  1. Mbam is good!! Detected the SpyCar file with the protection module before I even got to hit the "scan" button. I quarantined it, then I restored it. Ran a quick scan. Clicked to highlight the result, clicked ignore. Then I hit exit, got same message as fzub did. Tried what Exile posted, and that did the trick Fzub, It may just be that's how Mbam works, in order to not have that message come up at you you have to click remove selected after ignoring an item. Someone on staff may let us know if that is the case, if it is the case. Edit: This was done in beta 1.46 btw.
  2. Hello Sweet Sue Ohio and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Here is a direct quote from Fatdcuk, a Malwarebytes Researcher. As a side note, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button located at the bottom of the page. Thank you
  3. You are quite welcome Keith! I'm glad that I was able to help clear things up for you
  4. I have experienced Comodo firewall and I can say that I did not like it one iota.
  5. Okay. Thanks for clarifying this, fzub. Let's see what TeMerc has to say
  6. I will be more than happy to test this on my system tonight to see what happens for me. Question though for you fzub, since I didn't quite see it in your screen shot, did you highlight the detection and then press ignore?
  7. You're welcome I was just confused because in your signature you stated that Malwarebytes is the best AV program; you should probably change that so it correctly reflects what Malwarebytes is Avira is definitely an excellent AV program and if Kaspersky did not exist I would be using it myself It also works perfectly with Malwarebytes, which is another reason it is an excellent choice for people who also use Malwarebytes, especially the paid version of Malwarebytes.
  8. Couposn, I would just like to take a moment here to point out to you that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is NOT an Anti-Virus program. It is an Anti-MALWARE program, designed to stop, catch and remove the nasties that AV's commonly miss/are not good at. You STILL need to use a good Anti-Virus software with Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware provides excellent protection alongside any good AV program The following are my recommendations for antivirus protection along with links to downloads for them (free trials for those that require a purchase so you can try them before deciding): Kaspersky (free 30 day trial) The official support forum for this product can be found here Avira Antivir (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here ESET NOD32 (free 30 day trial) The official support forum for this product can be found here Microsoft Security Essentials (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here Avast! (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here Note: If you decide to use one of the trial versions of one of the paid antiviruses then you will either need to purchase it or uninstall it completely and install a replacement antivirus before the trial expires so that your PC is not left unprotected. 9. MAM, SpyCar is a website that is there to test your AV and AM software. It has non-malicious downloads and files to run to test against your AV & AM software to see how well it performs. The items do not harm your computer at all, and any changes made to your system (which are harmless) can be reversed at the end. I did read posting one from the thread starter
  10. I've never tried to ignore a detected item before actually, but if it would help out here I could download a SpyCar file as a test tonight & test this out and report back.
  11. You're welcome Ah, that makes sense. No worries, also just make that clear to your helper once someone replies to you.
  12. nottootechy, That's good It's okay, they'll be able to explain things so that you'll be able to understand. Just explain, once someone replies to your post (not before someone replies) that you are a very basic user and you need detailed explanations and it shouldn't be a problem. If you really feel that you can't do it after a several posts with whomever is going to be your helper, just let them know that and take it to a shop if you are unable to follow. If it seems as though you can do it though, I recommend that, as the help here is free, and you learn along the way too
  13. Did you uninstall AVG prior to installing Avira? Looks like you did since you said that you deleted it before you installed Malwarebytes. Well, actually, Malwarebytes takes care of spyware Take a look back at my first post, and read starting from this: After that, please follow the directions below so that one of our experts may assist you in getting your system cleaned:
  14. Hello Keith, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Basically, a quick scan searches in all areas that malware likes to hide. Also, if you run a full scan, some malware has a chance to change itself, so the longer the scan, the longer the malware (if you have this type of malware) has to change. A full scan will scan everything, and the only thing that a full scan will find that a quick scan will not are already-dead traces of infections that are gone already and items in the system restore area. Items in the system restore area cannot harm your machine unless you use an infected restore point. Here are some references I found on the forum by Nosirrah, who is the Malwarebytes VP of Research. Hope this clears things up for you http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...ost&p=41633 http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...st&p=141646 http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...ost&p=83165 check out the 4th paragraph in this post: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...ost&p=45299 http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...ost&p=43831 http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...ost&p=40769 Any more questions, feel free to post! 15. You are very welcome nottootechy!! Yeah, it is kinda annoying that Avira doesn't generate a log file but there is a history that it keeps. I think its only for a month though, although I could be wrong. Take screen shots if you'd like, that's what I do if a result is ever found. Quick question, did you just leave all the settings to default on Avira? And did you have an antivirus prior to installing Avira? I'm glad that things seem to be better now. Go rest, and continue tomorrow Again, you are so very welcome!! Glad to be of help.
  16. I don't mind the advertisement too much. I personally don't find it to be a deterrent. It is otherwise an excellent antivirus.
  17. Hello nottootechy, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org You're in luck! Avira antivirus is perfectly compatible with Malwarebytes and does not need any exclusions entered for Malwarebytes. You may download Avira here. << Just click there. After you do that, please do run a scan. After that, please follow the directions below so that one of our experts may assist you in getting your system cleaned: Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help. If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you. Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button located at the bottom of the page, as this makes the forum easier to read. After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. Thank you
  18. Iron4, You can contest the charges though with your credit card company if you purchased this malicious software. Hopefully they'll be able to refund your money. You may also want to look into canceling that account and getting a new one so no new fraudulent charges are made to your card (which could potentially happen). And yes, please do follow the directions from noknojon above me to get yourself cleaned up.

  20. Hello missbrokensmile Please go here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=9573 and scroll down to Troubleshooting Tips See if any of those will help you out Otherwise, please follow the directions in that post and post in the Malware removal forum so that someone can assist you in getting cleaned up Thank you.
  21. Hello there stronglike I tried to reply to you - twice - about four hours ago but the stupid internet or something kept cutting me off!! Anyway, please go here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...ost&p=49525 And follow the directions for Issue #4. Let me know if that does the trick for you as far as getting an update copy of Mbam on the computer that can't go online. If you have access to a CD burner, I would recommend burning the mbam .exe file & the rules.ref to CD vs. using a flash drive, just in case.
  22. I'm sorry to hear that Catscomputer. May they rest in peace <3
