Trying different things as of late. Credit monitoring: Found AAA and Discover have their own version of credit monitoring . https://www.aaa.com/experianidtheft/ https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/protection-solutions/identity-theft-protection/product-details.html Data brokers: Discover has a version of data brokers optout. https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/card-smarts/what-are-data-brokers/ There is an app that I'm trying out by consumer reports that helps you opt out of data brokers and info on store sites. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.consumerreports.permissionslip.production

Ok.... I thought call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 and E-verify did two different things...
-
Did the E-verify also and locked my SSN ...so many secret questions! Still need to call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 to request a block.

Let's blame @David H. Lipman .

Experian I assume.....

My info was in the NPD data dump. I froze the accounts on all 3 credit houses and did a initial fraud report. Is that enough? Or should I invest in one these like LifeLock?
-
@NewTricks You're welcome, I've also been involved with data breaches (At&T/Comcast) and Froze my credit reports due to these. One good thing about the credit freeze is that you a schedule a thaw when you try to apply for anything and freeze it again when you're done. I put my info into Pentester and I was on there along with the wife's, my son was ok.

Create an account with the 3 main credit houses.( Experian, TransUnion and Equifax . )Put a freeze on all 3 of them. Also start a initial fraud alert on one for those credit houses and they will tell the other two. https://time.com/7011872/social-security-data-breach-information/ https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/15/business/social-security-numbers-stolen-hack.html#:~:text=The data was supposedly stolen from National Public, thieves got Social Security numbers in the breach.

I did and this was the response... "While we can't pinpoint why the volume rocker button combo isn't working on your device, as long as you can use the button within the app, you should be all set to perform the scan. I'll go ahead and close this ticket for now, but feel free to reply if there's anything else I can help you with." Thank you so much! Xxxx X | Technical Product

Kinda looking for a way to block the bad sites in general. Is there any browser plugins to try? -

Can't block Facebook without causing a big stink on their phone... -
They did this twice already. They go to an advertisment on Facebook and start the check-out,they start filling out the check out form and get freaked out when it asks for more information than necessary. They back out but the scammers have the card information but luckily the card carrier caught these bad transactions and canceled the card each time. Question is ....how can we setup the android phone to detect these scams and block them..

Thank for the info.
