I'm not clear what the difference is between these two programs?
Most immediately, I want something to remove an ad pop-up malware that infected my win7 laptop when I tried to load (I see now a bad copy of) open office.
Long term, what will be good to use along with my antivirus program (right now it's Norton but I'm considering switching to bit defender)?
Thanks, David.

Thanks Firefox. I assume that running the DDS program and including the .txt files as instructed will provide information about what is being found.
I'm not clear, however, what DDS is and how it is connected to/works with MalwareBytes ????

I recently ran M-bytes for the first time because I suspected I may have malware on my computer. It found one item that it recommended I removed and I did.
It also found 5 items that it called PUPs, but I have not removed them so far. They are:
- reg key item for BUpdaterService
- file and reg key for Setup.exe, which I believe is a program I downloaded to facilitate installing another program, though I don't know which one, and
- file and memory process items for dmwu.exe, which I read is okay but also read is harmful.
(see also image, below)
I'm wondering, is it okay to remove (some? all?) of these items from my computer? I'm a bit of gome with tech stuff, so I don't really know what I'm looking at here.
Best, David.
