi Larry, I believe that PC Tools also makes an AV that works on Windows 98, although in my opinion Avast! is a good choice too, so I would stick with Avast! so long as you continue to get definitions updates for your Windows 98 via Avast!. Also HostsMan (an excellent program that would enhance your security) is supposed to work on Windows 98SE (do you have the SE edition?), but I've never tried it on that operating system before: http://www.abelhadigital.com/hostsman I can do my best to assist you in setting that up on your machine if you'd like, bearing in mind that I've only installed it on XP myself and assisted people in installing it on XP (and Vista).
  17. Hi mbam daz. Not trying to be a pain but would you mind using capitals at the beginning of your sentences? And also having a space or two between your period at the end of sentences and the beginning of your new sentences? That'll make your posts much easier to read. Thanks So yes - Comodo has been involved in some shady behavior to say the least, and that has tarnished them in my opinion and I would not use them or recommend that anyone else use them as a result... plus they don't have very good detection rates last I looked into it (hopefully the detection rates have improved since I last checked but I don't know). As for Kaspersky being a resource hog, it has been in the past. Right now it is behaving very well on my system (and I did have some struggles with it before) despite me only having 512 MB of RAM. So in my opinion, it is really not much of a resource hog at all
  18. @mbam daz. Yeah, I'm personally not a fan of Comodo... mostly for the reasons you stated and then some... plus I had a huge pain removing it from a machine due to a broken installation (granted, that wasn't necessarily Comodo's fault) and that annoyed me of course... I use Kaspersky (after being a long-time AVG user, also have used Norton and McAfee in the past) and I love it! Let me know if you have any questions about Kaspersky! I'll do my best to help!
  19. @mbam daz. Kaspersky is totally awesome What OS are you running?
  20. @IDKWatMyDisplayNameShoudBe I think remixed meant disable automatic updates of KIS, not Windows itself. Also, please please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page when replying... makes things easier to read
  21. Just to add onto DaleDoc's excellent response, pretty much what a full scan will find that a quick scan does not are left-overs of already-dead infections. In nearly all cases you do not need to run a full scan, a quick scan is sufficient.
  22. Thanks DaleDoc I'm glad that you've found a screen capture program that works so well for you! I only need to take screen shots for simple tasks so I use print screen & paint, but if I would ever like to use a program for it, I'll keep the one you told me about in mind. Thank you
