  1. That's not good at all. If I were still using AVG that would be enough to make me (this is my opinion) drop them, unless of course they fixed the problem in a timely manner. No way do I or would I want to go without Malwarebytes ever again.
  2. Wow those pics are fantastic Ron Looks like you had a great time!
  3. Some tests/programs dig deeper than others, which is sometimes necessary during malware hunting and removal.
  4. You're welcome I was just reminding you about not replying in case you didn't know
  5. Well there will be further instructions once an expert replies to your post Please be patient and don't reply to your own topic until someone has responded with help, as it can make it appear that you are getting help when you are not. As for subscribing to everything, you can go to My Controls, then on the left, under Subscriptions, click on "view topics" or "view forums" and you can check off and unsubscribe to things you don't want to be subscribed to.
  6. This is pretty bad that they took away this: "AVG 2011 Resident Shield - File Exclude - "Add List" Feature was removed" If I still used AVG, I would be more than happy to try and help out here, but since I switched earlier this year I won't be able to do so. Good luck! I hope it's resolvable in a timely manner and hopefully AVG puts that feature back in place.
  7. Just adding here to say - my database is 4722 & also says 9/3/10. Hovering (I have the paid version) says 9/30/10. I wouldn't have even noticed tbh if not for this post.
  8. I don't like how they retract, too easily able to break. Bleh.
  9. Well I have a 2 GB and an 8 GB. I thought I had a 4 GB but I don't. I didn't know you could register them. That's pretty cool. To be honest I don't think I'd bother though, heh.
  10. Oh that's a peach. San Disk flash drives are what all my backups are on. That's okay though, I always safely remove first.
  11. How would you stop it from indexing items when you want to safely remove the drive? Or would waiting be sufficient?
  12. Excellent idea I know Kaspersky has one, although I've never used it before (haven't needed to).
  13. No one gave me a black eye. I wouldn't let em anyway... Nope, I don't really use my picture online... except little pieces like that once in a blue moon.
  14. ahhh noooo FB intergration might come. ahhh!!! runnn!!! lol jk at the last part Gary, I hope that you stay cancer-free and will do well from now on! There is lot to learn here, feel free to read, read read, and learn learn learn! I know I have
  15. You're welcome Well, just start a topic on something of interest to you, and I'm sure that you'll get some replies Most people focus on the malware removal and computer issues/topics/comcerns of course, but the general chat is a good place for general chat and to get to know each other a little bit
  16. It would be a good idea definitely to start doing that, Buttons. Maybe a no-go, but, did you try Recuva? I am not sure if it would work on Ubuntu, but if you can get it to install in your VM it's worth a shot
  17. We do have the general chat area As long as it's not offensive, about politics, religion, or targeting a group of people in a derogatory way, most things go in general chat Please see the two links in my signature at the very bottom for rules of the forum & whats appropriate.
  18. I always ALWAYS "safely remove hardware". I know there are risks not doing so. They've never happened to me personally, and I used to just take them out w/o doing that, but I don't risk it anymore. I safely remove any removable drives prior to removal. It could be defective, it could be that you didn't safely remove one times too many, or maybe you're just unlucky. I always always recommend safely removing the removable drive, just to be safe.
  19. Edit to add: If you are going to have a free AV (and claim that your product is free), have it be fully functional and free. If you want to charge for your product, that's totally fine. Just don't call it a FREE download/program and then basically have no features unless you pay. That's deceptive advertising and not ethical in my opinion. I would not recommend something that does that and I would not use it. Or, if you want to charge, have a fully-functional product that's good for at least a week. (Most software trials let you have 15 or 30 or 60 days before you have to pay).
  20. Just some other AV recommendations to add to the others: The following are my recommendations for antivirus protection along with links to downloads for them (free trials for those that require a purchase so you can try them before deciding): Kaspersky (free 30 day trial) The official support forum for this product can be found here Avira Antivir (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here ESET NOD32 (free 30 day trial) The official support forum for this product can be found here Microsoft Security Essentials (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here Avast! (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here Note: If you decide to use one of the trial versions of one of the paid antiviruses then you will either need to purchase it or uninstall it completely and install a replacement antivirus before the trial expires so that your PC is not left unprotected. 21. @Shy I did just find this: Not sure if that will help or not, though.
