  1. @ssudarshan75

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to upgrade from v1.45 to v1.46 and that is when the problem started?

That error code means there is an error loading a dll, so I'm guessing something is blocking it.

Is there any other security software on the machine?

Are you reasonably sure you are not already infected?

Is this a consumer version of AVG 9 or business?

If this is a business machine, please send an email to corporate-support@malwarebytes.org

Note that all corporate support inquiries require an order number.

  3. Hi Buttons,

Yes, business users need to buy a commercial license. The version you are referring to as the Pro version is for the consumer home retail license which is a lifetime license. Business use requires an annual renewal fee. The scanning engine and the database rules are the same - but the licensing and pricing are different and are handled directly by Corporate Sales. They can be contacted at corporate@malwarebytes.org.

  4. Hello jump_ace,

Yes, once you have purchased the license, the registration information will be included in the confirmation email from Cleverbridge. But to clarify, there is no free version of the product in a business environment and each computer must be licensed. The free version is intended for home users only.

Be aware that you will most likely need to make exclusions in your current anti-virus product in order that MBAM's protection module coexists with the a-v without trouble.

Further details can be found here.

We have an online guide here for removal of Antispyware Soft. If that doesn't work for you, you'll need to continue on with the instructions below.

  6. Of course the safest thing to do is get rid of Utorrent becaue all P2P apps put your security at risk. Most helpers assisting in an infection removal will insist on it during the removal process. We also realize that some people are just going to use P2P regardless. I wouldn't say to mark those sites as trusted, but you should at least disable P2P from automatically starting with Windows and letting it run full time. Sorry, I don't know if Utorrent does that or not. It's been a long time since I've had any P2P apps installed but I remember that some of them did. While you are in a session, you can toggle off website blocking and turn it back on afterward. The problem with marking the sites to the ignore list is that they are "permanent" (until you delete them from the ignore list) and you don't really know who you are connecting to and possibly downloading.

  7. Hello John.A,

There is no need to turn off the protection module to stop the notifications. You can either just turn off Website blocking, or you can turn off the notification bubble. Both settings are on the protection tab. You can also right click the tray icon to toggle website blocking. I looked at only three of the IP addresses you provided and they go to Taiwan, Netherlands and Luxembourg. The reason you are seeing these could be from a P2P application you are running if you are convinced that you are not infected. Unfortunately, no security product can catch everything every single day, and if you are NOT running P2P it may be a sign that you are infected, even though a scan doesn't detect it.

  8. Trying to go back to version 1.44 is unsound advice. There's a reason we update several times per day. Version 1.44 shipped with database #3510 if I recall correctly. That puts it over 400 updates behind. As soon as you try to update it from that database, it's just going to download and re-install the main program again anyway. What needs to be done is to track down why you are getting the error(s) and then resolve it. It does take patience and time. Many of the people here are volunteers and give of their time freely. They also have other lives and responsibilities beyond this forum.

To the best of my knowledge, most of these updating problems revolve around incorrectly configured firewalls.

We need to know what name and version of AV you have. Many AV vendors have more than one product, and definitely more than one version. Some of them include firewalls and some don't. It's impossible for us to have every security product on hand and installed, but perhaps others do have it installed alongside MBAM and working.

We also need to know the Operating System version and is it x32 or x64.

    What firewall and version?

What exactly is the error you are getting?

Are there any error codes accompanying the error message?

Is this the free or paid version of MBAM? Assuming this is the paid version, are there any further indicators in the protection logs?

Have you looked at the pinned topics at the top of the forum such as here and here?

Did you try anything in them and if so, what was the result?

Just saying that this release has glitches and doesn't work is not proactive and doesn't do anyone any good.

  10. Hi pappystocker1,

Make sure there are no spaces before the ID and Key numbers when you paste them. Also make sure there are no trailing spaces.

It's an easy thing to miss, especially with a copy/paste operation.

Format should be 12345 or 12345-67890 for the ID with a combination of letters and numbers (some older ID's were shorter and only used 5 characters.)

Format should be AAAA-BBBB-CCCC-DDDD for the Key with a combination of letters and numbers.
