  1. Hello again, cpaesq Are you looking for a free or a paid antivirus product? I personally would never recommend that anyone use McAfee if they could help it And of course, paid Malwarebytes is also a wonderful way to protect your system alongside an antivirus program against malware that antiviruses are not designed to catch. Below is a canned message about different AV options out there, both free and paid. Let me know if you have any further questions! The following are my recommendations for antivirus protection along with links to downloads for them (free trials for those that require a purchase so you can try them before deciding): Kaspersky (free 30 day trial) The official support forum for this product can be found here Avira Antivir (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here ESET NOD32 (free 30 day trial) The official support forum for this product can be found here Microsoft Security Essentials (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here Avast! (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here Note: If you decide to use one of the trial versions of one of the paid antiviruses then you will either need to purchase it or uninstall it completely and install a replacement antivirus before the trial expires so that your PC is not left unprotected. 3. Hello goatlover, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process: We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help. If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you. Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read. After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. Thank you
  4. Hello 05Karin, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Please exclude Malwarebytes from Trend Micro as described here. Let me know if that does the trick for you
  5. Darn. Change it back to what it was before, then. I'm going to ask someone else to take a look here, because I am stumped.
  6. I think I may have found the answer Please let me know if it helps!
  7. Hmm. Did the game ask you to alter anything while you were playing it or prior to playing it?
  8. K. I'm going to do a little research and get back to you... One more question though, at what point did you notice that this happened? Perhaps the game changed a setting?
  9. Not sure if you tried this already, but, In Opera: Click on the red "O" in the upper left. Page > Zoom click on 100% In Firefox: View > Zoom > Reset In IE (assuming you're using IE8): View > Zoom > 100% and also, typically, View > Text Size > Medium Check and change these settings in each browser and let me know if that was the problem
  10. Hi coconutnut, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Is this only occurring in Opera or is it happening on your computer in general?
  11. dsprado, The free version should take care of it for you, unless the malware blocks it from running. If the directions I gave you do not work, please follow those of AdvancedSetup above. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here. Then run a quick scan.
  12. Hello dsprado, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Update Malwarebytes, run a quick scan, and then allow it to remove whatever it finds. If Malwarebytes asks you to restart, please do so after saving any work you may have open. It is VERY important to restart as quickly as possible when prompted by Malwarebytes. You can also try this guide here if the above does not work: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...st&p=178790 Let me know if that does the trick for you. If not, you'll need to visit the Malware Removal Forum which I will give you directions for if it turns out that you need them.
  13. I've never traveled outside the USA either, I'd love to visit the UK, Australia, and a few other places someday

  15. Mostly I use iTunes, but sometimes I do use Windows Media Player.
  16. If I have correct information (and I am pretty sure I do), Mbam will NOT delete such critical system files such as explorer.exe. However, it will flag them as an infection so that you are made aware that malware has altered the critical file. If anyone on staff or anyone that knows for sure if I am wrong, please feel free to correct me.
  17. Gravity, Please try to use the ADD REPLY button in the future Awesome! That's great to hear! Let me know if you have any questions about it. And I agree, quite a gem! Thanks to Exile I have been using it for quite a while now and I like it very much so
  18. Finnish Saint, In my opinion, Windows Firewall with a modem/router firewall is sufficient. But if you'd like to use a third-party software firewall in place of Windows Firewall, go ahead if you wish.
  19. Gravity, Okay, sure, just let me know when, if you decide to do it I'd be happy to help. Are you running it already though (HostsMan)? I am just a bit confused by your reply, is all.
  20. I would still visit the Malware removal forum, yes. Also just give a summary on what has happened with your machine from when you noticed & removed the infections up until this point, that will be helpful for your helper to know as well. Good luck!
  21. You're very welcome, Adela, And I'm glad that you'll be doing so
  22. I like it pretty well I don't use it personally, but I've installed it on a machine that I look after and it does quite well on there (Vista), running light and everything, and they seem to like it well enough. I've also given two friends instructions on installing it on their machines when they were looking for an AV (one was sick of McAfee [XP] and the other had a Norton trial running out [Vista]) and I haven't heard any complaints from them. Each machine also has Mbam free on it.
