  1. So how does it comes that SAS (and some other Windows-only scanners) are there? Does not VT use simulator for running those special customized (for VT) version of scanners?
  2. Hey! I did a quick search and did not find related topic, so I ask it here Are there any plan that Malwarebytes join VirusTotal? I mean become one of the scanner in there, like SAS did?
  3. Ok, Thanks for reply, may I take it as an official comment and quote in my blog?
  4. Thanks for response, good to know it's coming in next release, updating MBAM for slow internet is becoming a problem (As Database is growing everyday), when I started using MBAM database was less than 1MB and now 5-6MB
  5. An easy question! Are Virut/Virtu and Sality being detected by Malwarebytes? Either Real-Time or on-demand? If yes, are not Virtu and Sality being classified as file infector too? This is confusing me Because you say
  6. You are welcome! I don't know , anyway something has been wrong with database and this happened... maybe did not download right or maybe system restore copied an incompatible version or many problems else... that's something MBAM know...
  7. God bless you for asking this! this what I want mbam and they don't mind to release offline updater
  8. Hi, it's now working after auto-update too, Thanks for reply.
  9. I updated MBAM to lastest versions a few days ago, and then run it without problems, set it to auto update at night and then a quick scan. after 1-2 nights in morning instead of seeing scan result I saw "MBAM_ERROR_LOAD_DATABASE (0, 5)" just re-run mbam and see it works no more and give me that error. I did take a look in forum and read an Elite Member (Firefox) answer to a question similar to mine. recommended to uninstall (and cleanup via mbam-clean.exe) and then reinstall. I'm lazy! I did not want to restart, so I just went to C:\programdata\malwarebytes\malwarebytes' anti-malware\ folder and rename rules.ref to rules.ref.bak and run mbam again, after run mbam said could not find database and asked to download a new one, I said Yup! it did and now MBAM works and it can scan.... is this what I did safe| or yet after that error I should clean install MBAM?
  10. well, of course MBAM (and not others...) can detect everything... so please: in scan result I wish to see 2 tab, one tab normal result that we are seeing, a new tab which bring "unknown objects" MBAM can update database with 2 list, right now it only update database for malware, but it would be better if it add both Good and bad objects to database. then MBAM would became too powerful, it detect and remove Malwares with its own definition database and also let users remove those malware which is not yet added to MBAM definitions database, also then MBAM might let users upload those unknown programs which users think might be malware. it get times for developers and also need more bandwidth and resources, need more engineer to works on submited samples etc.. but it's needed to be able more strong. just the problem would be database... it's now 4MB, but then would became very very large if add the whitelist too.
  11. Thanks for the really helpful reply and links. that's what I needed.
  12. why? I understand those are malware samples and I like to run and test them in my Virtual Machine, so what should I do to allow access them?
  13. Thanks for reply, I appreciate your answer. not dialup, but not fast connection, my connection speed is almost 128Kbps (12-13 KB per second download speed). Good to know it would happen, MBAM team need to spend more time on this; at least to add it to paid version. and any idea about my problem with scheduler?
  14. ok, I entered my License and then paid version with protection enabled. did a reboot and then using SysInternals I disabled MBAM auto-start ("C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe" /starttray) and then set MBAM service to manual, did a reboot and set the MBAM to update in 9:00AM and quick scan in 10:00AM, now after 3 days (now 18/1/2010) MBAM says Current Database information Data: 18/1/2010 then it's mean it did not update, I verify in Windows schedular and I can see MBAM tasks in there so it's mean it did not need Backgrounds tasks which I've disabled, so, what?! why it did not update? my computer is always online and I don't turn it off...
  15. haha, I know, I've set my Avira to start scan 5 AM (same time that I go sleep ) , it takes 2 hours, then after scan 3 different backups start and it take until 8 AM, yeah good idea to set it update in 9 AM, but I don't want to leave it run in background , my only real-time protection is Avira and I don't want have more process in background of any other AV or antispyware... so how I can set it update in the 9 AM? is it possible via scheduler of windows? (I've MBAM License, but I've not applied it to keep MBAM on-demand scanner), because after apply license I had to set MBAM service to manual and remove MBAM from startup.)
  16. emmm, I'm going to stop using MBAM until the time update system change from Download "whole database" to "Patch current Database" when this change would happen? when this would be implement? first day when I start using MBAM, it was just around 1 MB, but now it has become near 4MB... this is every growing and waste of time to update... you should change the way update database...
