  1. Boy you are fast! I was juct getting ready to edit my previous post just to let you know that I am now using Online Armor and should I turn off WF? But you beat me to it!B) Thanks again. Take care.
  2. Thanks very much for your help. p.s. You did say 'turn off Windows Firewall, yes?'
  3. Hello again. 1. I have uninstalled Shareaza. 2. I've chosen the easy way and dowloaded Ccleaner but I can't find the 'clean registry' box so that I can uncheck it. There is a box called 'registry' beneath the brush that says 'cleaner' on ther left panel. Do I click on that and uncheck everything that opens up on the right? 3. I turned Windows Automatic Updates on. So far I've been doing it manually as some items didn't seem to relate to my cinfiguration. Anyway now it's on. 4. Yes, Windows Firewall is the only one I'm using. I'll try your suggestion about an additional firewall. But isn't th
  4. Hello again. I have had no problems since my last post. I ran HJT and fixed the item you mentioned. However that put msn as my home page. I didn't want to have a home page so I clicked 'use blank'. That's ok, isn't it? The rest of the stuff sounds very complicated so if you don't mind, I'll wait until the problem occurs again and I 'panic' before I attempt to do them. You know there's something that perhaps I should have mentioned from the start but just didn't occur to me at the time. The reason I notice that my speed slows down until it reaches 0 is because I'm using a p2p program called Sh

  8. OK.I ran Spybot but nothing was detected. I then ran MBAM and here's the scan report: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.11 Database version: 717 Scan type: Full Scan (C:\|) Objects scanned: 62077 Time elapsed: 49 minute(s), 45 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 3 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 1 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{c1a6d8b8-93c3-4186-9dd1
  9. I have updated Spybot and immunized but I cannot find any info in the tutorial about disabling Tea Timer.
  10. You won't believe this! As soon as I posted my previous reply .... my speed slowed down to o again after two days! Off I go now to follow your instructions. Thanks.
  11. Thank you so much for responding to my plea for help. I seem to have solved the problem by running a program called 'winsockxpfix' that did some work in the registry and things have been ok for two days now. If the problem recurs, I will follow your instructions. Thank you for always being prompt and courteous on this site.
  12. About once a day my Internet speed slows right down to 0 and I cannot access my Internet Connection settings. When I shut down,I get a msg that says 'connections tray not responding'.When the pc eventually shuts down and I restart, everything is back to normal.I have run my antivirus as well as Spybot and Ad-aware and I've defragmented. I already have RR pro which I ran and the repost came out clean. Someone suggested disabling all unnecessary items at Startup, which I have also done to no avail. Is it a new bug that has fallen in love with me? Thank you.
  13. Yes, I was able to log in and yes, your advice has helped again. RR pro is up and running again. Thank you.
  14. I get a message about a new version of Rogue Remover pro but after donwloading it, I am unable to install it. There is an error msg and the options I am given are abort, retry and ignore. None of these work. The monitor of the existing RR pro is not running any more. I apologise for having to email but I haven't been able to log in to the Forum for a while and I had to get a new password which also didn't work for a while.Thanks.
  15. Ok Marcin. Thanks very much for all your help.
  16. Hi again Marcin. Yes, there has been a slight improvement since dealing with TCP. I already had ccleaner so I ran it according to your instructions and then I defragmented. The last two times I defragmented it took approximately.... 12 hours! This time it took 4 hours. Would it help if I sent you the defragmentation report? When opening Task Manager, without any activity on my pc, it often runs 100%. Items "system" and " CPF.EXE" range from 0 to 50% each and Explorer.exe 0- 20%. Before dealing with TCP, it was 100% all the time. Now there are short intervals of inactivity but then it goes aga
  17. I also have Spybot and adaware. I think the TCPSVCS.EXE problem has been resolved. A friend sent me a link to a site called "neuber" where I read the following msg: "No Virus!!! But I solved the problem! Well... after further reading on the Service I noticed it's also related to DHCP. Then I looked in the network settings and decided to remove File and Printer Sharing. Didn't fix it So I decided to rebuild the IP stack. After rebuilding the IP Stack I restarted the PC and the problem was still there. I looked at Network Properties again and noticed that the new IP stack added TCP/IP Version
  18. Well, I opened Network Monitor of Comodo and there was an item called "allow and log" which had been blocked and I unblocked it but nothing changed.I didn't see any connections blocked.I also uninstalled Comodo to see if there was any improvement but there was none. I'm not an advanced computer user so there are a lot of abbreviations and coded words which I don't understand. Thanks anyway. You have helped tremendously.p.s.I opened Task Manager again and noticed that EXPLORER.EXE also runs 0-30% of cpu when I'm not even using it.Is that normal?
  19. Registration resolved. I must apologise. When you said no spaces I thought you were referring to the dashes between the key numbers so I was entering them in the form XXXXXXXXXXXXX and not XXXX-XXXX-XXXX etc. It was only when I read one of your replies again that it dawned on me. I'm sorry if that gave you extra trouble. It still takes about 20 minutes for the blue line to fill. I opened the Task Manager again and the process that uses most cpu is TCPSVCS.EXE and it ranges from 48% to 99%. Do you recognise this item? Thanks again. Have a nice day or evening.
  20. The process that uses most cpu is TCPSVCS.EXE 75%-95%. Here is a fresh Hijack This log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.0 (BETA) Scan saved at 11:32:26 πμ, on 31/5/2007 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe C:\Program
  21. I was able to download RRpro with IE using the link you sent me but I still get an invalid login and key message.I am making sure that the numbers are entered according to your instructions but nothing changes. Perhaps I should tell you that every time I open RR it takes about 15-20 minutes for the blue line to fill. Is that normal? Concerning the ram fault / antivirus conflict, is there any way I can find out which of the two causes the problem and perhaps try and rectify it? Thanks Marcin.
  22. Hi Marcin.I was actually using Mozilla.I will try again with IE this time and let you know what happens.Thanks.
  23. I have clicked on the link you sent me in order to download RR pro but in the dialogue box that opens informing me that I'm downloading something, only the "cancel" option is clickable. There is another one,'save file" but it's greyed out. I cannot click on it to save it anywhere. I have done this a few times but the only option I am given is to "cancel" the download. Thanks. By the way I haven't received a mail from you. Only from Marci@support._ I have clicked "edit" In the forum because I need to mention something that might help. I hope I am not opening a new thread! The last time I switc
  24. OK I have fixed checked.I will let you know how it goes.Yes, it was Marcin I sent a mail to. I received a reply today giving me another download link for RR pro and giving me the same ID and Key numbers amd telling me I have three more download attempts until June 12.I have performed the download from the new link I was sent. Do I need to uninstal the first RR pro before proceeding? One more question.Comodo Firewall tells me that LuComServer3 0.exe is trying to connect. Do you recognise this item? Thanks again.
  25. When you say place a check mark next to the specific items, do you mean and then delete them?Sorry if the question borders complete ignorance but I need to be sure about what I have to do.Thank you. Conerning Rogue Remover pro I have installed it but I am unable to register because I get a message the the key is invalid. I have made sure I entered both the ID and Key numbers correctly and that I didn't leave any spaces between the numbers ot enter the words ID or Key. I have sent a mail to support as well about this. Thanks again for your time and trouble.
