  1. Hello, ive had these problems before with hard drives and sometimes it can be a bad sector on the hard drive. Windows can do a check disk and move or repair bad sectors (i think) something like that. This is what i do and works most of the time. You have to take out the hard drive and connect it to another windows pc, the easiest way for this is buy an sata/ide adapter to usb you that can get on newegg or frys for about 20-30bucks. (just turns your hd into an external drive). Once you have the drive in another cpu you have to open command promt (type cmd in run box) then a little black window will open and in there just type "chkdsk x:/r" and x would be the new drive letter of the hd you just connected. This process may take hours depending size of hd. This scans the whole hd and i think moves the bad sector or skips over them, then you can reinstall windows after that and should be fine. Sorry for such a long response but i have trouble explaining things lol. If you need any help let me know.
  2. First off, just wanna say thanks to malwarebytes for making such a perfect program. I was just wondering if you guys can put a link to the forums on your main home page. You might get more members if they saw the shortcut there. I didnt even know there was a forum for a long time until i got bored and just clicked on contact us lol.
  3. how can i delete this thread? i found my answer.
  4. Anyone know how to stop the new hardware found wizard from running on windows startup? Im cleaning a friends older laptop and everytime windows starts it detects a new monitor, but can never install the software. Error saying Device installer error failed to install for monitor. Ive done all the updates, it has the right video drivers from HP. I go into device manager to unistall it but cant, says it might be required for boot up. If i go into device manager, i see theres 3 monitors under the monitors tab,(the first two are good but the last monitor showns unknown.) Even disabling it still shows new hardware found on every boot up. Its a laptop and wont ever be connected to an external monitor. Sorry for such a long post but just wanted to let you know what ive done and tried. Thank you.
  5. If you were able to install malwarebytes, then you could try and rename the mbam.exe in the programs folder. Ive had to fix a couple of computers that had that same problem your describing. Mbam would never load, but after renaming the mbam.exe to what ever you want it started working. Goodluck!
  6. Hello, Just wondering if there is a way to encrypt or put some anti copy software on a homemade dvd i make? My buddy wants to make training videos and wants to sell them, but wants people to not copy them or at least have trouble copying them. Thanks for your time. Ive searched online but can only find how to take off the copy right software or how to decrypt dvds.
  7. Most newer hp's have a recovery partion on the hard drive. If that laptop has it then hit f11 while booting up and that takes you to hps factory restore options. If not you need the hp recovery disc because it has all the drivers and apps for that laptop. Let me know if that helps.
  8. Hi there, What kind of laptop is this? Have you tried to go on the manufactures website to look for touchpad drivers? Also try doing the windows updates and look into the hardware updates, that usually installs missing devices if detected. Good luck!
