  1. Andy, I have not used Online Armor myself. However, I'm aware that some Firewalls/A-V's use checksum hashes to check file integrity. Obviously, when we (MBAM) do an update, those values are going to change. My advice is to be aware of this and adjust accordingly. Being a regular member, you should be fairly aware when an update takes place. At that time, you are going to need to "retrain" your Firewall and possibly your A-V programs. That's not a bad thing. It's just that as malware has gotten sneakier, and more tenacious, the other security programs have had to step up to the plate regarding what they think is legitimate or not.
  2. @catscomputer LOL - and I mean literally. That was just as funny!
  3. Very Nice sho-dan. Excellent - Thank You

  6. Hi hello2007 Check out this thread at Wilders Security Forums about snapshot-based uninstallers and the trouble they can cause in the wrong hands. I've not used it myself, but according to the Ashampoo site, their Uninstaller looks to fall into this category.
  7. Hello Helen4141, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org In order to make sure you are clean, I would suggest you get another opinion by following the instructions below. Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the helpdesk at support@malwarebytes.org. As far as your financial details being compromised, it is very possible that they may have been. I doubt there's anyway to absolutely know for sure. I would suggest you change your passwords to all your online accounts from a known clean machine (not this one.) You may also want to contact your bank/credit card companies.

  9. Hi arfamow, I can assure you that MBAM is not altering your binaries. It DOES need to interact with various Windows processes in memory and that is what your firewall program is interpreting as a modification. You need to go back and set your firewall/HIPS to trust MBAM. The reason you can't get any MBAM updates now is because you've already blocked MBAM with the firewall program. Please check your Internet Security/Anti-Virus program and make sure the following files are trusted/excluded: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
  10. Hi Bill, The reason you don't see the tray icon right away is by design. The default setting for MBAM is for the MBAM Service to start Automatic (Delayed Start). This is to prevent conflicts while other programs such as your AV are also loading. You can open services from administrative tools and reset it to start Automatic and see if you experience any problems. See this post for more information.
  11. Hi SKW, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org We currently have one in active development. The people in Sales can give you more information. Please send an email to corporate@malwarebytes.org that includes your name, phone number, email, company and the number of licenses you are inquiring about. Emails with domains from actual businesses (.org, .gov or .edu inquiries are also included in this group) will be prioritized for responses over anonymous emails such as yahoo, gmail, msn, etc. Thank You
  12. Hi Bill, The FAQ that Exile360 referred to is written for the current enterprise version of McAfee. It looks like you have the home version. According to the McAfee Community Support Forum for home users, exclusions are no longer supported in the home product. They are still supported in the corporate versions though. It would appear that their main solution to false positives and conflicts is to turn off Active Protection. See this post, especially at the end where they link to the Artemis FAQ and how to configure it, as well as this one.
  13. Hi Gonz075, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org I would suggest you start off here to see if you can take care of it yourself. This forum is where you post general questions about the MBAM program itself. However, we don't work on malware removal in the general forums. For that, you'll need to move on to the instructions below. Please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the helpdesk at support@malwarebytes.org. If that doesn't cover it and you still have a question, just add a reply here and someone will respond.
  14. Hi Amethyst, If I can throw my two cents in here, I've used both Open Office and MS Office 2003 in Vista Ultimate x64 and can say they both work great. Be aware that a document created in MS Word will have slightly different formatting in Open Office. I had a two-page MS Word document that Open Office re-formatted to three pages. Subsequently opening the same document in MS Office 2003 did not change it back to the original. Luckily, I was working with a copy, so was able to go back. I also found some of the other features of Open Office not so intuitive, but that could well be because I've used MS since the very first version, when Windows itself fit on one floppy disk. It's just a learning curve to use something different. For instance, I found the envelope addressing feature in Open Office to work very differently than the MS Word method. Just a few months ago, I switched back to MS 2003 full time and removed Open Office. So far, I've not really used Office 2007 much. Once again, because the interface is so different than what I'm used to. I'm not real big on ribbon bars and would just as soon have full pull-down menus. I don't mind using and learning new programs, but when I need to get some work done, sometimes it's just easier to stick with what I know.
  15. Hello nomnom, If you do a search on the forum for the word portable you will see that this has been discussed many times - though I don't recall teaming MBAM with Wine specifically. The short answer is that it MAY happen someday, but it is not a priority. The way that MBAM works does not lend itself itself to that situation, and it just wouldn't be as effective. A better solution in these types of situations is to run another full anti-virus program from another disk/environment instead, followed up with a quick scan from MBAM in Windows normal mode.
  16. Before using the IE Reset Fix-It Tool, please read Knowledge Base Article ID: 923737 at Microsoft. This tool applies to Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP Windows Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista Windows Internet Explorer 8 It is not intended for Windows 7. Also, this will disable any add-ons in Internet Explorer, however it will not remove them.
  17. Hmm, I can see number 8 not working and possibly Section D, but surely issue 4 is doable - even if it requires another computer. The only thing I can think of that would stop # 4 is possibly an infection. I agree though that something is wrong, particularly if it worked fine yesterday. Are you able to get to various sites without re-directs using Internet Explorer - say like Google and Symantec, or some other security vendors? Will MBAM start normally and run a quick scan to completion with the existing definitions? Is a Firewall or Anti-virus program blocking the download? What programs do you use for these? Many of these programs need to be set to trust MBAM. That too, is covered in the FAQ I linked to previously. Have you installed any software since the last MBAM update or done any other updates to existing software installations? This is a home computer? Updates also require that you be an administrator on the box. Please post back and let me know. If you think it's due to an infection, you'll need to move into the Malware Removal HijackThis forum. 18. Hi woodworm1972, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org Please take a look at the FAQ and see if that helps. In particular, see Section A, Issue 8 and Section D: Automatically Detect Settings in Internet Explorer. MBAM uses Internet Explorer settings to perform it's downloads, even if you normally use another browser such as Chrome or Firefox. Also make sure you have no proxy enabled. You can also use Section A, Issue 4 as a work around.
  19. Hi Mike71, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org That's not our product so that question would be better asked at Defender Pro's own support area, but yes, according to their knowledge base it appears you do need to register it. They also have a trouble ticket system there and a live chat function. I've moved this topic to the PC Help forum. Please post in the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Support -> General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum if you have any questions or problems with Malwarebytes'. Be sure to see the Common Issues and Errors FAQ information pinned at the top first before posting.

  21. Hi joelj1964, You don't say what your operating system is, but right click context menu scanning is not currently implemented for x64 OS's. It will be included in the next release. You say it used to work - have you upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit? If not, there may be something wrong with your shell settings in Windows.
  22. Hi Esetisthebest, I don't think it's a Win7 problem as much as an x64 problem. I have the same thing going on in Vista x64. It does work though. It just seems to take forever to actually turn it off. It turns on much faster. What I find is that if I wait 20 seconds or so and check again, it is off. I would think it would be almost instantaneous, but it's not. The next version of MBAM is currently in private beta testing, and it seems to work better, but for me, turning it off is still not real quick. One thing you might want to consider in the meanwhile is the registry tweak that starts Windows with IP blocking disabled. You can then toggle it back on after you've gone to whatever site(s) that are being blocked. Also see the post just below that one for x64 versions of Windows. The next version of MBAM will allow you to add blocked sites to a whitelist.
  23. You're welcome. Most of the helpers are volunteers and they are extremely busy in there. If someone doesn't respond within 3 days or so, send a private message to one of the moderators or administrators telling them you are still waiting to be helped.
