'A scan has never been run' MB Free 3.1.2
andytg replied to andytg's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Ok strange.....done a scan with MB, as usual flagged up the PUPs, i put them into the exclusion list, shut down my laptop, started it back up and MB ok no message about 'no first time scan', exclusions still in the list....but before doing a Ccleaner scan, i dont know why. i thought let's do a 'restart' not a 'shutdown' so done a 'restart' and there it was little orange triangle on the MB icon in the notification area, message saying 'a scan has never been run'....opened MB all the 'exclusions' gone....so its a 'restart' thats causing this....if anybody hasnt a solution for this the only thing i can think of is in the settings (on the protection tab) of MB you can set it to ignore detections of PUPs (potentially unwanted programs) on a scan....i dont really want to do this so hope someone has a solution.....thanks all... -

yes i see now....sorry for the crossed wires....but i can tell you every time the 'never run a scan' message comes up and i do a scan (MB) it always flags the same PUPS, I put them in the exclusion list, but then i get that message and it all starts again so its like MB has reset itself as if its a new/first scan......so what we are trying to figure out is if Ccleaner doing this...so yes i will do a scan in MB do the exclusions do a scan in Ccleaner and see if that message comes back and if MB will flag those 'exclusions' again.....sorry again for the confusion, and will get back to you soon.....thanks again for your patience... -

blimey....hang on let me read that again lol....are you saying to run a scan in MB and that might trigger an entry of MB in Ccleaner (so i can exclude it)....as im not sure what 'If you already have your program excluded in MB3' means......what program do i exclude in MB as i thought i could only Exclude in Ccleaner (exclude MB).....blimey not sure i understand that....anyway i will do a scan in MB do all the 'ignores' do a Pc restart check to see if i have that message 'A scan has never been run' if not i will do a scan in Ccleaner do another pc restart and check for that message again......i have a feeling it is Ccleaner doing this but the problem is if it is (as iv said above) there does not seem to be an option in Ccleaner to 'forget/ignore' Malwarebytes....I will get back to you on this, but it might be tomorrow.....thanks for all your help... -

I cant be sure (concerning Ccleaner) i do have this installed (as said in my opening comment) i added this in my opening comment as i have read that this might be wiping MBs history, would it be advisable to (if it can) to exclude MB in a setting in Ccleaner... -

'A scan has never been run' MB Free 3.1.2

Hi Porthos and thanks....just to confirm is this 'file' (exe) is for the free version.. -
I have Malwarebytes free (3.1.2) installed but i have a problem that every so often it tells me that 'a scan has never been run' when i have run many scans....this has become a problem because MB flags up about 50 PUPs (connected to one program) that i know is not a 'potentially unwanted program' so even when i tell MB to ignore these it doesnt matter because as soon as it says 'a scan has never been run' it flags them all again....i am running Windows 10 64bit....i do run other 'cleaning programs' such as Ccleaner, JRT and SuperAnti spyware....any ideas how i can resolve this...Thank you..

Thanks again everyone i think i have got my answer now.....have a go with the 'stand alone' Anti Exploit when the 'trial' is up and i revert back to the 'free' version.....ditch Anti Exploit and stick with MB3 (free) or use the uninstall tool to get rid of MB3 (free) and install an earlier version of MBAM and install the 'stand alone' Anti Exploit.....
-
Thanks all, so it seems they want you to buy Anti exploit now (included in the premium MB3) so i will have a go and run Anti exploit when the 'trial' is up, although some has said its not compatible, if i think Anti exploit is not working (anybody know how i can test it) i will revert back to MBAM 2 (i have seen that you can turn off program update but keep malware definitions update) and then run Anti exploit....thanks again everyone...
-
i had Malwarebytes free and Anti Exploit free installed on my laptop, but after updating MB Antimalware was told that Anti exploit was not compatible with the new version, also noticed the download was the premium trail which before you could bypass this and just go for the free version (dont particularly like them giving you the trial when you only want the free version) anyway noticed that the 'built in' Anti exploit is part of the 'trail'....so what i want to know is when this 'trial' is up and i revert back to the free version of MB Anti Malware (i am assuming Anti Exploit will no longer be incorporated into the free MB Anti Malware) can i instal the stand alone version of MB Anti Exploit, and everything will be like before the 'update'.....or is it the case that now Malwarebytes has put Anti Exploit only in the 'paid for' version of MBAM and if i try to instal the .exe file i have of Anti Exploit it will say 'no'..... thank you...

ok so why has the 'full scan' gone -
Why has the 'quick scan' gone in this version...
-
thanks again the program that interests me the most is 'file assassin' so you are saying it is wise to upgrade to IE 9 even if i dont use it...
-
have you tried doing a 'system restore' if you're pc wont let you get to system restore (due to virus) try getting to 'system restore' through 'safe mode' or running you're 'anti virus' through 'safe mode'

advanced system care slowing down my pc
andytg replied to chpoet19's topic in General Windows PC Help
i have recently un installed 'Advanced system care' after what seemed like it was working ok for many months it suddenly brought up over 200 problems with the 'registry' i had it fix these then after a re start of my laptop it would not load, i got a message that there was a problem with 'windows' and 'windows (7)' went into 'fix' mode after quite a while a 'windows' message came up saying it could not fix it but did i want to try going back to a previous 'system restore' point, which i did and all was fine, it might have been a coincidence but i did not want to take another chance so i un installed 'Advanced system care' -
Thanks all, i am not un installing IE as it is needed for 'Windows' (which i have been told) but i am not upgrading it as i had problems when i did, i guess the problem i am having with MalwareBytes is connected to IE, as i only have IE 8 and i am assuming seeing that MB has now 'upgraded' it does not like the older IE, i will have a go of un installing MB and re installing it, but if that does not fix the problem i will just have to forget about the 'other tools' Thanks again all.....
-
noknojon thanks for that, i have Windows 7 and an old version of IE its version 8, i dont like IE and never use it, the one time i did upgrade IE something happened and i had to use 'safe mode' and 'system restore' to get my laptop working again so i have not upgraded IE since, think i will just un install MalewareBytes and re install it and see what happens, as i have said before the version of MB before this one gave me no problems.... on a different note is there a way this site can send me an e mail when i get a new reply, i thought i ticked the correct boxes in my 'profile settings' for that to happen, but i might have missed one.......thanks again all....

i have IE installed but i never use it, it is an old version. it is IE8, but as i have said i never use it, i use Google Chrome and Firefox, the version of MalewareBytes i had before this one did not give me this problem

i just updated malwarebytes (new shortcut on desktop) but when i go to 'more tools' and click on any of the 'tools' there i get a message saying 'this action cannot be completed because the other application is busy. Choose 'switch to' to activate the busy application and correct the problem' but the problem is clicking on 'switch to' does not do anything and i then cannot close 'Malwarebytes' i have to open 'Task Manager' and use 'end task'. can anybody advise me on this or know how to fix it....thank you
