  1. Hello When I scan and remove all, this following detection is always in the log. I think Chrome is involved in the repetition. Could you tell me if I should remove it only to find it again, if there is something wrong in my pc I should fix, or if I should just allow it. Thank you Peter log.txt
  2. Should I leave rootkits unchecked as the default is or not? I think it may be Beta and if so I would wait and hope the default would let us know when it is no longer Beta. Thank you
  3. Thank you for both the help and reading material I am sure will come in handy.
  4. I appreciate all the help and I am sure I will be back. Having this great forum to fall back upon makes the decision to remove, quarantine etc. so much easier.
  5. Ok, View detailed log not main menu is what I should have clicked - sorry. Attached is a log file and thank you for your patience. log file.txt 2nd log file.txt
  6. I spoke to soon. The threat scan was negative - no detections and my process of clicking main menu did not work. I tried your way and that produced the Protection chart to export not the log file. Apparently I have a setting that is not allowing me to get the log file to export..
  7. I made a mistake and removed everything confusing the log with removal. At any rate I cannot thank you enough for telling me how to get help sorting these detections out. I will come back with my first detection and the appropriate log file. I remember the older log files where you used the edit to copy and the post to paste. This is a lot easier.
  8. Hello Could it be that the newest version I downloaded yesterday is a bit different than the version you are using? I just click 'main menu' after the scan and the log file is there. I attach that to my post. It contains date, time, and an analysis of the scan. Is this correct?
  9. I will be back tomorrow if ok with you. I have to go now but thank you so much. I seem to be exporting the little one liner instead of the log file. Have to work on that.
  10. Or is this the right one? mbam-log-2014-05-30 (18-12-19).xml

  12. Thank you sir I will do my best. I will have to try to figure out how to attach my logs and how and whereto attach them. I appreciate your help and di follow all of your referrals one of which was closed.
  13. Hello DaleDoc1 I apologize for the ommision. They were both PUPS. So, with this in mind should I remove them and all PUPs? Thank you for your help. Peter
  14. Hello I am new here. I ran MBAM in safe mode and detected 2 PUPs, one a file and the other a registry key. I do not want to lose a good file so am afraid to remove them. How do you know whether to remove or just quarantine and can you leave a file or registry key in quarantine? Thank you Peter
  15. Hello I don't knw if this is approprite for this forum but I'll try. I am about to leave Win 7 Hom Premium 64 bit and move to Win 8. I have studied a lot but before I get stuck with a couple of questions I wonderer if someone here could fill in a couple of blanks for me. I ran the advisor and some featues are not compatible like avisynth , bluetooth, win live essentials,MSE DVD and ATI and ATI manager. 1-Do I remove these before I install 8 or are they just not compatible and I seek out drivers when 8 is installed? I know how to start the download for $39.99 and save it as an iso file to desktop. Then right click it and burn to dvd. I have a burner but this is what a turtorial says to do if you have Win 7. I keep my key safe for later and pay. 2-I have the Win Media Center and Win PRO Pack coupon but don't know which to pick. 3-After I set the bios to boot from disc, the partitions confuse me. I am doing a clean install. I have attached a pik of my discs which may help you tell me if I should keep any partitons at all and which ones. 4-Do I need to click the advanced button at this partitoning point? 5-If there are any other tricky places could you pease advise me? I know I am asking alot but I would really appreciate the help. Thank you, Peter
  16. Hello I am about to install Win 8 in my Dell xps 8300 using the iso fie for $40.00. I currently have Win 7 Home premium x 64. I ran the advisor and was told I would not get, or lose; 1-secure boot 2-avisynyh 3-Win Live Essentials 4-DVD 5-ATI and ATI manager My few questions were; 1-should I do a clean install or an upgrade 2-should I remove all partitions or, if not, which should I keep 3-can I, or shoud I, attempt to retrieve the apps/programs I lose by updating drivers 4-if this fails, can I use an Acronis image to retrieve my last Win 7 image as I will only use one license per one pc. I wrote in this format so it would be easy to respond the same way, ie, 1.2.3 etc Thank you very much for your help Peter
  17. Hello What is the command prompt for chkdsk? When I go to Computer, properties tools error checking it reboots but says it has been cancelled. Thank you Peter P.S. Is there some way to make "Follow this topic" atomatically checked in case I forget?
  18. Hello This was my first post to MBAM and I saw the rootkit tool. I noticed it is beta and will expire the 10th of December. I don't use beta versions so will wait to see how things work out once it is released. I wonder what it will cost? MSE affords rootkit protection but I have depended upon MBAM for years as it has a high level of integrity and success with malware. My question is answered and thank you for taking the time. Peter
  19. Hello Is is safe to install the anti rootkits? Thank you Peter
