  1. We fell for the Windows Error#0x80072ee7 alert and called them. We typed in www.helpme.net and let them remote into our desktop computer. When we realized it was a scam we told them to disconnect but it was too late. The last thing they said was if you don't pay us your computer will never work again. After they hung up I couldn't connect to the internet, activate Window Defender, run Office, run Malwarebytes, etc. My computer was pretty much a boat anchor. I came to this forum to ask for help and Aura answered. It took weeks of diagnostics but Aura did not give up. My computer is back up run

  3. Hi Aura, I was still having problems like Office programs not starting so I had my wife open her lap top Services program and I set our desktop Services programs like hers. When I finished everything started working correctly. Thanks so much for spending countless hours helping me fix my computer. It would have retired as a boat anchor without your help. You are awesome!!! Is there anything I can do to recognize your help? Thanks so much, Ron
  4. I opened up Services and double clicked on Windows Defender Antivirus Service. It showed Automatic but it was stopped. When I clicked on start I was able to get it running. I am running a Quick scan now.
  5. No. It says Virus & treat protection has stopped. When I select Restart i get "Unexpected error. Sorry, we ran into a problem. Please try again". Some commands are very slow and I have to select them multiple times before they work. When I left click on the Widows icon in the lower left most of the time I can't get the pop up menu to appear.

  8. If you mean Windows Update that is in the big list of names the Status says Running and the Start Up Type says Automatic. When I right click it Start is grayed out.
  9. I tried to open Word and PowerPoint and it said to repair office through the Control Panel so that is running right now. How do I start the Windows Update service?
