Thank you! That was it. I always log onto a user account for normal use of my computer and only use an admin account for doing special stuff. I ran the software as an admin and was able to update. Thanks again.

A few days ago I downloaded and installed the free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.70.0.1100. On the Update tab the Check for Updates button is grayed out. The database I have is dated 12/30/2012. How do I get database updates? Is there something I need to do so that the Check for Updates button is not grayed out and works? Is this not available for the free version? Running on Win8. Thank you!
