Ok I may have hit a road block. I downloaded the SP2 for vista .exe on a separate computer. I got it onto the bad computer and ran the .exe file in safe mode. After about 10 minutes and a restart (not into safe mode) a message came up that the SP2 install failed and that I should run the System Readiness tool. I got the readiness tool .exe file onto the computer. It would not run in Safe mode and in regular mode I got the "this specified service does not exist as an installed service" error again. Is my only option at this point to wipe it clean and reinstall everything?

My mom recently came across a number of issues on her laptop that lead me to believe she has a virus but I am not certain Running Windows vista SP1 3GB of RAM 32 bit OS Dell Inspiron 1525 On Java 7 update 9 The wifi does not work, I cannot access many Windows service menus as an error appears "This specified service does not exist as an installed service" Can someone help triage this for me?
